72 Hours: About Jackson

Jackson has been in the park for over 2 years. He lost his wife to sickness… and remarks how he is so grateful for the time God gave me with her. He is in his upper 50’s, wears a camouflage jacket that looks old and torn, and lights up a cigarette. Jackson can’t find a job, can’t get on the list to be accepted into the tiny home village that the city built, and can’t understand where all the money has gone that  "...is supposed to help us get on our feel." He understands the desperation and economic disasters that have led to so many being without homes. He has lost his greatest love to the elements, and has the look of both victim and owner of his predicament. On his face… pain.Follow The Homeless Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. The Day That Someone Saw Me: About Amy

Amy is a champion for the homeless. And when I say champion, I don’t mean just someone who supports those without shelter. I mean a true, unmitigated… champion. In fact, I would liken her to a patron saint of the homeless. I arrived in February to meet Amy and learn about her mission. She has not only taken on the homeless epidemic in Port Angeles… she has helped to create a family of people who can trust her, come to her with anything, and count on her for always being present in their lives. Amy manages the Program of Olympic Penninsula Community Clinic called "Rediscovery." And she has had an impact on not only the homeless, but on the entire community. She changed minds, changed hearts and changes lives. If you’d like to learn more about Amy and the amazing work she is doing in Port Angeles, please visit the Olympic Penninsula Community clinic facebook page: https://facebook.com/yourlinktoresources   Amy will reach right back and answer any questions… even those that may seem trivial. You can help. You can grow. And you can acknowledge those the need acknowledgement. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be the person that someone write about someday. And maybe, just maybe, your chapter will be called “The Day Someone That Saw Me.”If you would like to be a part of this journey and support the Homeless Podcast, please consider becoming a monthly subscriber on patreon. For as little as 3-5 dollars per month, your support goes directly in the hands of those less fortunate through resources, warm meals, and giving hope to those that may feel life is just a downward spiral. I like to think the opposite. Life is a in inverted spiral, growing wider and brighter the higher we climb. Let’s share hope with those that so desperately need it. Under the Bridge: About Opie

"I’m diseased because I’m homeless, and it’s judgement. People just need to quit judging the problem."As Opie talks about the kids that he has helped off the streets and recalls being the best man in a wedding ceremony for one of them, I notice he gets a bit emotional. He truly is proud of this fact and it has made a major impact on him. I can’t help but wonder if he is thinking about his own children that are with his ex-wife back in Illinois. He hasn’t heard from them in two years, and I can’t imagine going that long without talking to immediate family.Follow Homeless on Facebook and Instagram:https://www.facebook.com/homelessPNWhttps://www.instagram.com/homeless_podcastGrab a pair or five of Bombas socks, and provide a pair or five for the homeless:https://bombas.com/homelesspod Homeless has been listed in Feedspot's Top 10 of podcasts dealing with the homeless pandemic. Never Alone: About Richard

Richard’s story began as a child in an abusive home. He recalls this in the interview, but we will hear as he comes out of the darkness and into the light. He will talk about the value of the human spirit, the brilliance of a strong faith in God, and the powerful acceptance of the fact that homelessness is more of a relationship issue than it is a resource issue. Richard exudes success and redemption… and has learned to trust not only in others… but in himself. The music in this episode is the advent remix by Moby , and is called "Like a Motherless Child." Red Hot Cluster F: About Martin

Rent control and loopholes in the law are a major part of the homeless epidemic. When you hear of a landlord dealing with tenants that won’t pay, consider there might be more to their story. When you hear of a tenant who might face eviction due to not paying, consider the tenant’s story. You might be surprised the harder you listen, and you just might realize that their journey is unique and can’t be lumped into a single issue. Our guest is Martin. He lives in the greater Los Angeles area and has spent time inside and outside the court system dealing with eviction notices, un-warranted shaming, and processes of developing an interest in the development of safe shelters. If you want to see your generosity go directly into the hands of the homeless, please consider becoming a Patreon subscriber for the Homeless Podcast at https://patreon.com/homelessPNW The price of one latte. Out of the Ashes: About David (part 2)

David rose out of the ashes, and is on his journey. He says that he is open to changing his opinions and has a growth-mindset that most should envy. "Humankind has not woven the web of life.
