In this episode I share with you sales and marketing strategies for new product launches.  One of the questions I get asked a lot is, "My company just announced a new product...how should I go about marketing it to my network?"

In this training, I share with you my top tips and strategies for dealing with new product launches in your company.  When done correctly,  new product launches can be an incredibly powerful way to generate momentum in your business.

The sad reality is however, that most people go about new product launches completely the WRONG way.  They immediately go to their social media and start posting every day all the information about the new product, and how excited they are to share it with everyone.  

They start "spamming" their contact list, thinking that people will just jump all over the new offer just because they put it out there.  This is NOT the way you want to approach a new product launch.  You have to view the information that you have about this new product, etc. as a very valuable commodity.  The information that you have about that new product is a reason for you to reach back out to prospects and re-engage with them.  When you just freely put the information out there at every opportunity, you lose all of the power.  In my opinion, it actually de-values the information.  

In the training I share with you my top 3 ways to approach prospects with this new information, and I share some of my best scripts for you to use.  This episode is a longer than usual, but I promise you it is an hour of some of the best training you'll ever get in the area of new product launches.

In this episode we’re going to talk about how to overcome your fear of self-promotion on social media.  Almost anyone in network marketing can tell you that putting yourself out there is a vital aspect of the business, but most people struggle with this because they have fear of self-promotion.

This fear can come from different places, but we all deal with it.  You might ask yourself:  “What makes me credible to teach others and share my advice?”   Your degree, background, rank, or commission check have nothing to do with it.  There are 3 primary things that will make you credible to teach others:  The CONNECTION you have with people, the VALUE that you provide, and your CONSISTENCY.

Understand that no one else can teach a topic the way that you do: how you think about it, explain it, your life stories and research.  Don’t water yourself down thinking that someone else wonʼt be able to take the “real you.”  Itʼs your willingness to be authentic and unapologetically yourself that will make you stand out.

Thereʼs 2 primary motivating forces in life: love and fear.  When youʼre living in fear, you pull back from life, afraid to take action and put yourself out there.  When youʼre operating from love, everything is different.  You are open to all the life has to offer with passion, excitement and enthusiasm.

For many of you the issue isnʼt just a fear of failure or of being judged - itʼs actually a fear of success.  Deep down you donʼt feel worthy of success and it scares you to death.  You just have to have the courage to put yourself out there and get started.

In this podcast episode, we dive into a topic that I believe everyone can relate to which is how to overcome your fear of prospecting. I am going to give you a totally different way to look at fear and what I wish I would have known when I first started in network marketing.

The goal is not to eliminate FEAR… it is to build your FAITH

As humans we start off free from fear.  My son, Greyson, proves this!  He is a maniac and fearless in how he lives his life and what he’s willing to try each day. 

However, over time, as humans, we start to develop a fear that resides deep inside of us. 

When I started my own first network marketing business, I was so excited at first!....until I had to make that first phone call!  Then the fear stepped in!  In fact, I, Bob Heilig, hated prospecting at first! 

Oftentimes, we wind up clinging to our fears because we want to be certain and be in control.

We can call fear different things, but I want you to understand that no matter the term you use, they are all the same.  And the solution to overcome every single type of fear is the same as well.

You need to know this - the solution is not eliminating fear; it is building up your faith.

To be successful in your business, you must break the habitual pattern of negative thinking that you’ve created in your life.  This way of thinking has created your current results!

You must be able to interpret the things you are scared of – the ‘no’s,’ the rejections, the lack of responses from people you respect – in a different way than your current emotions are allowing.

And so, in this episode, let’s dig a bit deeper on what exactly fear is, exactly why we love to cling to our fears, but also what you need to consciously and intentionally see to overcome fear’s grip on your life and your business.

Somebody asked me, “What would you consider to be an effective Facebook prospecting post?” I thought about it, and understanding the concept of Legacy Leadership, a better question would be, “What would be the best thing for me to post on Facebook to help me make the biggest impact?”

Actually, social media has shifted to quality over quantity. In other words, posting your stuff and inviting people every day to join your business doesn’t work anymore. So, in this episode, I’m going to share with you a business strategy that you can apply to be successful in prospecting.

I have this concept called “Learning Out Loud”, and it focuses more on impact over income, quality over quantity. So anytime you hear, read or learn something that educates and empowers you, all you need to do is share that content with others on social media. Your goal is to enhance people’s lives by what you share. And the moment you share something that has value to someone, you immediately become valuable to them. This then creates that connection and relationship, and we all know a successful prospecting is born of that relationship.

Stop thinking like a customer, and start thinking like a marketer. Marketers think everything around us is potential content to share with others.

So here is my challenge for you: Start to share that quote that inspired your life, the strategies you heard on podcasts or read in a book. Get those old notebooks that you’ve accumulated and find something in there that you can share with someone else. Remember, teaching is the fastest way to success.

Let’s get into my ‘3 S’s’ Closing Strategy!

Strategy #1 is SIMPLE. Don’t complicate the process of sharing your products and business opportunity.  Remember, the less you say, the more money you are likely to make. 

Strategy #2 is SYSTEM. I want you to understand that it is the real key to building a team and getting new recruits is having a system for your team that anyone and everyone can utilize. Every aspect of your business must be system driven, and this what gives your people that necessary confidence because confidence starts out not in their own abilities, but their ability to follow a system.     

Finally, Strategy #3 is SUPPORT. Sell your prospect on the fact that they are locking arms with you. That you will be there for them every step of the way. If someone sees you as the person who can change their life, they’re going to join you.

Here is the secret I want to share with you when it comes to motivating your team – it’s called LEVERAGE!

Leverage is having the power to influence a person or a situation to achieve a particular outcome.

When it comes to creating leverage within an organization, you must understand these two concepts – WIDTH and DEPTH.

Width refers to the people that you personally recruit into your business and this is the first thing that you need to focus when starting a business.

Depth on the other hand, refers to the people that come into your team through the people that you personally recruited. Yes, what naturally happens over time is depth starts to develop but I want you to know that depth is your responsibility. You need to have that “chasing the business” mindset.

As a leader, don’t wait for depth to happen.  Go out and make it happen for yourself. And trust me, when you can build depth in a team it does something very powerful.

  1. Connecting with Leads

Once you have those leads, you must connect with them. Build relationships with those people who like, comment or engage with your posts. But the key thing is, don’t be pushy. You want to be human first, marketer second; build that social equity with your contacts.

  1. Inviting People to Look at Your Product/Business

After building rapport with your leads, you can then make an offer. But again, don’t be pushy. You are there to give them information that will help them with their problems. Share your testimony on how the business or product changed your life. Face your fear of making an offer, just be bold in sharing what’s going on. 

  1. Follow Up and Close

Following up is another essential key in building your home business empire. An effective way of doing this is creating a group chat for those people that are open and want to stay in touch. Have a group chat for those that are interested in your business/product because your prospects need to also meet other people within your circle.

  1. Teaching Them How to Master the 4 Steps

The end goal is to be able to teach these steps to the new clients. Again, it’s all about legacy leadership; helping people changed their lives and reaching their full potentials.

Strategy #1: Live Video Content On-Ramp. You need to warm your audience up for the promotion!  To do this, build up curiosity for your products through a series of live videos on Facebook, Instagram, or any platform you prefer. The key here is to create value; so, it’s very important that you focus on educating and teaching people around the area of your products.

Strategy #2: Share Customer Success Stories. I want you to understand that people don’t buy products.  They buy the results that the product gives. So instead of selling on price, focus on selling the value of your products by sharing customer success stories and how it made your customer’s life better and what problems you solved for your customers.

Strategy #3: Gratitude and Appreciation. Don’t lead with the promotion you.  Always lead with love, gratitude, and appreciation for the customers supporting your business. What does this mean?  Instead of jumping straight in with your product pitch, schedule some dedicated time to call, voice message, or even send a short, handwritten note for your current or past customers personally thanking them for their support.  

Strategy #4: ‘Steal a Deal’ FB Group Strategy. With this strategy, you set up a temporary ‘pop-up’ FB Group for your entire team to use during Black Friday. Your team members can then add their customers and prospects to this group. The exciting part is that each member can contribute a certain amount that will go to the discounts of the products. You will then pick a specific time for the event to happen so you can start promoting to everyone inside the group.

Strategy #5: Personally Connect with Your Top Prospects. Most network marketers rely too heavily on passive ‘Attraction Marketing.’ What I want you to do this Black Friday is change your approach, slow down, and get more focused on the most important people for you to connect with. At the end of the day, the best sales strategy out there is just genuinely taking the time to get to know what’s going on in someone’s life and caring about them.

Tip #1: Start leveraging the power of technology             

- The technology is already available for us; all we need to do is use it to our advantage. I suggest that you embrace things like doing a live video and hone your skills in marketing on social media.

Tip #2: Be more intentional about developing leaders on your team

- As leaders, we usually have this mindset that we must be on available 24/7. The catch is, to serve your team at the highest level you must become less available to them. Start working with your team and focus more on leadership development.

Tip #3: Be intentional about scheduling your business hours

- You need to set a dedicated time for work hours as well as family or self-time. Yes, you must be flexible in the needs of the business, but at the same time create those boundaries. Learn to create boundaries around your work and your personal life. Have that time of rest or simply a dedicated time with yourself, your spouse or your children.

In order for you to avoid burnout, understand the importance of rest and renewal, learn the importance of being intentional in your business, work smart and think about positive lifestyle outcomes.

Today’s episode is a Case Study of one of our students Kristy Wharton that increased her total team sales from $8,000 in 2018 to over $125,000 in 2019! 

When Kristy first joined the Legacy Leadership Academy in July of 2019 she was really struggling creating any kind of duplication on her team.  She had done a great job personally making sales and getting new recruits, but that success wasn’t translating to her team.

Should I be focusing on using a Business Page or my own Personal Profile?

In 2018, Facebook made a major change in terms of building Page audience that changed everything.

They severely started limiting the organic reach of Business Pages.

As of right now, the only way to build your Facebook business page today is through paid advertising.

However, running ads for NM opportunities and products does NOT  work. It’s a total waste of time and money.

That’s why I recommend you focus on building your personal brand on your Personal Profile and start selling YOU. Lead with LOVE and SERVICE on your social media posts, not selling and promoting.

Perfectionists think anything short of perfection is unacceptable.  Perfectionists spin this need as a ‘good thing.’  But, in reality, perfectionism is just a delay tactic….one that’s seen as ‘acceptable’ by society.  But, it’s also one that won’t grow your business. 

If you are a perfectionist, I want you to know this -- perfectionism isn’t just about having high standards. It’s defining your success in such a narrow way of thinking and then punishing yourself for any type failure. Perfectionism, if left unchecked, can kill both your personal and business growth long-term.

And procrastination is actually a BYPRODUCT of perfectionism. WHY?

Because perfectionists fear being unable to complete a task perfectly, they put it off as long as possible. The higher the fear of failure and ridicule, the more perfectionists procrastinate, and this is where the Perfectionism-Procrastination Loop begins.

In today’s businesses, social media is featured as ‘the solution’ for so many business problems we face. 

Some would go so far as to say that social media IS a business; however, THAT’S NOT TRUE.

I’m not against the use of social media as a tool, but relying on it alone means you are just one algorithm change away from not having a business anymore.

Focusing 90% of your time on attraction marketing, thinking that attraction marketing is the silver bullet to build your business, is actually killing your business.

In fact, attraction marketing has destroyed more businesses than it has actually helped in this profession.

So, what I teach is to begin using social media in a different way than what everyone else is teaching. 

Because, if we don’t start changing the way we use social media and the way we think about it, we are putting the future of our profession in danger.

Network marketing is not a social media or attraction marketing business. Social media is just the front end of the funnel. It is just one of the many ways that you can grow your business.

Think about this: What if one day you can’t use social media anymore?

This week we dive into a very SERIOUS issue for all of us involved in the network marketing profession.  Just last week the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sent warning letters to 10 different network marketing companies. 

These warning letters were a result of distributors making health and earnings claims related to the Coronavirus.  I hate to say this, but I saw this coming a mile away.  I’ve been pretty vocal about how bad we’ve been falling as a profession on social media in response to all of this.  Using this tragedy as an excuse to sell and recruit.

What we are dealing with right now in the world is a call to LEADERSHIP. ⁣

You are being called right now inside of your business to be a LEADER.

My advice to you is it should NOT be ‘business as usual’ for you - I want you to shift gears and take a radically different approach.

As a profession right now, we are failing miserably on social media. 

What the world needs today isn’t another sales pitch or marketing promotion - it needs a message of LOVE, inspiration, and HOPE.⁣

If you are a position of leadership - The world needs you right now, get on social media, be visible and be heard...⁣

Now is the time for us to put our own selfish interests aside from making that next sale, and let’s all come together as one, and do our parts to lead the world through this crisis.⁣

Don’t feed the fear that everyone else is peddling, spread LOVE and become a light for others to follow. ⁣

Choose to be a part of the SOLUTION, not someone that feeds into the problem. ⁣

BE THE LIGHT - encourage people through these difficult times, love on people harder than you ever have before, and SHOW UP.

What’s your capacity to HAVE in your life?

Whether you realize this or not, you have been preconditioned to only accept a certain amount of income and success in your life.

I see it all of the time – each of us has this subconscious threshold for money and success.

There is an approximate amount of income you earn that you feel comfortable HAVING.

And once we meet that threshold, odd things start happening in our businesses. 

If your income or results rise above this threshold, you’ll start to struggle with inconsistency, you go into self-sabotage mode, or you find a way to undermine your results.

And most of you (just like me), will get stuck at or around a certain rank advancement or level of results in your business because of this same threshold.

Because here’s the thing you need to know – the amount of success that you’re going to experience is determined by your MINDSET.

The real issue for most of us is that we have LIMITING BELIEFS around the areas of money and success that are holding each of us back from the results we want.

We, whether it’s consciously or subconsciously, believe we can only achieve a certain level success or make a certain amount of money. 

And when we reach that level, our self-limiting beliefs begin to kick in and limit us from moving farther ahead.

We can focus on having the ‘right strategies’ or taking massive amounts of action, but none of these will ever make a difference unless we each address our self-limiting beliefs.  

I want you to become aware of these limiting beliefs you have that are holding you back, and consciously adopt a new set of beliefs that will empower you to raise your CAPACITY TO HAVE in all these areas.

You may not want to hear this, but, here’s what I want to say to you…

If you’re not, at the very least, SHOWING UP and doing the work in your business, then you don’t get to complain anymore about your lack of results!

I think what some of you need is a little ‘tough love’ in this area -you need someone that cares enough about you to take a stand for you and your future success.

As most of you know, we’ve created the first ever leadership certification program for Network Marketing in the world - The Legacy Leadership Academy. This program is a 12-month program designed to give network marketers everything they need to create success in this industry. 

And there have been SO many success stories that have come from members of the academy. In fact, some of the students have been guests in the previous episodes of this podcast.

However, with all my efforts – designing the program, producing video trainings, and even creating a mobile app – it’s so interesting to me that some network marketers are posting on social media how ‘stuck they feel’ or ‘overwhelmed they are.’  Because here’s the thing - these are also the very same people who consistently do NOT make the time to show up and do the work.

Stop the blame game, don’t fall into the complaining trap, and start taking action.

In this episode of Biz Tip Friday, I’m going to answer the question - ‘How do I reach out and share what I do in an AUTHENTIC way, without coming across ‘too salesy’, to people that I haven’t spoken to in a while?’

Here’s the reality – eventually we are going to saturate our warm market and have to reach out to people that we know but that we haven’t been in contact with for a while.

However, out of FEAR, network marketers typically aren’t willing to actually reach out to these people. We are so worried that we might sound ‘too salesy’ or ‘inauthentic.’

However, you must understand that the product that you’re offering CAN change someone’s life.

Therefore, NOT sharing your products with people is the actual definition of being INAUTHENTIC.   

I want you to completely shift your mindset around this topic and know this:

The secret to selling with authenticity and passion is loving what you do SO much that you feel as though you’re doing people a disservice if you don’t tell them about your product.

And here’s the key – make it about THEM and about how this product or business opportunity can transform their lives.

134: Most Network Marketers aren't Real Business Owners

Do you ever find yourself working long, hard hours in your business - but for some reason can’t ever seem to create success?

If you answered ‘yes’ to this question, it’s more than likely because you aren’t treating your network marketing business like a REAL BUSINESS.

If you are still in the early stages of your business and you are building, growing, and learning, it’s OK. It can take a lot of work in the beginning to gain momentum while growing your business and team. 

However, if you’ve been in your business for over a year and you’re still not making any money, it’s because you’re treating it more like a HOBBY – and that is not OK.

These questions and so many more will help you authentically look at yourself and know whether or not you are a hobbyist or a real business owner.

And the answers to these questions will also help you decide where you need to show up differently in your business to change for the better and build the business of your dreams.
