Rank #2: Coach Tommy Moffitt - Best Strength Coach in the World and The Ultimate Motivator - Ep. 3

Podcast cover
Read more
I grew up watching LSU football and being one of those "overly passionate" SEC fans.  So I heard Coach Moffitt's war cry on hype videos all growing up.  It wasn't until just last year that I got a chance to work with him and the rest of his strength and conditioning staff.     He is one of the most studied men I've ever met in any discipline, and especially sports performance.  He is also one of the most caring men I've met when it comes to his athletes.  The combination of these two creates the highest "buy-in" factor I've ever seen in a weight room, which many coaches know is the most important aspect of coaching.     Obviously we go into some specifics about the LSU program, about sports performance, etc.  We also talk about how to become a better motivator and why that is important.  You are going to love this show.

Truth be told, Mat is a fantastic storyteller, and lucky for you he’s got plenty of them. Tune in to hear more about the man behind the medals, as we get a closer look at his early battles with drugs and alcohol, growing up with Olympian parents and the infamous Home Depot story from the 2014 Games.

Dr. Andy Galpin has nutrition down to a science. Literally.

With a master’s in Human Movement Sciences and a Ph.D. in Human Bioenergetics, it’s safe to say that taking advice from Dr. Galpin on the best ways to optimize nutrition for your health and performance or sticking to a meal plan is the opposite of a bad idea.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, the professor of strength and conditioning in the Center for Sports Performance at California State University joins the Brute Podcast for the second time ever this week to share his tips for mastering the basics of nutrition and the benefits of “batching” in order to stay on track with your goals.

Rank #10: Chris Hinshaw Explains why your endurance sucks and how to fix it - Ep. 10

Podcast cover
Read more
Since beginning to work with Jason Khalipa in 2013, Chris Hinshaw has quickly become regarded as the most successful endurance coach in the sport of Crossfit.  In the 2014 Games he worked with over two dozen individual Games athletes.  He works with athletes such as Rich Froning, Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, Mat Fraser, Lindsey Valenzuela, etc.  All the best in other words.     When we first met, we shared the common belief that Crossfit athletes are not training their endurance efficiently and in many cases are not reaching their potential, not even close.  Traditional Crossfit workouts predominantly increase your VO2max, which after 1 year or so reaches it's genetic potential.  What gets undertrained then is the athlete's lactate threshold, which basically means the highest intensity one can sustain without crashing and burning.  That number can increase dramatically and consistently.  The problem is that to train this, one must run at a specific heart rate.  One must train at or slightly faster than his/her lactate threshold to push that number higher.  All out efforts, like Crossfit workouts, do not achieve this goal.     Chris explains this problem and how he gets some of the fittest people on the planet, even fitter.    Check us out at: http://www.brUTEstrengthTraining.com SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtWR...
