I’m a pga Golf Management Student and I came across Jay’s Instagram page a year ago or so. We messaged back and forth a bit and I’ve watched the progression of the podcast from it’s inception until now. I love the content and I listen to the show in the car and when I’m cooking haha. I always get new ideas for my future as an up and coming Golf professional. Sometimes I even take notes on the podcasts I think are the most interesting. To say it briefly, this is the only golf business podcast that actually has relevant and useful information. I love the show and how raw it is. Jay is very open and honest and not afraid to share the tricks and tips that he has used to become successful. Lots of value in these podcasts for a PGM Student!

I often get asked the question of how do you turn your Instagram into cash. This question came up again during a recent talk I gave at Campbell university to the Professional Golf Management class, and the answer I gave in the moment I think was someone evasive. So I wanted to follow up on the many ways that having a professional Instagram profile can lead to monetary gain. It may not be in the sense that you just buy followers and trick people into advertising with you (I’m sure that has worked for many), but in a real way.

Ok.... So not all Golf Professionals "Hate" Social Media. And there are some examples out there of clubs and pros that have used these platforms to increase very traditional metrics like, selling more outings, increasing rounds and many other things that are important.

But it takes understanding what the Golf Professional faces every day and the capabilities of the platforms to start to understand where we should focus our efforts.

I hope to create some videos base around specific interests of different Golf Professional roles and types of clubs, and share very specific but easy to adopt practices on some of these platforms.

But, just make sure you don’t sacrifice next year too by trying to hold out for higher prices. Last night a listing that I had for a broken rangefinder completed with the auction price going well over $100. This made me suspect considering that most of them go for about a third of that in broken condition, so I emailed the person that bought it and reminded them it was in not working condition rather than send it with the no reruns policy in this item that I had listed. He asked to cancel of course, but maybe the rangefinder came back for a reason?
