We Got Nets Episode 20 - Kyrie Irving Drops 50! But Nets Lose the Opener, Plus Knicks Preview with Jonathan Macri10/24/19

Well, the first Nets’ game is in the books and they lost in rather heartbreaking fashion, in overtime, to the Timberwolves. The game had everything you really would have wanted save the final outcome for Nets’ fans, with big shots and a couple of bounces away from the Nets just taking it home. The story, outside of the final score, was Kyrie Irving’s debut as a Brooklyn Net. He dropped 50 points in a borderline transcendent game that saw him seemingly hit everything accept that final buzzer beater shot. He put up a monster line in the loss and looked every bit the superstar the Nets were hoping they signed. Doug Norrie breaks it al down on a solo podcast with Adam traveling. He goes through Kyrie’s game, how the other starters looked and the problematic pieces on the bench who ultimately gave the game away. Then, at the 31 minute mark, Doug jumps on with Jonathan Macri from the Knicks Film School podcast to preview the Knicks-Nets game on Friday. They talk about the Knicks' offseason moves, what to expect from the game and much more. It's a great interview. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We Got Nets Episode 21 - Nets Beat Knicks! Kyrie Dagger, Save Caris, Ugly Game and More 10/26/19

The Nets almost pulled a defeat from the jaws of victory against the Knicks in Friday’s night game, but come away with the win in their second game of the season. The Nets jumped out to a big lead in the first half and looked very strong on both sides of the ball. But the second half was a total different story with the Nets almost completely collapsing, giving up a big lead and even trailing late in the game. That being said, they pulled it out in a very sloppy game. Doug Norrie and Adam Armbrecht break down the game and look at both the positives and the negatives from the Nets’ win. They examine Kyrie Irving’s big game, including his dagger three near the end of regulation. They also discuss the performance of the bench including a shift in rotations for the Nets early with Caris LeVert leading more of the second unit scoring. That being said, there were plenty of negatives with the Nets looking very sloppy. The game had a ton of turnovers and missed free throws. But there’s also discussion about Caris LeVert not closing the game which is sending up alarm bells.  Learn more about your ad choices. We Got Nets Episode 2 - Kyrie Irving or D'Angelo Russell? 6/20/19

The We Got Nets guys are back at it with their third episode of the podcast. The Finals are barely over and yet the talk of the NBA has already fully shifted to the draft, free agency, and of course the monumental trades that went down in the last few days. They guys briefly touch on the Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers as well as Mike Conley heading over the the Jazz on Wednesday. Then they transition into what things are looking like for Brooklyn with rumors that they might no longer be pursuing Kyrie Irving as aggressively as was once assumed. This leads to a debate about whether it would be *better* to bring on Kyrie or to stand pat with D’Angelo Russell as their primary *max* contract. Where they land might surprise you. There’s also a discussion about the Nets’ core need, in terms of last season’s performance, and that’s the lack of reliable interior play on both offense and defense. They discuss the possibility of bringing in someone like Al Horford who will opt out of his player option with the Celtics and look for another deal. And that’s where they break into some DeMarcus Cousins talk and if he would be a player to bring in if they could get him at a *discount*. And finally, Doug breaks down the trauma of getting stung by a bee earlier in the day. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We Got Nets Episode 39 - Kyrie's Injury News, Caris Returns and Trade Joe Harris? 1/6/20

The We Got Nets guys are back Monday morning with a packed Brooklyn Nets podcast. They start things off discussing Kyrie Irving’s press conference before the Toronto game on Saturday in which he went into much more detail about his injury situation. There wasn’t much good news with Irving saying he’s still dealing with considerable pain in his shoulder because of an impingement and bursitis. It will basically either be pain management for him or possible surgery which would keep him out for months. The guys discuss the situation and how the Nets are likely to handle this going forward. They also discuss Caris LeVert returning to action on Saturday, but the weirdness around him sitting out the Monday game against the Magic because of injury management. And finally, there’s discussion about what the Nets could do at the trade deadline especially around a guy like Joe Harris. We Got Nets Episode 7 - Live from the Cabin, Playoff Odds, Podcast Philosophy and Crunch-Time Guys 7/30/19

The We Got Nets Podcast is back! This time around they are recording a live and in-person episode. After a week hiatus, the WGN guys return to the podcast with a live episode from Upstate New York at Adam’s summer cabin. That means they are face-to-face discussing a variety of Brooklyn topics. Of course, they have to start with Doug’s assertion that there might be a value bet in the Nets missing the playoffs at +400 this season. He explains that this doesn’t mean the Nets aren’t a favorite to miss the playoffs but rather the elasticity around why that number seems palatable. Mainly, they look at some possible health concerns for Kyrie Irving and what any missed time for their new superstar would mean for the Nets’ chances. There’s also a discussion about the podcast *themes* after receiving some flack around what a Nets’ podcast should actually focus on. Are they a fan podcast? A statistical one? Both? And finally, there’s a look at some Nets crunch time lineups and how the positional overlap and possibly redundancy on the roster could be problematic until Kevin Durant returns. The We Got Nets guys are back on a Saturday morning recapping a big win over the Miami Heat on Friday night. Brooklyn was on an incredible downswing, losing seven straight games including a Wednesday overtime loss to the Thunder. But some good Kyrie Irving injury news, a Kevin Durant twitter beef and Spencer Dinwiddie contract news all came on Thursday/ Friday and some good vibes were there in the game against Miami. They got off to a hot start but ceded some points in the second half. The big story though was how they finished. The Nets closed strong in the fourth with big plays from Caris LeVert and Taurean Prince while Dinwiddie turned in, arguably, his best game of the season. We Got Nets Episode 17 - Wrapping up the China Trip, LeVert Making a Leap and more 10/14/19

The Nets wrapped up their trip in China with the two games against the Lakers and are now headed home for their final preseason game of the year, Friday against the Lakers. The We Got Nets crew, on their Brooklyn Nets Podcast, break down the trip to Asia, avoiding some of the geopolitical aspects while trying to focus on what came out of the trip from a basketball perspective. Obviously, the big news is that Kyrie Irving reaggravated his facial fracture and it’s uncertain whether he’ll miss any real time with the injury. They discuss the second game against the Lakers, a win for the Nets and provide some takeaways for the Brooklyn side of the ball. The most encouraging aspect was the play of Caris LeVert who really stepped up with Kyrie out and led the team in points and assists. He was easily the best player on the court for Brooklyn and could really facilitate the offense if we need to be without Irving for any stretch. They also look at the play from Taurean Prince in this preseason and how he could be in for a big year shooting the ball. Plus, Doug breaks down the Nets’ possible win totals in this piece:https://www.dailyfantasysportsrankings.com/2019/10/11/2019-2020-nba-betting-preview-will-the-brooklyn-nets-additions-add-up-to-more-wins/Make sure to visit www.wegotnets.com and follow on all social mediahttps://twitter.com/wegotnetshttps://www.instagram.com/wegotnets/https://facebook.com/wegotnets Learn more about your ad choices. We Got Nets Episode 10 - Caris LeVert extension, Wilson Chandler suspended, and Carmelo Anthony rumors

The We Got Nets Podcast, talking all things Brooklyn Nets, is back for Episode 10. Despite still being in NBA news no-man’s land, there was plenty to talk about on the Brooklyn front with a bunch of team-related news coming over the last week plus.Doug Norrie and Adam Armbrecht begin the podcast discussing the Caris Levert extension and what it means for both player and team. They both agree it’s almost a team sweetheart deal compared to some of the other extensions we’ve seen in the past. They speculate both the Levert injury and the nature of the Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant injuries might have played a part in getting something team-friendly on the books. They also look at the Wilson Chandler PED suspension and what that means for the Nets’ depth. There’s talk of working out guys like Carmelo Anthony and Joe Johnson and the guys make a statistical case about why that might be a mistake. And finally, they quickly discuss the Rodion Kurucs domestic abuse allegations that came out within the last day or so. All of this and more on the We Got Net, Brooklyn Nets Podcast. Show Notes: Learn more about your ad choices. We Got Nets Episode 14 - Preseason Opener vs. Sesi Franca Rapid Reaction 10/5/19

Nets basketball is back baby! The We Got Nets Podcast guys couldn’t be more pumped to basically start the season here with the Nets’ first preseason game against Sesi Franca. It was the inaugural game on Brooklyn’s new court and it ended up being an easy win against an overmatched Euro League squad. There was a bunch to take away from the game and how the Nets looked coming out of the gate. The guys go through each of the starters and most of the bench, what they saw in the course of the game, and some things to get excited about moving forward. Caris LeVert was a clear facilitator on offense, leading the team with 9 assists and adding 13 points. The dimes were a key and he got into a two-man game with the bigs whenever possible. The Nets were clearly working to utilize the athleticism of both Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan who got to the rim over and over in this scheme. Doug and Adam look at all of this and more in a breakdown of the Nets’ first preseason game.  Learn more about your ad choices.
