Rank #1: 17 – First Strike with first timers
Playing through the new 8th-edition starter set with a couple of novices.
I invited two of my buddies from work to spend an evening trying out a Warhammer 40K 8th-edition starter set, called First Strike. With an attractive price point ($40 in the US) and a handful of models on each side, it makes entry almost a no-brainer. Take a listen as we chat before and after playing through the missions. This episode is about twice as long as normal, but I think you’ll find it’s a pretty quick listen anyway.

Rank #2: 15 – 8th Edition, explored
It’s finally here. #New40K
A month has gone by and I’ve put some thought into the format of the show, on top of just being really busy in general. A month since our last episode, but somehow I’m still thinking about 8th Edition 40K. I wanted to do another show based on the full reveal of the Dark Imperium boxed set and novel. Take a listen to the new, spiced up and more interactive format of the show. I may make some further changes, but let’s see how these ones go first. If you want to hear the new theme music in the intro, go take a listen to the full file in this post.

Rank #4: 21 – Interview with Cadian Shock: Part 1 of 2
Part 1 of my conversation with Cadian Shock about his web apps.
In the first part of the interview we chat with Jake, the mastermind behind a number of popular and useful gaming aids for Warhammer 40K. He’s created a bunch of helpful material for gamers and he’s not about to stop anytime soon. If you’re not familiar with his work yet, well… All I can say is “you’re welcome.”

Rank #5: 13 – Shadow War and 8th Edition
Shadow War Armageddon might be the perfect funhammer game.
If you think I’m talking smack, maybe you didn’t play Necromunda back in the day. Take a listen to this shorter-than-usual episode and see why I think it’s the bees knees for casual gamers.

Rank #8: 16 – The Brassclad skitarii of Kal’koplos
My homebrew Adeptus Mechanicus force for Warhammer 40K.
Take a listen as I chat about the Adeptus Mechanicus faction for Warhammer 40K, and my thought process when I created my own forgeworld’s lore and color scheme. Kal’koplos fits neatly in with the existing lore for both my Eagle Eyes space marines and my Freeblade Imperial Knight, the Queen Bee.

Rank #9: 04 – Interview with Mr. Pink: Part 1 of 4
The Modern Synthesist himself.
I’m thrilled to finally release the first part of my interview with Mr. Pink. We had a great conversation, and this first section covers his gaming roots, as well as some of his fantastic work on his Dark Eldar conversions.
The next part comes out the following week, on March 15th.
Once again, I strongly encourage you to check out his work before you listen to the interview so you can see some of the items we’re talking about:
Mr. Pink is also cool enough to have made a video that shows a lot of the models we’re talking about. It’s a really cool way to check out this episode if you’re by a computer. This is so awesome! You should follow his YouTube channel while you’re at it.

Rank #10: 14 – 8th Edition as cinema
A different take on 8th Edition Warhammer 40K.
There’s a lot of coverage about the ‘new Warhammer 40K’ and I wanted to share how I think about it. I like to think the updates and changes are like a film director and editor, making tweaks that alter the way we see battles unfolding in our mind’s eye.
