This year Paul and Aaron talk about a few things including things to look out for with friends/family that indicate that they may be depressed and/or thinking about hurting themselves. Before the show really gets going - Josh wanted to try his hand at acting...and well....listen to the first few moments to hear how well that went..... But once things started..... Something that was on Aaron's mind was when is it appropriate to say NO to someone.  Sometimes saying no takes the form of a direct "No" and sometimes it takes the form of an indirect No through body language/etc.  When is it appropriate to say no.  Who is allowed to "say" no?  How much should the no be allowed to influence?

The church historically has not been very good with how they interact with people who are "not up to their standards", this includes people from the LGBTQIA+ community.  We talk in this episode about how people from the church should lovingly interact with people who are in this community - with the realization that in the past we have failed.  We go through some scenarios to hear how two guys from the younger generation (22-25) react with each of the scenarios. From the conservative christian perspective, what are the ways a person who identifies as gay can live a holy life?  Can they still serve in the church?  How about interpersonal friendships?  What happens when they need help?  What happens when......you get the picture. How should Christians interact with the LGBTQIA+ community?

Education (and especially the four year college degree) is pushed as required to everyone in high school.  True college degree holders overall might make more money, but they go into more debt, start making money later, and generally have a lot more hoops to go through to even get close to having a decent life (with no guarantee they will actually get a good job).  Why is blue collar work looked at as negative?  Why is there a shortage of blue collar workers?  Is it shameful to work as a blue collar worker? In this episode, the guys talk about the escapades playing Pathfinder and what it means to play this game and be Christian at the same time.  We are joined by our game master for this conversation as well. The very far right side of the conservative Christian movement has decided games such as Dungeons and Dragons and other Table Top Role Playing Games (TTRPG) for a while.  The argument they make is that these games are an introduction to occult, satanism, contain real spells, etc.  How true are these claims?  Can you guess how many people told a Wiccan apologist that RPGs were the reason they got interested in checking out Wiccan?  It might surprise you.

Video games have been a point of contention for a while.  They have been blamed for everything from shootings to aggression in teens in school, and anti-social behavior.  We have been told in the news media all the time that this is the case - and every time there is another tragedy involving a gun we almost always hear about what type of video games the shooter played and how video games lead to this.  That being said - what does the science say?  Is it settled?  And ultimately, who is responsible for the action someone takes?  Are there any other things which the games may do which are cause for concern?  Are there any benefits?  We talk about all of this and more. Video games have been a point of contention for a while.  They have been blamed for everything from shootings to aggression in teens in school, and anti-social behavior.  We have been told in the news media all the time that this is the case - and every time there is another tragedy involving a gun we almost always hear about what type of video games the shooter played and how video games lead to this.  That being said - what does the science say?  Is it settled?  And ultimately, who is responsible for the action someone takes?  Are there any other things which the games may do which are cause for concern?  Are there any benefits?  We talk about all of this and more. Are video games to blame for violence in society?

We have a conversation about swearing, cussing and when/if it has a place in our everyday lives/conversations.  We also go back to the basics and talk about just what is language with Josh and Aaron getting minor headaches in the process. A Talk About Swearing

Presented today is part one of two of a discussion that we had regarding the second amendment.  We were joined by a friend of ours to discuss the various proposed and currently implemented gun control laws in the United States.  Josh wanted to discuss this and ends up being slightly surprising with what he was willing to go along with gun control.  Due to this conversation being slightly long (close to 2:30) this has been broken up into two parts.  Part 2 will be released on 12/13/2019.

Anytime you try to have a conversation about race in America, one of two things instantly happen. Either people shut down afraid to say the wrong thing and being labeled a racist, or they go off on tangents not related to the topic at hand attempting to skirt around the uncomfortable topic at hand. On this week's episode of Use Your Words, we are attempting to talk about affirmative action in America. Why is Lent important? Can we use the concept provided here to grow? What about deconstructing our own faith on a regular basis.

A talk on the death penalty

This week was a pre-recorded episode as we were up at camp during the normal recording time.  We look back on some of our fondest memories of camp/retreats in the past.  Paul also shares a dream that he had where Aaron destroyed the word in the most Aaron way possible.  We also learn some more background on Paul and Aaron's friendship and why they love to troll each other so much. Weird new, things that Aaron would do, New Network

Today (4/12/2020) is Easter - a celebration of Spring and renewal and for the Christian church, the resurrection of Christ.  During this time, it is good to think of the good going on in the world.  There is a lot going on with Corona - but lets take a look at what possible good things there are out there and celebrate in the fact that there is good in the world even in the midst of all the bad.

Presented today is part two of a discussion that we had regarding the second amendment.  We were joined by a friend of ours to discuss the various proposed and currently implemented gun control laws in the United States.  Josh wanted to discuss this and ends up being slightly surprising with what he was willing to go along with gun control.

With the release of the report from the intelligence committee on the case for impeaching Trump, it has been revealed that secret subpoenas were issued (legality of them aside) on the same day that requests for phone records were sent out to people.  When the data provided by the subpoenas was released in the report, immediately people started criticizing the release of Shiff's political opponents and a private citizen's phone records - and they are not related to the investigation at all.  This is in stark opposition to the position taken by Democrats in the past with the NSA collecting phone metadata on citizens.  Let's take a look at it.
