Episode No. 24 How To Deal With Anxiety, Overwhelm + Your Inner Critc

Last month I took a break from my blog and biz because I was completely burned out. I took some time off to breathe, reconnect with my why and get my ish together. Taking that time off was the best decision I could've ever made but now that I am back in the game I’ve been struggling with some major anxiety. I don’t know what it is but I just haven’t been feeling like my bold, brave self. Lately when I sit down to start a project or do some dream work a sense of overwhelm and anxiety washes over me. Out of the clear blue sky, I’ve been afraid to hit publish, scared to show up on social media, second-guessing whether or not I should reach out to folks for partnerships and collabs. Which is so not like me. I'm usually front and center getting my dreams on and popping but lately, I've been playing small. I can't quite put my fingers on it but I think the reason that I'm having an anxiety flare up is that I'm at a point in my life and career where I am leveling up. I’ve been praying some mighty big prayers and taking some bold actions to match and my inner critic ain't having it.  She's been trying to punk me these past few weeks in order to keep me safe and sound in my comfort zone. I was letting her win for a second. That’s is until I was at home in my studio in the middle of a major meltdown and I asked myself a question that legit obliterated all of my anxiety and overwhelm. So if you’re like me and you’ve been letting fear, anxiety and your inner critic get the best of you-- check out today's episode. I’m going to share how I've been stopping anxiety dead in her little tracks and how I get back to doing the work God has purposed me to do. Topics Discussed In Today’s Episode: How to lovingly validate your inner critic's concerns and still leap out of your comfort zone. The two different types of fear: Yirah and Pachad. One you want to embrace while the other keeps you stuck. Learn the difference between the two. The one question I ask myself that crushes my anxiety and overwhelm every single time. Check Out Episode No. 24: How To Deal With Anxiety, Overwhelm + Your Inner CriticResources Mentioned In Today’s Episode:This post contains affiliate links.  Which means if you decide to purchase an item that is linked I will receive a portion of the sales to help fund #NRJ! Episode N0. 64 Nurturing The Relationship You Have With Yourself

[Tweet "The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.”- Diane Von Furstenberg"]A few years ago I went through a pretty rough breakup and as I was trying to wrap my head around the whole ordeal I kept reading articles that told me to love myself. I feel a little silly admitting this but I'd sit back and be like "BUT HOW THOUGH?!" I did all the shopping, all the mani's and pedicures; but I still felt like crap. And so I began on a quest to discover what it truly meant to love myself. And what I've found over the years is that for me it has been more about nurturing the relationship that I have with myself and less about taking trips to the spa. Showing myself some love has looked a lot like unlearning my limiting beliefs and behaviors. Speaking up for myself when my natural tendency (a.k.a learned behavior) is to keep quiet because I don't want to ruffle any feathers. It's been validating my own emotions and opinions instead of searching for some outside source to do it. For the past few weeks, we've been talking a lot about our relationships with other people and I thought it was only fair that we spend some time chatting today the most important relationship we'll be in for the rest of our lives--the relationship with ourselves.Check Out Episode No. 64 Nurturing The Relationship You Have With YourselfTopics Discussed In Today’s Episode: How to start prioritizing your needs + desires Why it's so important to start cultivating the relationship you have with yourself Warning signs that you need to show yourself some love ASAP Dismantling limiting beliefs + enhancing your positive self-talk Respecting your own boundaries that you've set for yourself + not violating them any longerResources Mentioned In Today's Episode:  Grab your tickets to The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast Meetup + Coworking Session. Episode No 5. Everything Is Figure-It-Out-Able

How many times have you had an idea or a dream but you didn't do anything with it because you didn't know how? One thing that keeps us from accomplishing our dreams is that we don’t know how to do things. We get stuck in a rut because we don't take the steps to gain knowledge in the areas where we struggle.Listen, I get it. When I started No Real Jewelry, I had no clue what I was doing. But I didn't let that stop me. It took hustling to figure out everything I didn't know how to do. I found a way to make the things I wanted to happen happen. I taught myself how to take bomb pictures and how to promote myself to brands and get to where I am today. In this week's episode of the Sunday Jumpstart Podcast, I share how to move past the "I don't knows" and learn how to figure it out. I live by the motto that everything is figure-it-out-able. Don't let inexperience and lack of knowledge keep you from making ish happen in your life and in your career. Episode No. 76 The Truth About Clarity

[Tweet ""Don't get so caught up in having the complete picture all figured out. You have to trust that some stuff will be revealed once you take action.""]Oh, clarity, the gift, and the curse.Clarity is such an essential tool for us #goalgetters. We need it in order to ensure that we're taking the right steps in our lives, goals, and business. But here's the thing though, sometimes clarity likes to hide behind its dear old friend- ACTION. That's right. There will be times in your goal chase when you won't know your next step until, well, you take a damn step.I know it would be so much easier if we could all just look into a crystal ball and see all the good, the bad and the ugly before we took our respective leaps of faith. But i'm afraid that it just doesn't work like that. It's more like get an idea, follow it through (even though you're scared 💩 less), commit to doing the work (even when you might not see results) and then boom a LITTLE bit of clarity comes! Wash, rinse, repeat.Well most of us don't like that cycle very much. We'd much rather have everything all mapped out. And so what happens? We get stuck + won't commit to our goals because we're waiting around on a big, crystal clear aha moment instead of doing the work so that the clarity comes. In today's episode, we're demystifying the whole clarity thing so that you can stop waiting on it and get to doing the dream work to make ish happen in your life!Check Out Episode No. 76Resources Mentioned In Today's Episode: This week's listener wins comes in from Ashley! Episode No. 61 The Lowdown On Situationships With Natalie Lue

[Tweet ""When we treat ourselves with love, care, trust and respect we will not accept less from somebody else that can't be or do what we already can for ourselves. - Natalie Lue of @baggagereclaim""]According to Urban Dictionary, a situationship is a relationship that has no label on it. I like to call them Psuedo relationships. It's when you're "dating" someone and it feels almost like a whole relationship but not quite. You and your boo may always  hang out, finish each other's sentences, have sex, go out, meet friends and family but when it comes time to have THE talk about making things official and committing to each other, someone always says;  "Nah, why mess up what we have with a label?"🤨 (That's my-- make it make sense face.) Anyway does that sound familiar? It does to me because I have been in more than my fair share of situationships. And since it's summertime and everyone is out in these streets living their best lives meeting new boos and boo thangs, I decided to invite relationship guru, Natalie Lue onto the show. Today she's spilling all the tea on why we allow ourselves to get into situationships and how to finally walk away from them.Topics Discussed In Today's Episode: Why we seek out partners that are emotionally unavailable Setting relational intentions + boundaries How to get into the habit of expressing your wants + needs The signs that you might be in situationship Why situationships wind up hurting you in the end How to ask those big questions + not feel bad for asking them How to end situationships Check Out Episode No. 61 The Lowdown On Situationships With Natalie LueResources Mentioned In Today's Episode: Natalie's Blog: Baggage Reclaim | Podcast: The Baggage Reclaim Sessions  | Instagram: @NatLue Mr. Unavailable And The Fall Back Girl By Natalie Lue  Ready to work together? Episode No. 20 You’re Allowed To Change Direction (In Your Goals, Life + Career)

Available on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher + Google Play [Tweet "You're allowed to dream new dreams." -Jessica Lauren"]Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be an actress. So I did what most aspiring young artists do-- I uprooted my life and moved away from my family and friends to pursue my acting career. I invested tens of thousands of dollars on headshots, classes, the whole nine. I went to audition after audition and heard hundreds of “Nos” until 2015. In 2015 my luck finally changed and I started booking major acting gigs, but guess what? I wasn't all that happy. You see, 2015 was also the same year that I started NoRealJewelry.Com and what started out as just a creative outlet for me quickly turned into my new found passion. My little blog showed me that there were other sides to me. I wasn’t just an actress like I thought I was my whole life. I discovered that deep down inside of me I was also a writer, a photographer, an encourager and many other things. So my dreams began to shift drastically. I said it because I KNOW it.The minute you decide to go to the gym instead of drinking with the girls, things will begin to shift.Or when you decide to enroll in that real estate class instead of spending that money on another trip to Jamaica, get ready for some major side-eye eye from boothang. You see your loved ones are used to you showing up to every single thing, every single time. When they call, you answer. Texting? Yep, you're usually Johnny on the spot. But the dream work will require some dedication and focus from you. It will require sacrifice. It wants you to put in the time. Big time. They say it takes 10,000 hours to become a success. Why? Well because I've been there and seen it happen first hand. One huge mistake that I've made in my Creative Entrepreneurial journey is not being the best friend I could be to my loved ones. It’s hard to admit it but I’ve lost a very dear friend because of the hustle.I’ve missed graduations, baby showers, weddings and birthdays all because I was trying so hard to make this dream of mine work.So how do you do it? How do you chase after your Oprah sized goals and still show up for your loved ones? In today’s episode, we're going to talk about how to honor your purpose and still maintain healthy relationships and friendships.Check Out Episode No. 23Resources Mentioned In Today's Episode: The Productivity Show Episode No. 16 Creating Non-Negotiable Dream Work Hours Forest AppThis week's episode is brought to you byPretty Brown BoxGood Bye Miss, Hello Mrs. Box //  Mommy & Me Gift Set // Custom Corporate Gift // Just Because BoxFounder of Pretty Brown Box, Lorielle JacksonToo many occasions & not enough time? Episode No. 65 Recommitting To Your Hustle

One of my biggest goals this summer was to make sure that I had fun, and fun I had! I went to every rooftop, speakeasy, day party, festival BBQ, you name it. And guess what? I loved every single minute of it! Here's the thing though, while I was out and about sipping on Margarita's and living my best life,  I lost sight of my hustle a little bit. I was so busy key-keying that I let some of my goals fall by the wayside. Once August rolled around I could feel myself flirting with major burnout so I decided that hell or high water September would be a-- "girl sit yo ass down somewhere and get back focused on your hustle"-- September. So I spent some time last weekend reconnecting to my why.  I set some intentions, created a strategy and decided to execute the hell out of it over the course of the next twelve weeks. Basically I activated beast mode! Are you ready to do the same thing? Ready to knock the dust off your to-do list and recommit to your goals? Well, today's episode is for you because I'm walking you through the very process I went through to help me get clear about my desires, prioritize my next moves + have some fun along the way. Oh yeah + I created these journal prompts to help you figure out what your next moves are too. Episode No. 53 The Importance Of Investing In Yourself

[Tweet "The best investment you can make is in yourself. "]Y'all know that I am the queen of bootstrapping. I will use what I got to make some magical ish happen in my life and business. Expensive mic for the podcast? Nope, I just use my iPhone headphones to record the show. Fancy DSLR camera to take pictures for the blog? No mayum I just use my trusty iPhone. After nearly 4 years of bootstrapping my business, your girl is tired and ready to level the heck up. So I recently made a major investment in my business in hopes of taking NRJ from hobby to a full-blown, full-time profitable business. Is it scary? Hecky yeah! I've never made such a huge financial investment in my creative entrepreneurial journey. But it was definitely time to. If I'm being completely honest I feel like I've hit a wall. I created NRJ and carried this bad boy for 4 years on my own but now I feel like I'm stuck and I need some help scaling it to the business I know it can be. So I decided to push past the fear and do what I have to do to make ish happen! Have you been in my shoes before? Have you bootstrapped your hustle and now feeling like you've hit a bit of plateau and ready to make the necessary investments to level up? Are you thinking of investing in a coach, a trainer, a seminar, an e-course, or a specialized degree, etc? Well, today's episode is for you! Today I'm sharing my experience hiring a business development coach, having peace about making such a huge investment and how to know when it's time to ditch the bootstrapping and level up in your goal chase + life. Check Out Episode No. 53 "The Importance Of Investing In Yourself"Resources Mentioned In Today's Episode:*This post contains affiliate links.  Which means if you decide to purchase an item that is linked I will receive a portion of the sales to help fund #NRJ! Episode No. 30 Making Joy A Priority

[Tweet "In between goals is a thing called life, that has to be lived + enjoyed."]It's Sunday, so you know what that means, right? It's time for us #GoalGetters to grab our planners and plot out how we're going to conquer this week-- Beyonce style. Time to schedule those meetings, study sessions, and upcoming events that can help us get closer to our goals. Can I take a peek at your planner right quick? Hmmm... just what I thought.🧐 It seems to me that you have everything all sorted out but I can't seem to see where you scheduled some intentional joy time in there. Hey listen, don't worry. I used to do it all the time too. I'd make sure I got all the things done, but fun? Adventure? Exploration? Hell to the naw naw! It was all hustle for me. That is until I found myself in yet another creative/emotional rut. I was starting to face burnout again for the 50 millionth time. 😒 So what did I do? I made joy a priority!Every week I'd take my planner and pencil in something fun (preferably free), or adventurous that would help break up the monotony of the dream chase.  And let me tell you it dug me out of my funk and helped me to reconnect with me again. If you're anything like me-- all work and no play-- then this week's episode is for you! Check Out Episode No. 30 "Making Joy A Priority"Resources Mentioned In Today's Episode:Girl's Night In Club Are you a small business owner and want to share your next event, launch or product with the SJS audience?
