Eldra Jakson III, Co Executive Director at The Inside Circle Eldra Jackson III Eldra served 24 years of a life sentence; the last eight were spent sitting with Inside Circle eventually leading to his release from New Folsom Prison in 2014. A living example of successful rehabilitation and re-entry, Eldra has dedicated his free time on the outside to serving at-risk youth, and acting as a facilitator, trainer, and mentor.  He is a writer and sought after public speaker on the topics of at-risk youth advocacy, effective criminal justice rehabilitation and turning around ‘toxic’ masculinity. Stella DeMont, founder of Whole Being Alignment, vivacious warrior Stella: Eleven episodes of pneumonia affected Stella between the ages of one and twelve. Yes, ELEVEN different episodes. 49. Holiday Self-Care Tips That Will Change Your Life with Eva Hagberg Fisher

Riva Lombardi, actress, mother, gratitude practicer   Riva Lombardi and Unexplained Infertility: You’ll hear a baby gurgling (occasionally screaming) on and off through this episode—  this story of unexplained infertility ends in the birth of a beautiful little girl. In fact, eight-week-old Birdie was given just a 10% chance. But, she’s here and she’s loud and she’s healthy. Birdie came after five years of struggle—miscarriages,heartache, devastation, hope—on the third IVF cycle. In this episode, we discuss Riva’s journey with her husband, how they made it through, and they’re doing today. Below you will find a more in-depth list of what we discuss, but, first, some advice from Riva—what to say and what not to say to someone struggling with infertility: Maybe don’t say things like–  “Do you really want kids?” (said as her 2 wonderful children run crazily around the house playing) “Oh I had a miscarriage too, it’s not the end of the world” (says the woman with two children who conceived naturally) “How old are you?” (followed by an assessment of whether or not you ‘still have time’) “A friend of a friend tried for 4 years and then just got pregnant on her own!” (btw- I know a bunch of infertile friends who told their friends that too) Instead, try saying/doing things like –  “I’m so sorry you’re going through this” (and then sit quietly, listen, then offer to make them a cup of herbal tea because their acupuncturist probably has them off caffeine) “How are you? Do you want to talk about it?” (give them the option. I know it makes you feel uncomfortable, but try it out) After a miscarriage, failed cycle, or just because you know that they’re going a monthly struggle, send flowers, a card or candy. Acknowledge that they just lost the baby they’d been hoping for, or that another month of disappointment went by. My husband’s Aunt came to me one day with a book on infertility,“I bought you this, and I bought one for myself too, so I can try to understand what you’re going through”.The book didn’t matter (albeit it was an interesting read) but the idea of her trying to understand what I was going through was everything I had ever wanted. It was the single most caring thing anyone had ever done for me.  Weekly Challenge: My dear friends, this is just a theme lately: Gratitude. I recently did an Instagram story on gratitude. I’ve written on gratitude here and I was recently interviewed by the Five Minute Journal on my relationship with gratitude. I love this stuff—I call it “finding your G-Spot” for a reason. <p>Riva Lombardi, actress, mother, gratitude practicer</p> <p> </p> <h1>Riva Lombardi and Unexplained Infertility:</h1> <p>You’ll hear a baby gurgling (occasionally screaming) on and off through this episode—  this story of unexplained infertility ends in the birth of a beautiful little girl. In fact, eight-week-old Birdie was given just a 10% chance. But, she’s here and she’s loud and she’s healthy. Birdie came after five years of struggle—miscarriages,heartache, devastation, hope—on the third IVF cycle. In this episode, we discuss Riva’s journey with her husband, how they made it through, and they’re doing today. Below you will find a more in-depth list of what we discuss, but, first, some advice from Riva—what to say and what not to say to someone struggling with infertility:</p> <strong>Maybe don’t say things like</strong>–<br> <br><ul> <li>“Do you really want kids?” (said as her 2 wonderful children run crazily around the house playing)</li> <li>“Oh I had a miscarriage too, it’s not the end of the world” (says the woman with two children who conceived naturally)</li> <li>“How old are you?” (followed by an assessment of whether or not you ‘still have time’)</li> <li>“A friend of a friend tried for 4 years and then just got pregnant on her own!” (btw- I know a bunch of infertile friends who told their friends that too)</li> </ul><strong>Instead, try saying/doing things like</strong> –<br> <br><ul> <li>“I’m so sorry you’re going through this” (and then sit quietly, listen, then offer to make them a cup of herbal tea because their acupuncturist probably has them off caffeine)</li> <li>“How are you? Do you want to talk about it?” (give them the option. I know it makes you feel uncomfortable, but try it out)</li> <li>After a miscarriage, failed cycle, or just because you know that they’re going a monthly struggle, send flowers, a card or candy. Acknowledge that they just lost the baby they’d been hoping for, or that another month of disappointment went by.</li> <li>My husband’s Aunt came to me one day with a book on infertility,“I bought you this, and I bought one for myself too, so I can try to understand what you’re going through”.The book didn’t matter (albeit it was an interesting read) but the idea of her trying to understand what I was going through was everything I had ever wanted. It was the single most caring thing anyone had ever done for me.</li> </ul> <h2>Weekly Challenge:</h2> <p>My dear friends, this is just a theme lately: Gratitude. 27. The Struggles (and Triumphs) of Unexplained Infertility – Jackie Shea

Shona Curley, co-owner of Hasti Pilates,  founder of red kite meditations,mother, Lyme warrior Shona Curley’s Lyme Journey: Shona is one of the seemingly lucky ones: She found the tick and pulled it out. But, even that didn’t stop chronic lyme disease symptoms from appearing, and, surprisingly, it also didn’t streamline her diagnosis. There’s no doubt that, in Northern California where Lyme disease is prevalent, Shona should have been quickly diagnosed based on her symptoms and the tick, but doctors denied the possibility of a Lyme infection for over two years.  A barrage of symptoms—constant colds, severe GI issues, insomnia, crushing anxiety, noise and light sensitivity, cognitive impairment—left Shona and her family terrified and desperate for answers. It was a by-chance meeting with a random doctor who listened that left her with a Lyme diagnosis less than one year ago. Since then, Shona has found great healing from chronic Lyme disease in Buhner herbs, antibiotics, a medical intuitive, amalgam removal, and her own meditations tailored specifically for Lyme disease sufferers. Preet Royce, Tantric counselor, relationship coach, dancer Show Notes: Preet Royce (https://www.beloveandbeloved.com) was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at 27 years old in the midst of her fast-paced, maintained-by- caffeine, lifestyle. Royce got into action quickly, treating with Western medication and simultaneously landing in a Kundalini yoga class that introduced her to a deeper experience of healing. Through many years of trial and error, Preet has found the deepest healing in living an authentic life—for her, this means shaking and grooving, baby.. all the way to West Africa! (Curious about using dance to heal? Listen in!) Today, she is five years free of Western medication and their side-effects (brutal for Preet), and she thrives engaging with her own healing process. Weekly Challenge: “Dance, dance, dance. Dance, dance, dance all night long!” Just kidding. It’s not quite that, but those Steve Miller lyrics have taken my brain hostage at the moment! OK, this week we were challenged by Preet to dance to one song that encapsulates our feelings every day. This can look however you want it to look, including wiggling your toes or shaking your shoulders from bed. Royce got into action quickly, treating with Western medication and simultaneously landing in a Kundalini yoga class that introduced her to a deeper experience of healing. Through many years of trial and error, Preet has found the deepest healing in living an authentic life—for her, this means shaking and grooving, baby.. all the way to West Africa! Today, she is five years free of Western medication and their side-effects (brutal for Preet), and she thrives engaging with her own healing process.</p> <h2>Weekly Challenge:</h2> <p>“Dance, dance, dance. 51. How to (Actually) Help a Sick Friend

David Bransky, Developmental Alphabioticist Alphabiotics  Just like computers, when things start overheating, we need to reboot and reset in order to function most effectively. (Or function at all.) Alphabiotics is an alignment process that aims to do just that: Reset the body into its pure state of balance and relaxation. The Alignment process is accomplished with you lying on your back with your head at the high end of the alignment table. The process involves a unique and invigorating movement of the head and is accomplished within less than a minute. Instantly, the brain hemispheres integrate, overly tight and tense muscles relax, weak muscles strengthen, hips and shoulders level, legs become even, and balance is once again restored.  The process is gentle and easy.  As we know, stress plays a huge role in chronic illness. Do I consider alphabiotics a modality that can support you in healing from chronic illness? Absolutely. As always, listen to your body, ask a doctor or someone you trust, but, as I say in this episode, healing comes in many forms, I just do what works. Alphabiotics WORKS for a lot of people. David Bransky, Developmental Alphabioticist <br><br><h2>Alphabiotics </h2> <p>Just like computers, when things start overheating, we need to reboot and reset in order to function most effectively. (Or function at all.) Alphabiotics is an alignment process that aims to do just that: Reset the body into its pure state of balance and relaxation. The Alignment process is accomplished with you lying on your back with your head at the high end of the alignment table. The process involves a unique and invigorating movement of the head and is accomplished within less than a minute. Instantly, the brain hemispheres integrate, overly tight and tense muscles relax, weak muscles strengthen, hips and shoulders level, legs become even, and balance is once again restored.  The process is gentle and easy.</p> <p> As we know, stress plays a huge role in chronic illness. Do I consider alphabiotics a modality that can support you in healing from chronic illness? Absolutely. As always, listen to your body, ask a doctor or someone you trust, but, as I say in this episode, healing comes in many forms, I just do what works.
