Talking about...the present perfect continuos

This one tense that a lot of Spanish speakers don't use or make a lot of mistakes with. Recently, I've been correcting this a lot so I thought it was worth dedicating a bit of time to it.It makes sense because in Spanish you would say "Llevo tres años viviendo aquí" and in English we say "I've been living in Madrid for 3 years" (Cue brain explode emoji)in this episode I cover the main mistakes to avoid and ways that you can tell if you need to use this tense or not. I also cover how we can measure time with this tense using For and Since which is another sticking point for students. In short, this is an area where people make A LOT of mistakes so it's worth your time to check it out. ANNA WITH 2NS ENGLISH PODCAST. 10 minutes where I talk about different things in EnglishFind more of my free English content: https://www.instagram.com/anna2nsenglish/  Support Me and My Podcast: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/annawith2ns

Talking about...the phrasal verb "come up with"

There are some English phrasal verbs that are just more important than others. Come up with is one of them.We use it prolifically when we speak. It is fairly easy to grasp the meaining of it but there are some a couple of very common problems to avoid which I cover in this episode.I also put the phrasal verb in context for you with common collocations and explain the logic behind the use of the preposition UP in phrasal verbs and how you can use that to decode some phrasal verbs.

Talking about...5 things I've learnt learning a language

I recieve a lot of messages asking me about how you can feel more confident speaking a language. You may know or not but for the past 3 years I've been learning Spanish. Before I came to Spain I took a beginner's crash course and the rest is history. I've had to battle with feeling confident speaking Spanish and there have been times that I clam up and find it really difficult to speak in front of other people. So, today I want to share some reflections with you about these I've noticed and learnt about my journey so far.I hope it helps to put things in perspective and also to know that we are all in the same boat! ANNA WITH 2NS ENGLISH PODCAST. 15 minutes with Anna to advance your English. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anna2nsenglish/  Support Me and My Free Podcast Here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/annawith2ns

How to...use the verb "hope"

A lot of students get confused between the Verbs Hope and Wish. Today I'm going to tackle a few ways you can use the verb Hope in English in the Future, Present and Past.Students can use Hope a lot when talking about the future and present but less so in the past. It's actually a really common verb and use a lot in business English when writing emails, so it is a good thing to have a command of.I also show you a way you might hear Hope used to give insults! The sentence structures cover these things in Spanish Espero que + subjunctive in past, Espera que hayas + past participle, Esperaba que + subjunctive in past.I hope you enjoy this episode (see! we use it all the time) ANNA WITH 2NS ENGLISH PODCAST. 15 minutes with Anna to advance your English. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anna2nsenglish/  Support Me and My Free Content By Donating A Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/annawith2ns

4 phrasal verbs with "across" and how to use them

Following on from my episode last week breaking down phrasal verbs in English, this week I start with a selection of 4 Advanced English phrasal verbs with the preposition Across. As I said in the last episode, it is important to put phrasal verbs in groups that make sense to help you remember them well. ACROSS fits in two key categories of meaning which are Finding and Communication. I cover 4 phrasal verbs including; come across (econtrarse), to stumble across (encontrarse), to come across (dar la impresión) & to get across (hacer entender). Firstly I put each phrasal verb in context with sentences then I give you common collocations and how to use the phrasal verb technically i.e is it inseparable/separable and transitive/intransitive. I hope you enjoy this episode and that it sheds some light and clarity on these phrasal verbs which are often difficult for students to understand. ANNA WITH 2NS ENGLISH PODCAST. 15 minutes with Anna to advance your English. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anna2nsenglish/ Donate A Coffee To Support Me and My Free Content: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/annawith2ns

You have been requesting phrasal and so this is the first one I am going to do focused on some advanced but very useful phrasal verbs. I will tell you about a very helpful way to learn them and a preview of next week's episode. Think of this as a phrasal verb foundation which we will draw on in future episodes! Check out all my free English content on Instagram at @anna2nsenglish
