Rank #1: Lets Organize with Elaine Brown

Former leader of the Black Panther Party, Chairwoman Elaine Brown retells the incredible story of Michael Lewis convicted of a 1997 murder at age 13 in Atlanta and sentenced as an adult to life in prison. Through this young man’s experience (one of millions), Senator Turner and Chairwoman Brown look at the chilling system of incarceration in this country, the criminalization of Black people, how there has been no effort to change the design of this country AND MORE. (Elaine Brown is so hot in this episode, she burns.it.down. Hello Somebody!)

Rank #2: Let's Slay the Dragon

Recorded in August 2020, we're republishing LET'S SLAY THE DRAGON because less has changed than more -- and we need a reminder.
On July 27, 2020, Medicare For All, which SNT is a large proponent of, was voted down. She’s pissed, she’s fired up, she’s calling on Jesus to help us rise up, to help us unite, to help us get to a day of reckoning that says ‘No’ to a corporatist system that has run amok. Through a call to us and to progressive organizations, she makes a plea for Choice, Challenge and Change – that we be disruptors to reform and to revolutionize our entrenched system that does harm. She asks us to look at the evils we must abolish short-term (neofascism in the white house) and the long-term (neoliberalism of our nation) and to slay the dragon that is preventing the change to come. Rank #3: Let's Get Ella Bakered with Dr. Barbara Ransby

Our former history professor SNT prophesizes with respected historian, author, activist, intellectual and educator, Dr Barbara Ransby. These two history teachers make an intersectional analysis on where we’ve been and where we’re going by looking specifically at the Black woman’s experience in America and how that affects ALL people. Looking back to our foremothers and sisters like Ella Baker and Anita Hill, Turner and Ransby – bonded in defense of ourselves – present an educational prelude to how we must reimagine society in a fundamental way to see a future that embraces equality across race, class, gender, economics and wealth. Rank #5: Let's Over Love with Dr. Cornel West

Nina has a philosophically lyrical conversation with Dr Cornel West, author, philosopher, activist and whom she refers to as an “intergalactically known intellectual.”
Under the guise of comparing the blues to our painful current times, this Blues Brother and Blues Sister get low down and dirty about love – that type of bounce-back love that is needed to heal our current catastrophe, that type of love that the Blues songs encapsulate so well and that type of blues that Black folks have been singing since 1870. This episode will have you pressing rewind – just like any good song – so you can catch that “Doc West” melody, that phrasing, that messaging that will feed your soul in this time that is full of heartache but capable of compassion, creativity, smiles and styles. Get on this train, put your headphones on … and listen.
