#13: How To Stay Consistent With Your Workouts

ITS HARDER for me not to do my workouts than to do them. BUT that is 5 years in. I was spending $50 a month at a gym where the elliptical and 10 minutes on the lifting machines weren’t working…hmmmm surprise. Not to mention I was a full time unpaid intern, full time student, while living at a random house with strangers I met on craigslist because I was 1000 miles away from home…. I would rush to work bc I had zero morning routine (aka hitting snooze x10) then work from 9-5 and go to the gym from 530-630 and then drive home, cook dinner, do homework & internship work, binge greys anatomy…and then start all over again. I was sick of not seeing results, but also not knowing what the hell I was doing.. I was skeptical about at home workouts but I knew I needed to try something different to see different results. In 2015 I decided that instead of renewing my membership for another month and saying “this time it’ll be different”, I signed up for these at-home workouts, with zero confidence, zero knowledge in nutrition, zero equipment and zero clue of what I was getting myself into. 5 YEARS in, consistent with my workouts ever since I started. HOLY SHIT. I never thought that was possible I was the yo-yo workout girl in college and now I AM THE committed, driven, enthusiastic girl who has stayed committed to her workout routine for 5 years straight. 5 FREAKIN YEARS! So you can say “at-home workouts don’t work”, or that “this year will be different” but at the end of the day, nothing changes unless YOU change and nothing works unless YOU work FOR IT. Day in, day out. ARE YOU CHASING YOUR BUTTERFLIES?! I heard this said at our conference in california and it really resonated with me. Are you doing something everyday where you experiences  those butterflies start fluttering in your stomach. Your heart races. Your palms sweat. Your emotions are wack. You can't sleep. . Am I doing something everyday that gives me those butterflies feelings. Am I challenging myself, or pushing outside my comfort zone?! . Are you dreaming big enough, then taking action to go after those dreams? . If not….then what are you doing girlfriend?! Tomorrow is never guaranteed so why do we sit around all day wishing and hoping our life was different? . IF YOU DON’T know where to start maybe think of something you want to change in the world, somethign that is going on that rally bothers you and you want it to change.  THEN go after that thing. . What is something you want to do in your life: Do you want to meet new people, new friendships? Do you want to travel? Do you want to start the business? #8: NO MORE NEGATIVE NANCY!

Basically my negative thinking was affecting my relationships, my work, my mindset, my eating habits, my workouts… legit EVERYTHING.  I went from being a bulimic, extremely depressed, perfectionist person to now someone who NOTICES when I am triggered, or slipping back into my ways and use tools to STOP and switch that mindset in its tracks. HONESTLY being negative for so long is like a prison you are keeping yourself in because you are afraid of who that positive person might be. I believe anyone can break free of negativity for good. Why do I believe that? Because if I can do it (and I have) from the dark place I used to be in, then I trust these tools will work for you too—no matter where you’re at. I use to be in a conversation with someone and here myself either Downplay what I am doing (make it sound negative) so I don’t outshine, or sound boastful. I would respond negatively or find myself complaining about EVERY situation and be like “wtf shannon, shut up” stop being a complainer. I would then leave that conversation and then BEAT MYSELF UP for being such a negative human and why can’t i just be positive.. THEN THE CYCLE WOULD CONTINUE, CONTINUE, CONTINUE. IT FREAKIN SUCKKKEDDDDD!!! I am also going to be giving free workouts/meal plans out to you so you can try out the tools that I use daily as well! ____________ How to separate yourself from toxic relationships: This could be friendships, family, significant others, co-workers etc…First you have to identify is this person actually toxic for me or am I being triggered by something they have/do etc….. Sometimes in college I was triggered by some girls because they were so confident and proud of their bodies and would eat things without any care in the world. THAT would trigger me - why? Because they were mirroring back my biggest desires for myself. I was so insecure, I wasn't confident, I was struggling with eating disorders and body image. So BASICALLY I would get jealous of them or angry at them for no reason because I was being triggered. TOXIC relationships are ones that make you feel: Less than, you feel judged or used, you feel like you’re always apologizing or tip-toeing around them because you don't want to upset them or you feel like you can never be ENOUGH for that person, you’re always pushed to the side or forgotten. You Are always reaching out to them and they don’t come to you, you are sharing your thoughts/feelings/personal life and they don’t share anything with you. I had a relationship in highschool where I was always the one who was never doing ENOUGH: I will always remember him telling me “you have to prove to me you love me, you aren’t doing enough.” I even sent flowers to this guy totally regret doing that down but...still….I was desperate to have him love him back and he didn’t but it was that type of relationship that was so toxic for me. #24: How To Stay Motivated During Quarantine

Set an alarm to wake up. And stick to it. If you don't follow through with your goals, you're giving up on yourself! Lay out your workout clothes Set timers for tasks that you do. Set reminders or alarms at the beginning of the day for when you need to switch or accomplish tasks. Create a to-do list each morning: 3 work things, 3 personal things When you are going to bed make sure you are unplugging at least ½ hour before. Night routine. No screens. And read a book! This will help you get a better nights sleep so you are refreshed and motivated for the next day. Brain dump all the things you want to get done each week either on sunday or monday. Then organize them on what days you want to get them done! Make a plan in your calendar or phone! Meditate each day.
