Time Doesn't Shout—It Just Runs Out, Part 1 (2017 archive)

Where does time go? Time doesn’t shout, it just runs out, quicker than you think. We have traits in our life related to time: punctuality; patience; priority; prudence; perspective; and not get into procrastination. God only gives you so much time. Redeem your time wisely! Examine yourself and make adjustments where needed. “Be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise; redeeming the time because the days are evil. Do not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Eph 5:15-18). Full Transcript: The transcript is unavailable at this time. Prayer in Crisis

Prayer is important. Are your prayers getting through to the throne room of God? The Bible teaches us that prayer is a privilege of those who have become the children of God (John 1:12) those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. “My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray and see My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron 7:14). If we are to survive this cataclysmic time in our history, we must appeal to God and do it effectively. Crisis Living (2018 archive)

I want to share some words with you this morning and hopefully, these words will encourage you. Here’s where we'll start, in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.” If you can understand that verse, this is called faith-rest. The faith-rest drill is Problem-Solving Device #3 in the FLOT line of a believer’s soul. Learning how to stand on the promises of God. This is a promise that you can claim as a believer in Jesus Christ. Fear is the Hebrew word yare and it means do not be afraid. It has a negative with it, “fear not,” don't be afraid. Don't be afraid because God said, “I am with you.” This is a wonderful promise. You are never alone. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you are never alone. The Lord Jesus Christ told the disciples in John 16:32 that they were going to be scattered, and He said “and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.” Just as God the Father was with Jesus Christ in those final hours before He went to the cross and was crucified and died for the sins of the world, He's with you and with me where I'm sitting today and with you wherever you may be on this Sunday morning.  Don't be dismayed. The verse says “Fear not, I am with you; do not be dismayed,” which means distressed. Don’t have stress in your life. There is no reason to have stress in your life. Stress in your life is indicated by worry, the stress in your life is indicated by fear—two things in mental attitude sins. You can't afford to let mental attitude sins control your thinking because, if you do, then you will get under the emotional revolt of the soul. If your emotions are controlling you, you are not thinking. You have to disassociate from emotions and, as the Bible says, “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). You have to learn to think divine viewpoint and this is how you do it: focusing on the fact that God is with you, do not be stressed out.  Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/675-transcript--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rick-hughes/message

It’s time to RALLY to recover our strength, spiritually and as a nation.  R = Reflection. There are two ways we can learn how to live the life God gave us: through the school of hard knocks or through the Lord’s grace provisions. “When I leave, I will send the Holy Spirit and He will be your tutor, your mentor; He will teach you.” (John 14:16,26). A = Affection. Get back to divine appreciation of Who and what God is. L = Leave the world behind and return to your first love, your love for God the Father. L = Learn and apply the Word in your circumstances and you will glorify God. Y = Yield yourself to God’s plan. Have a personal sense of destiny. “In God I put my trust, I shall not be afraid. Looking for a Champion

By learning and using the Word of God you can actually live a life free from worry, free from bitterness and free from jealousy. It's simply called the Christian life. It’s the wonderful life that the Lord Jesus Christ lived and passed on to us, demonstrated to us in His humanity, and how we can live also. On The FLOT Line show, we teach the Lord Jesus Christ’s lifestyle. The Bible says, “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). If you’re going to replicate how He lived you have to replicate how He thought. You have to know what He intended, His motives, His initiatives, His desires—always to glorify the Father. God never changes His mind. God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, immutable, veracity. This is an illustration of how the Lord is influenced when people confess sin and people intercede for other people. In Ecclesiastes 9:15 Solomon's wisdom teaches it only takes one. It only takes one champion to deliver a nation. In Ecclesiastes 9:15, “But there was found in that city a poor wise man and he delivered the city with his wisdom. Yet no one remembered the poor man.” The wisdom of God is unbelievable. When you have discernment and insight that springs forth from wisdom, you can be the deliverer that God is looking for. You can be an invisible champion if you want to be. That's up to you. Let me tell you how. (1) The purpose of God's protocol plan in this day and time called the church is to manufacture champions, invisible heroes, champions in the angelic conflict. (2) These champions are defined as believers who attain spiritual maturity through the consistent function of LAG (learn, apply, and glorify). As the Lord Jesus Christ said, “Happiness belongs to those people who hear My Father's word and keep it” (Luke 11:28). Learn it and apply it and it glorifies God. (3) This means that you must perceive, metabolize and apply the Word of God on a consistent basis in your life because it can take you to spiritual maturity and when you get there you will be a champion and you will bring God maximum glory with your testimony, with your lifestyle, with the way you think and the way you live. That’s when you have an invisible impact. The national impact of God's invisible champion sustains the client nation because it forms what we call a pivot—that core group of believers that holds us together. But remember, God does not use unprepared people. If you're God's champion, you’d better be prepared to answer the call. Isaiah 6:8, "I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, "Here am I. Send me!" You can be God's MVP if you have momentum, virtue, and poise. Momentum—hearing and keeping the Word of God on a consistent basis. Virtue—built on discernment and insight from the wisdom of the Word of God. Poise—the ability to think under pressure. That's what it takes to be a champion. Full Transcript https://rhem.pub/champion-transcript-497b6--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rick-hughes/message

America, the Land of the Foolish, Part 1 (2019 archive)

Why is hopelessness a national disease and loneliness an epidemic? Happiness belongs to those who hear My Father's Word and keep it” (Luke 11:28). Hearing and keeping the Word of God on a consistent basis relieves loneliness for the believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. America is the land of the foolish. By and large, most Americans are not interested in what the Bible says about marriage, what the Bible says about family, what the Bible says about freedom, what the Bible says about internationalism. They're not interested. They’re only interested in what they want. As a nation, we are so foolish that we actually think we don't need God's instructions, that we can handle it all on our own. Wisdom comes from knowledge and when you have the knowledge of the Word of God it produces insight and discernment. Wisdom is acquired as a byproduct of personal love for God. “If you love Me you will obey Me and My mandates are not grievous” (John 14:15) Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/731-transcript--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rick-hughes/message

The Crisis Personality

Adverse circumstances can cause you to fear death. The promised solution is given in Job where it says that you will have nothing to fear from a violent death. You and I can claim these Old Testament verses and relax in this situation.  The three spiritual skills you must learn and use: the filling of the Holy Spirit; sitting under a well-qualified pastor and applying what you learn. The application of thought is what you have to do. Thinking is what changes us. Courage is us thinking under pressure. f you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, your focus in these days must be on Him and not on the pandemic. Your focus must be on His promises, not on the news and the constant never-ending scare tactics perpetrated by the devil himself. The strength of your soul is much more important than the strength of your body. If you’re going to be a winner you have to think and execute. Secondly, you have to understand that the crisis personality demonstrates leadership in a crisis. How? They have a relaxed mental attitude, they have confident expectations, they have infectious confidence and security in the middle of the storm. The Bible tells us that faith is the power that we need to overcome the distractions in the cosmic system. The wrath of God is your first crisis. If you reject the free gift of eternal life that God gives you through Jesus Christ you will face eternity in the Lake of Fire. Divine Discipline, Part 1

How the love of God administers discipline to us: “Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore, be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:19) Repent basically means to change your mind, change the way you think. Your spiritual life is lived in your soul. In your soul is your mentality. “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5). That's dealing with how you think. The Bible also says, “stop thinking of self in terms of arrogance beyond what you should think; but think in terms of sanity, as God has assigned to each one of us a standard of thinking from His Word” (Romans 12:3). When we say repent it means to change the way you think. “Those that I love, I reprove [that’s the discipline that God puts into our life] and I discipline, therefore, be zealous [do this quickly] and change what you're thinking.” In Psalm 7:9b, “… for the righteous God tries the hearts and minds (of each one of us).” There's nothing you can hide from God. He can see what's in your mind. He can see what’s in your heart. Every bit of punishment, every bit of discipline that comes to us as believers from the Supreme Court of heaven is always based on God's personal love for us. He loves you. He's not doing this to hurt you. He's doing this to deliver you, to get you to respond and recover. “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us.” (1 John 1:9). The divine punishment from the integrity of God is administered with exactly the same divine love as is His divine blessing. God loves you. He will discipline you to correct you, to deliver you, to get you to see what's going on in your life. Tracks of History, Part 1

If you're a believer, your job is to handle matters wisely. In Proverbs 16:20, “He that handles a matter wisely shall find good and whosoever trusts in the Lord will be happy.” God gave you a volition and every decision you make, every critical decision you make, you are responsible for those decisions. What is your anchor point in your life? Is it human viewpoint or is it divine viewpoint? All decisions that we make in life must be governed by the Scriptures. Human viewpoint, human thinking is not Bible doctrine. This is why the Bible tells us we have to renovate the way we think, in Romans 12:3, “stop thinking of yourself in terms of arrogance beyond what you should think; but think in terms of humility as God has assigned to each one of us a standard of thinking from His word.” That's what the Father wants for you—a different way of thinking, that you renovate your thinking, that you don't think as the world thinks. “Happiness belongs to those people who hear My Father's Word and keep it” (Luke 11:28). Hearing it is not keeping it but "hearing and keeping" produces wisdom. Once you have wisdom in your heart that comes from knowledge of Bible doctrine, then you have discretion and the Bible says discretion will preserve you and then you have understanding and understanding will keep you. This is what I call spiritual x-ray vision: the invisible ministry of the Holy Spirit taking the power of the living Word of God that begins to be wisdom in your soul and the Holy Spirit through the Word of God gives you phenomenal discernment and insight through the eyes of Scripture. Christian Casualties (2017 archive)

You may have children or friends that have walked away from the great gift God gave us, His direction to live a wonderful life. They’ve become Christian casualties negative to learning and executing God’s plan for their lives. The Bible calls them naïve, stupid. “The respect of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Prov 1:7). In perpetual carnality, they slide down the slope of reversionism. Details of life become priorities. Thinking is clouded by human viewpoint. Objectivity is lost. They stall out spiritually or spin out of control. They may have walked away from God, but God has not walked away from them. It’s never too late to recover: get back in fellowship with the Holy Spirit and return to God’s Word. Tracks of History, Part 2

Wisdom is critical in your life. You only get wisdom when you learn Bible doctrine. When you learn the Word of God it becomes knowledge. Knowledge is critical because without knowledge there is no wisdom and without wisdom, there's no discernment and no insight.  We have to be in synchronization with God's plan. We can't run ahead of God. We can’t get behind God. If we’re going to make some different tracks in this country in the future it’s going to take some different thinking by people who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s going to require you mastering and understanding and perceiving the Word of God and metabolizing what you learn into wisdom. If your timing is off you’re going to have a problem. Without the Word of God it's inevitable you will have a life of bad timing. Don't ever worry about God promoting you, just do your job. Be on track. Don't get off track. A disoriented believer is off-track and there's no way that he can change the destiny of a country or change the destiny of his own family or the destiny of his own life if he's not oriented to the plan of God. If he's trying to rush things and get ahead of the plan of God. The greatest service you could render is to become a mature believer, to have an invisible impact in your home, in your nation, in your church, and to change the tracks of history in this country as we go forward. This has been a time for you to reorient and adjust, for you to get your feet back on the ground, for you to calm down from the hustle and bustle of life and focus on your spiritual life. Don’t go back to the way you were living. Continue to put the Lord first as you did through the crisis. Continue to seek His will and to ask Him to deliver you and show you and guide you as you did in the crisis. I think we were in national decline spiritually when the coronavirus hit and it's been an opportunity to get back on the tracks of righteousness, to get back in the right direction. But spirituality must manifest itself in a nation. It has to be manifested nationally. You're going to run into problems with this because there's a real strong foothold of demonism in this country. There's a real market for everything that is evil turned into good and everything good has now been turned into evil. This is one of the ways that Satan loves to divide and conquer. To get you to break ranks, to step aside or move ahead or fall behind, not stand shoulder to shoulder with other believers. When you hear false teaching you do not need to bend or blend, just run away, get away from it. We have declined nationally. Our tracks are going in the wrong direction. We are bending the rules and blending in with the false teachers. God wants you to live your life in such a way that you set the tracks of righteousness down in the future, that your life is a testimony to God's grace, and to your submission to your Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, the anointed Son of God. Stinkin’ Thinkin’, Part 4 (2016 archive)

Love is one of the most important critical thinkin’ skills in the plan of God. Love is thinkin’. Personal love for God and impersonal love for others. Personal love is what motivates us to learn the mind of Christ. “For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments, and His commandants are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3). Use your volition to apply your renovated thoughts to your decisions and actions. Divine viewpoint brings tranquility of soul, peace of mind. “So that the proof of your faith (thinking), being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory” (1 Pet 1:7-8). God Loves You, Part 6

In God's wonderful plan your human IQ can be supplemented by learning God's Word and developing a spiritual IQ. There's a huge difference between human IQ and spiritual IQ. How do you develop a spiritual IQ? Well, it starts with the ten problem-solving devices.  Problem-solving device number one is the rebound technique or how to confess your sin and get back in fellowship once you've broken fellowship with God. Once you quench the Holy Spirit and grieve the Holy Spirit by an act of disobedience if you go to the Father in 1 John 1:9 as the Bible says, “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us and even to purify us from all of our wrongdoing.”  We have a battle. The battle is “the flesh wars against the Spirit, the Spirit wars against the flesh; they are contrary one to the other so that you cannot do the things you'd like to do” (Galatians 5:17). So when you allow the Holy Spirit to control your sin nature, that’s what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18, “be filled with the Spirit.” You are not letting your sin nature control your life if you're filled with the Holy Spirit. Time Doesn't Shout—It Just Runs Out, Part 2

Punctuality is appreciated by others. Patience is required to fulfill God’s plan. Being impetuous wastes time. “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; fret not because of those who prosper in evil ways” (Ps 37:7). You’ll fail to see the solution and get discouraged if you focus on the problem. Fulfilling the destiny God designed for you requires the right priority. Learning God’s Word has to be #1 priority. People emphasis must never take priority over God emphasis. “Take My yoke and learn from Me. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matt 11:29-30).
