Rank #2: Hour of Slack #1639 - Bad Faith
WORLD WAR TWO WAS A HOAX! THE DUMB PEOPLE WON! HOW TO DESTROY THE EARTH! These and other topics are fully explained between bouts of bulldada and praise of J. R. "Bob" Dobbs. Music includes: Rev. Bleepo Abernathy - The Rainmakers - Dr. Bizarro and The Disgustos - Glassmadness - DK Jones - The Pink Boyz - Xposed 4Heads and more. Also, Stang reads some Stang and Nenslo on God from The Bobliographon. SPOILER WARNING re: Neil Stephenson's "SEVENEVES."

Rank #3: Hour of Slack #1780 RADIO-SAFE VERSION
RADIO-SAFE VERSION - Rerun of Hour of Slack #664 from early 1999, featuring the late Prof. Chas Smith's amazing edit of best SubGenius moments from his ESO Swamp Radio show with Stang and Lonesome Cowboy Dave, and several "Bob" hymns by Einstein's Secret Orhcestra (his "ESO Volume 10" special tape). We also hear ESO, Stang, and Lonecow Dave live at a November 1998 devival at the Euclid Tavern in Cleveland. King of Slack Bill T. Miller has two songs in this episode. This whole episode is a great example of the ESO/Hour of Slack barrage-edit and music collaboration at its peak.

Rank #4: Hour of Slack #1596 - We're Gonna Need a Bigger Big Lie
After being psychologically knocked for a loop, we are back with ten times as many screaming heads as they tried to cut off! We had a lot of fun assembling this episode, which is actually scripted, in a funny way; it helped us to get over THE HORROR and to move on with THE BATTLE in order to win THE JOKE. For the first half hour we copped (and recut) a lot of uncredited collage work from The Puzzling Evidence Show of the previous week (election week), then called up The Lonesome Cowboy and climbed back into the saddle for another bout in the ring. (Is it possible that a boxing ring is the wrong place for a horse race? WHO CARES? Why not both?) We also copped some good lines from those tricky Scrubgenius forum posters. The Swinging Love Corpses close out this heartfelt show with their prescient song, "We Are Going to Save the Universe."

Rank #5: Hour of Slack #1660 - Hour of Slack Classics
This is like the rerunniest show we ever done run! It was assembled around 2002 like a Frankenstein's monster from our favorite clips, extracted with great care out of the vast hoard of universally favorite SubGenius albums and tapes made since 1980. This one truly preserves, like flies in amber, the old-timers of the Church at their ostensible best in the first two decades of our mighty radio outreach -- before the brain damages and rheumatism set in. It's so dense that we shall just post the log here, below. (NOTE: The broadcast version is only one hour long and has no cussing; this Internet version is almost 80 minutes!)

Rank #6: Hour of Slack #1612 - Fake News? Like the Bible?
AIAIAIAIAI! All "live" on March 4 from the 9th MegaFisTemple Lodge at Stang Ranch, first with Lonesome Cowboy Dave by phone and then surprise guest caller, Dr. Philo Drummond! A few featured topics: Squirtypants. Dave as a badly oiled fleshopod. Summoning the Elder Gods via radio. Kids won't use black and white 2D fire even if they're freezing. Workplace sexual harassment of Dave. Donald Trump's failed attempt at being an opera singer. Hillary Clinton has been mind-controlling Trump. Obama stole his brain. "Bob" reads my mind. Refill the swamp with rich men. Murders at X-Day. PHILO ON THE ROKU AND VIMEO SUBGENIOUS TV SHOWS AND NEW X-DAY SHORT SUBJECTS, the uncut Night of Slack footage and "Bob's" orgies. On Internet version, Stang calls Dave back and they rant for an extra 20 minutes about the fucking Pink idiots and their Mango Mussolini.

Rank #7: Hour of Slack #1640 - Bonus Free Hour!
Dr. Sinister's Synesthesiamobile got rear-ended and he couldn't make it to the WCSB station, so we filled in for him with an EXTRA Hour of Slack! Played some old but rebooted Dr. Bizarro and the Disgustos (recently remixed on CD), some Amino Acids from 20X-Day, some Faux-band, and a rare recording of Lenny Bruce doing a live show at a club, spiced up by a heckler. The middle of the show has Lonesome Cowboy Dave and studio hosts StangDoe expounding about, among other things, the pros and cons of expounderment, and the hazards of chicken bone shards vis-a-vis dog throats. Stang reads the orgy scene from Neighborworld.

Rank #8: Hour of Slack #1586 - "I'm Coming for You, Plainface!"
Close Enclownters! Dave, Wei and Stang discuss the evil lurking clowns in the news lately(not Trump, this time) and the threat of clown hunts. The live section is a regular pie fight. But the first half is Best Of 19X-Day Rants #3, with a killer autobiographical sermon by Rev. Angus Faux, a somewhat shorter sermon of encouragement from Rev. Stang (both with major Rock God and Angry Lord Larry guitar backing), another lovely original Rev. Amy MmHmm song, and the Hour of Slack premiere of Thorazine Urine Podcrust, who performed their 100th X-Day podcrust this year -- HOURS of it, of which this week's clip is but the barest scratch in the surface!

Rank #9: Hour of Slack #1619 - Stang's Sermon at Starwood 36
Once a year, at Starwood Festival, people actually pay to (among other things) watch Rev. Ivan Stang preach nonstop for a whole hour. This episode is that hour, from July 16. SubGenius Sermons include: SubG 101. I Gave Tim Leary Drugs. God Keeps Taking the Wiseacres. The Monsters of Wisteria. Starwood Tour Guide - The Mandela Effect. Finding Slack in Dirt. The Most Powerful Drug - Moral Outrage. Trump and Stupid Person Pride. A Meat Space Kind of Guy. When Psychics Have Car Wrecks. Reading The Good Rev. Roger's GODZILLA rant. Audience Q&Q: Are We Nut Men? What Do UFOs Really Look Like? Connie Vs. Trump. What is the Question? Walkers for Trump. The Camera Drone is Not a Demon But J.R. "Bob" Dobbs might be.

Rank #10: Hour of Slack #1598 - Hour of Thorazine Urine
We were tempted to title this "Best Show Ever" because it's such a refreshing change from the old guys! Thorazine Urine Podcrust is a loose (and we do mean loose) band of blabbermouths who leapfrogged off Hour of Slack, Puzzling Evidence and "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse, did a backflip, and set their hair on fire before landing on a monocycle and peddling around in circles, juggling plates. On Friday afternoon at 19X-Day, Rev. Anna Maul, Rev. Argus Faux, and Rev. Fidd Chewley chewed up the scenery as guest hosts at Tarzan's Radio Station. (With a bigger crowd of zanies and a bunch of musical instruments, they also did some hours on the main stage.) After the podcrust, Stang continues reading from The Bobliographon (Conspiracy chapter). We also hear a new song, "Empire," from Rev. Andrew Genus, and two poems: Dr. Hal reciting "The Vulture" and a creepy original by Rev. Dr. Lee Cypher.

Rank #11: Hour of Slack #1688 - A Visit to the Porn Shop
We're still between radio production studios, but that didn't stop The SubGenius UberWomen of Austin (Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja) from visiting their neighborhood porn shop and reporting on it in detail. Nor can it stop Stang from calling Dr. Sinister's Radio Synaesthesia at WCSB Cleveland. Now does it affect collagists LeMur and Cool Hand Chris, or The Rudy Schwartz Project. And who'll stop The Rainmakers? Opens with a lovely discussion of lab-grown human-clone meat for purposes of cannibalism.

Rank #12: Hour of Slack #1600 - Clothing-Optional Bobtasms Show
We open with a very timely brand new song by Phat Mandee, and then Stang reads a bedtime rant from The SubGenius Psychlopaedia of Slack. The rest is an episode recorded at the 19X-Day Drill at Wisteria, just before the Mass Naked (or not) Bobtism in the pond, with Dr. Hal and Rev. Peas joining host Rev. Stang. This riveting discussion is interspersed with some documentary recordings from the Bobtism itself. Children should not be allowed to watch this episode due to the grossly disgusting visible nudity, especially the peaness of Rev. Peas.

Rank #13: Hour of Slack #1509 - SubGenius Rants 'n Bands 'n Thangs
The WCSB studio phones were broken this night -- and so was the whole studio! Yet we broadcast anyway. The first half of the show features one song each by the bands that will perform at the March 21 Winterstar Ball in Cleveland: Rev. Phat ManDee, Muruga Booker and the Cosmic Hoedown band, Steev Inglish, Brian Henke, Mayan Ruins and Sister Melodious Chops (the band Wei is in). (The Ball is a benefit for ACE/Starwood and the late Jeff Rosenbaum.) The second half is Stang reading rants by Phineas Narco and The Good Rev. Roger, and twenty solid minutes of uncut Puzzling Evidence Show with Dr. Philo Drummond and Dr. Hal, with a very interesting discussion of the ins and outs of managing a sperm bank.

Rank #14: Hour of Slack #1690 - The War Between the Futures
Three new rants and a new short story! - albeit all read by Stang. The short story, The War Between the Futures, is by the former SubGenius formerly known as Nenslo, from his new book of children's stories. Two rants were written by Rev. Dr. Uncle Onan Canobite and by The Good Rev. Roger andf Dr. G. Gordon Gordon delivers one of his own. We also hear segments from 21X-Day with Dr. Philo Drummond, Dr. Hal, Rev. Angry Larry, Rev. Fanboy, and Rev. Feit C Taj, and from The SubGenius Uberwomen of Austin, Rev. Anna Maul and Dr. Brujaja. There's also a previously unheard X-Day song by Rev. Rock Roswell, and a new piece each by The Rudy Schwartz Project and The Psycho Skeletons. We're late with this one, but at least it's not a rerun!

Rank #15: Hour of Slack #1609 - Stang Ranch SubKids Afterschool Special
Special guests this episode are Rev. Ivan Stang's two grandsons, Age 6 and Age 8 (the Sons of Sivet!), recorded at Tarzan's Radio Station, improvising a suspenseful radio play about a monster hunt in which the monster is "Bob" himself! Interspersed are seriously bulldadized "Old-Gulag" Lemur-style Classic Collages, by Lemur, and a historical dissertation by Stang about the cranks, crackpots, charlatans, psuedo-scientists and fellow cult leaders of Glen Rose, Texas (new alternate home of The SubGenius Foundation HQ). Background music by Mayan Ruins from "Sacred and Profane."

Rank #16: Hour of Slack #1544 - LNI TORTURE Special
We were called away suddenly on family business, and our live WCSB show was by necessity a pledge drive last weekend, so for the other stations we're re-running a choice "Bob's" Slack Time Funhouse show from WREK-Atlanta by THE LYMPH NODE INSTITUTE -- specifically their 2006 episode on the theme of TORTURE. Unlike Hour of Slack, they use not only scripts (!) but music by bands who have actual commercial CDs in stores and contracts with Conspiracy music industry companies! In this episode there is also a lot of prime Negativland.

Rank #17: Hour of Slack #1691 - THIS PLANET IS MARS (rerun 989)
NOW IT CAN BE TOLD! (Again -- this is a rerun of #989 from 2005) Only THE HOUR OF SLACK dares to re-transmit Dr. Onan Canobite's illicit shortwave broadcasts regarding THE TRUTH about the so-called "red" planet. Also: detailed descriptions of sexual reproduction among lower life forms living under the rocks of Mars, live devival recordings, new collagiasts Sudasana and JustJohn, and we try to ascertain whether or not Wolfbait is serious-serious or just bulldada-serious. And: PR Gnus.

Rank #18: Hour of Slack #1543 - Philo and Hal, Gorillas and Demons at X-Day
It's like the hideous mutated offspring of The Hour of Slack force-mated with The Puzzling Evidence Show! Dr. Philo Drummond, Overman First Degree, and the famous Dr. Hal of Ask Dr. Hal were both at Wisteria for 18X-Day Drill, and this was the very last of the live radio shows recorded at Caffeina's Café in 2015. You can see an extremely detailed log of the subjects covered -- plus the timestamps of all the cusswords! -- at the Hour of Slack page on subgenius.com (click on any show title). Suffice it to say that everything both cool and uncool, holy and unholy, is covered. And uncovered.
You can now dowload TWO NEW SUBGENIUS ALBUMS and one new REALLY OLD ONE at http://subgeniusfoundation.bandcamp.com/ !

Rank #19: Hour of Slack #1617 - Rerun of #66 - 1986 / Media Barrage 4
A good old-fashioned Hour of Slack rerun from 1986 -- heavy on early Puzzling Evidence show with Dr. Hal, LIES and Gary G'broagfran, Drs. 4 "Bob," Brother Cleve Dunkan, a guest appearance by Robert Anton Wilson, and what would have been a really irritating barrage of movie sound effects had I not majorly shortened those sections for this rerun. The hour is filled out by some of the very earliest SubGenius audio, MEDIA BARRAGE #4 - "The End of the World" from 1980.

Rank #20: Hour of Slack #1501 - Guest: St. Paul Krassner!
Special episode, live at the WCSB studio in Cleveland with the great satirist, publisher and enemy of the Conspiracy Paul Krassner yakking with regular hosts Rev. Ivan Stang, Lonesome Cowboy Dave and Princess Wei "R." Doe. It's a long, rambling funny discussion of "What REALLY Happened to The Left?" -- plus the unusual chain-gang of idiots. We have a song, "Bob" Pokes Me In The Eye, by someone who sounds like Martin Sheen, the song "On and Off the Road with "Bob" by Rev. Bleepo Abernathy, and a rant by, well, let's just call him Joe. LeMur contributes many collages as does Rev. Norel Pref.
