383 I Focus On The End To Know Where To Begin | January 2018 Thursday Week 3

Thoughtful Thursdays-#374 January 18th The Strong Within Daily Affirmation Podcast I Focus On The End To Know Where To Begin “I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.”~Dalai Lama Maybe I might be oversimplifying how our lives work, but where your focus goes is where your energy flows. Where your concentration resides is what will actualize. Where your emphasis is put is what will determine your output… Where your attention lies is whether you get the whole meal or only the french fries…. too many rhymes??? Never. My rap game is on point…and as the famous rap group of the 90’s Digital Underground said in their song The Humpty Dance… “top 10 rappers please allow me to bump thee.” Ok, but in all seriousness, we overcomplicate life by putting our attention upon the things that should have no worth in deciding what we can achieve. We focus on how things aren’t going right, we focus on who is in our way, we focus on how we aren’t talented enough…and not that those things don’t matter…but they aren’t the final truths in who we become. We decide our fate by sinking the ship before we’ve even pushed off from the shore. Many of my mentors have talked about a similar idea, that’s said differently. Dr. Wayne Dyer says, “Think from the end.” Stephen Covey say, “Begin with the end in mind.” And I’m sure there are a multitude of other ways it’s been said over the course of humanity. But this idea gets looked over because it seems too simple to really have any power in helping us, and we think that maybe it might be too hard to see what we want at the end of what we’re chasing after. We feel we have to have all the answers right away, or that we need to know every twist and turn along the process of our pursuits. But that puts more pressure upon us, and instead of creating a clarity of why we are doing something…we then create a habit of jumping without really thinking. And sometimes we need to jump to get moving, as we can overthink and over complicate things, but if it becomes a way of existence …then we’ll always live our lives trying to find our way out of a dark tunnel with no flashlight. Dr. Wayne Dyer talked about thinking from the end when he would write his novels. He would see the cover. He could visualize it finished and see it in his and other people’s hands. And by thinking from the end, he said that when he wrote, “all he had to do was put his pen to the page and the words came out.” He was divinely inspired as the creative process wasn’t just about him creating but him connecting to something more than just himself. And I think that’s why we think creativity is so hard. We say we have to be inspired, we have to sit down for hours and hope it happens. We think that it’s all about getting talented enough to be able to put great work into the world. And yes we need to sit down, we need to put in the time to hone our crafts, but we’ve been coming at creativity from the wrong angle. If you were to talk with some of the greatest artists, the greatest writers and poets, or the greatest speakers… a good amount of them will say, “yes I did the thing I set out to do…but I connected to something more. The greatness in my work just happened, as something more transpired than just ‘me’ doing the work.” Which makes me think about when I’ve given various speeches on living a more fulfilling existence through my life coaching business. And while I practiced and prepared weeks before the date I was to give the presentation, I still would get nervous right before speaking wondering if I might forget something or maybe I might not connect with the audience. And so I feel this nervousness rise right before I get up to talk…freaking out that I’ve forgotten everything, and I don’t remember how to start. And that has literally happened where I got so anxious I forgot the exact beginning I wanted to start with. I think it was a story, or a silly joke, or something to help me segue into the topic…and even though that happened, I still did fine. Because if I’ve done the preparation before the presentation, then it just flows. The funny thing is I usually like to film my talks to get better from viewing them, but also because I don’t remember what happened during the talk. I just get in flow, and the words just pour out from me as if it was half me and half something more than me. Over the years, I’ve become better at hearing myself when I speak in front of big audiences. I want to be in flow, but I don’t want to be a zombie that has no clue what just happened from my talks. I’ve reminded myself that I need to pay better attention to the voices I’m hearing inside my head, pun intended, so I can connect better with the audience. You see, I get excited when I talk and I want to speak fast. So, I work to hear myself during a presentation to slow down my speech patterns consciously. I also work to pay attention to the crucial points that I really want to hit home with the audience. I work to create bookmarks in my mind that when I come to an important point, I will pause and repeat the idea back to them—for better information retention. The whole purpose I’m getting to, is that if we put in the time…the creativity will happen. But not because it was all us, but because we connected to something more than ourselves. And if you can think from the end, or begin with the end in mind with a crystal clarity…you’ll find the pathway more easily laid out for you. You’ll find you connect to something more than yourself more readily and more deeply. Great creativity is not in the course of saying, “look what I did;” it’s the journey of saying, “look in how I connected…with the work, with myself, and with something greater than myself.” Today’s Personal Commitment:What are you committing yourself to this year, the next 5 years, or the next 10 years? And have you thought about it from the end, to see with crystal clarity of how you’d like it to go? It’s not that this practice is an exercise in controlling things, but it’s about seeing that the more you practice the habit of visualizing things from the end, then the more you will see your power changing. You will see that what you think is what you create. It will be like you becoming a fortune teller…manifesting what you set in your mind. And the more you do it, then the faster things will come to you. There are energies and powers within this world that we never tap into because it’s always about physical work, it’s the idea of pushing through or pulling up your bootstraps no matter what happens. And mental and physical toughness are warranted in making your life great…but to connect to your greatness truly is about something more. It’s about being able to visualize goals with crystal clarity and think from the end, so you not only can begin creating them…but you also know where to begin. We get in the habit of planning our appointments for the day, knowing what we will wear for the day, knowing what we will be eating for the day but we never take the time to visualize that end goal with crystal clarity. What makes seeing things from the end so different than all those other smaller habits? So whatever your major goals are this year, I want you to get in the habit of seeing it in your mind every morning and night for 365 days. Try to get as crystal clear a picture of what obtaining that goal would look like, smell like, taste and feel like. See it in your hands, walk around it to see it from every angle. How will it change you and the people around you by reaching that goal? Be as vivid as you can, for the brain doesn’t know the difference between a real picture or a vision in your mind. So the more clearly you can see it in your mind, then the more likely you’ll be able to create it in your reality. So again I challenge you to visualize, to think from the end, and see your goal vividly every morning you get up and before you go to bed…and I challenge you to keep reminding yourself of your why. The more you know why you are doing something, then the more you will stay connected and motivated to the thing you pursue. 376 I'm Already Wealthy | January 2018 Thursday Week 2_

Thoughtful Thursdays-#367 January 11th The Strong Within Daily Affirmation Podcast I’m Already Wealthy “Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.” Epictetus I’m going to go deep on this podcast, so bear with me…grab some popcorn or whatever snack you prefer and let’s change together. One illusion we live our lives in, is that we don’t have what we want or what we need. And thus we put our energies into focusing on what we lack instead of putting energy towards creating the thing we want.  And when we put our attention on what’s lacking, we train our subconscious to continue to keep coming back to that place as if it’s our home. Which then conditions our subconscious to create energies that focus on keeping ourselves confined within “want” instead of achievement. The law of attraction states that likened things attract likened things. And there are people who say it’s all a bunch of malarkey, but it’s because they’ve named it something different. They’ve called it a miracle and act of God through prayer, they’ve called it the act of visualization and application, they’ve called it hard work and determination, or they’ve called it good energy focused efficiently…but in the end no matter what you call it, whether it be the law of attraction or something else, matters not…it matters about how you focus.   Ok, I’m going to get all brainiac on you here. Although I’m not a super genius, I’ll try to interpret these experiments as simply as I can for you. We’ve all heard of Einstein’s equation of E=MC2, or Energy=Mass times the speed of light squared, and basically this equation is saying that there’s no difference between mass and energy…they’re the same thing…which really blew my mind originally. Because how can energy have mass, how can it have form? And where I’m going with this, is that our thoughts are energy—which means they actually are physical things, they create things. But how can things that we supposedly cannot touch have form? Now before I get into experiment explaining this, think of it like this, while we cannot touch light physically, we still know it’s there…it’s still physically doing something. There was an interesting experiment called the double slit experiment. So how it worked, was a board was set up set up in front of a screen. The board would either have one slit or two vertical slits cut out of it. They slits looked like a capital letter “I.” Many different substances have been used in this experiment such as physical objects being shot at the board to light or lasers being shot at the board to understand how particles and waves act. The scientists wanted to understand what electrons were. Were they particles or were they waves? So they shot electrons at the board to see how they passed through the slit making an impression on the screen behind the board. What they saw, was when the electrons went through the single slit they acted like a particle, they behaved as something that had mass. They formed an I shape on the screen behind the single slit board. However, something interesting happened when the electrons went through the double slit. You would think the electrons would behave like they did in the first experiment and make two “I” shaped forms on the screen since the only thing that had changed was adding an another slit on the board. However what happened, was instead of two “I” shaped forms…it formed a band of multiple “I” shaped impressions of the slit on the screen. What this experiment proved is that electrons can be two things; they can be physical, and they can be waveform. They aren’t confined to being one or the other. And this left people confused for a long time on how to define an electron, as either a particle (something physical) or like a wave (nonphysical). What’s even crazier about this experiment is that it changes by where the observer is standing…or how they are measuring. Meaning if they wanted to understand why the electron acted like a wave and they zoomed in to see what electrons did during the double slit experiment…then the electron acted like a particle instead of a wave. So, what I really found this to mean…is even in physical scientific experiments…on the smallest level of looking at what all “matter” is made of—electrons…they’re changed by the way it’s observed. Which means the way you observe your life will determine how something will change. Your thoughts are actually energy, and energy is equal to mass, so where your thoughts focus upon…is what you will physically create in your life. If you observe your life on a higher positive vibrational scale…you will change your truths. It’s much more than just thinking positive; it’s about how you observe things. I like to say this example, “the reason people’s lives don’t change is that they only try positive thinking…when in fact it’s about positive ‘BE-ing’. It’s not about trying something; it’s about knowing and becoming the thing you want before you become the thing you want. How you decide to view an event is the physical truth you will create for your life.” I’ll include two videos so you can see the double slit experiment explained better at the bottom of this post on my website. Now in this final experiment, I’ll talk about, it will bring home what I was just saying. There’s something called sympathetic resonance, which basically states that likened things will take on the same frequency from the thing that’s vibrating. So in the experiment, two tuning forks are beside each other, but not touching each other. One tuning fork is struck, and then the struck fork is stopped by someone putting their fingers on it to stop the vibrations and the tone. Now most of us would think that would stop the vibration and the noise we hear, and it does, but only on the struck fork. The fork that was next to it, is still vibrating and you can hear the same frequency pitch that the struck fork emitted in that second tuning fork that wasn’t touched. So, what that means is the fork that wasn’t touched was affected by the other forks vibrational frequency. It took on the vibration and continued putting out the same noise. So now take this experiment and think about how your thoughts aren’t just thoughts. They are energy and they emit a frequency. So if thoughts are energy and energy is the same thing as mass, as something physical, then your thoughts are things. When your thoughts, your vibrational frequency, is put out into the world it basically is passed from one object…you…and then transferred to something within the world. Your focus will not only attract what you put your attention on, but it will also create it within this world as well. The law of attraction isn’t just thinking positively…it’s aligning your thoughts to match frequencies of the things you desire. The universe is all about harmony. So what you put out the universe reciprocates in perfect harmony. The universe doesn’t differentiate what is good or bad as we do, it just reproduces what you give to it. And so, if you focus and put out negative frequencies…they are returned to you. But if you consistently focus on higher and better vibrational frequencies, then those…are returned to you. Thoughts become things, and what vibrational frequency you emit into the universe is what will be created. But it’s more complicated than just creating things, it’s more about aligning yourself up with the frequencies that create the things you want. We have confused creating with alignment. The law of Conservation of Energy states that everything in this universe is neither created nor destroyed. When we truly understand this, then it’s not about creating our wants but it’s about aligning ourselves up with our wants. It’s about becoming the full embodiment of our wants before we obtain them. So I want you to really hear me on this…it’s not about creation…it’s about alignment. You and the universe are in a collaborative, symphonic, performance together working to create a mutual harmony. Everything you do will be harmony, but will it be the tune you wish to be aligned with, or will it be the return of the things you focus on that you don’t want. Because as they say, the universe doesn’t judge…it just grants your wishes of what you’re focusing upon. Now maybe this all might sound crazy to you, and I would’ve thought the same thing years ago, but I’ve seen too many miracles in my life to believe in them as only being happenchance or coincidences. And as they say, when the student is ready the teacher will appear, and many teachers appeared for me when I was open to seeing a deeper truth. There are three examples that come to mind that have proven to me of these principles being true…and if I don’t convince you, that’s ok because I believe you should find your own truth and learn to live by it, but I’m hoping to help you see another possibility. The first example of aligning myself was finding one of my greatest mentors, Mike. It was a time when I was looking for truth, not just what hand been spoon fed to me my whole life. I wanted to explore all possibilities. And it seemed rather lucky that at the time I was looking, that my actual next door neighbor, Mike, came into my life. And through a series of events, over a few years of being able to chat with him every day, I was gifted a chance to learn some of his higher wisdom no one had ever told me before. And while it seems like I was in the right place at the right time, it was the intention I put out into the universe…I wanted to hear a deeper truth and when I asked that Mike appeared…right next door in fact. The next example is always a pleasant surprise when it happens, but it’s happened so many times that even though I’m surprised, I know better as it not being a coincidence. I’ve had many good friends come and go in my life, and there’ve been multiple times I would think about them after a few years of not communicating at all. The latest one was my buddy Dillan, we hadn’t talked in about 2 or 3 years, and as I was getting in my car to go to work he popped in my mind. I said, “I need to call Dillan, I wonder how he is doing.” And the crazy thing is he called me. And it’s not that he called me a month later, he called me that exact day. Now mind you I wasn’t on Facebook looking for them, I wasn’t talking with friends or acquaintances who knew him who might have let him know I was talking about him. He lived in Washington at the time, and one small deliberate thought came into my mind, and I knew I wanted to talk with him. Now I don’t know if Dillan was thinking about me and that’s why he came up in my mind to call him, or that he felt my thoughts about wanting to connect and that’s why he called me…but I’ve lost touch with friends over the years, and I would think about them, and they’d call me back that day or week. It’s happened too many times over the years to be an accident or to be called a coincidence. And as Einstein once said…”coincidences are God’s way of remaining anonymous.” My final example of the power of aligning my thoughts was when I was laid off from work. I was looking for a job but not too hard at the time. And I was getting bored from eating Cheetohs, Ramen noodles all while playing video games all day. It’s amazing how hungry you get doing nothing. So yes, I was a lazy bum during this time. After getting to my boredom breaking point, I decided something had to change. I decided to send out resumes in full force by doing something different. I made sure that everything I sent out, the recruiter had to physically touch. I wasn’t going to email anything. I was going to physically go to the building and hand them my resume, or I was going to fax it in so they had to touch the piece of paper to get it, or I was going to mail it through the post office so they would have to open the envelope and physically touch my resume. In my second week of doing this, I started getting a bunch of calls. I was embarrassed I didn’t know who was calling me for interviews. I knew I sent out my resume to a bunch of companies, but I didn’t recognize any of the companies names that were calling me back. They say when you’re interviewing you should do your homework on the company, so I didn’t want to look like wasn’t doing my due diligence and not look interested or knowing anything about the positions I was applying for, but I had no clue who the company was when they contacted me. And after the 6th or 7th call within a week, I said sheepishly, “I’m really sorry to ask this, but I don’t know who you are, how did you get my resume? I don’t remember sending it to you.” And the recruiter said, oh I found you on an online resume site. Now while that wouldn’t seem weird, the funny thing is I had my resume on that site for two years and hadn’t heard a peep from anyone…even when I was in the job before I got laid off. Now people will say that I must have triggered something by going on the site to look for jobs, but I didn’t go to that site to look for job placement ads. The only thing that had changed was me putting out specific energy and it being returned to me. I got what I was looking for; it just didn’t happen exactly how I was expecting it. So in conclusion, the law of attraction has changed my life by teaching me that—what you can hold in your mind, you can create in your life…your mental energy creates substance. Your thoughts physically create things from where your focus resides. And there are four steps to help align yourself how you wish in your life: Know your imagination is energy; your thoughts create vibrations. Those waves will be put into the Universe The Universe will return what you put out there. The Universe is always in harmony with your thoughts, so pay attention to what you’re aligning yourself with. Learning from reciprocation. If the Universe returns what we give it, and we aren’t happy with how things are happening, be aware and ask how you can change your vibration. It’s about purity of mind. Your mind is like water; if you’re focusing on your lack, your weaknesses, and on how things don’t work out for you…then you make your mind darker. You make the purity of it unpalatable. The Universe doesn’t judge where your focus is, it returns what you give it. And the more you practice this way of operating upon purity, then the better you’ll get at creating what you truly want, and you’ll be getting those things faster. And people will see your efforts as luck or call you a magician…but you’ll know it’s not magic per say…it’s focus. Now I know this was a bunch of information, and maybe your head might be spinning at the moment. But I wanted to talk about physical proof of the power of our thoughts and the universe, not because I need to prove it to myself, but rather I wanted to give you some basis on actual science and experiments that open up your mind to possibilities. For me, I don’t care so much about facts as I’ve seen the law of attraction happen in my life too many times to count. I like to think about it like the topic of love, you don’t need an explanation how it works, you know it works…and thus you spend your energy on what’s important…loving…instead caught in endless in figuring out that mystery. A lot of the science I referenced, I made sure to talk with my good buddy Charles about. He graduated with an aeronautical engineering degree, so he understands this stuff better than I do…but he told me how he uses the law of attraction in his life. He said, “I am in a dual feedback loop…the universe has something happen to me… and I will transmute it by making it positive and send that out to the universe which it will then react back to what I put out to it. I’m constantly taking back what the universe is giving me, and then focusing on keeping it on a positive higher frequency. I’m changing the Universe’s return frequency, as I stay consistent. I’m constantly updating. I’m taking the negative lower energies and continually updating it to higher positive frequencies to change what’s returned to me; you can’t B.S. the universe…it knows. You have to will it; you have to become what you put out there.” And like what Charles said…the reason you change what the universe is sending you is not because you outplayed the Universe in its game, but the Universe saw your consistency in your focus and said, “I will give you back what you emit, I will give you back who you are.” So in the end, the law of attraction brings you what you want, not because you out-willed something, but because you became what you wanted in every fiber of your being. When you understand that you are already wealthy, in every area of your life, you’ll find that your life changed not because you did something physically different, but you became different. Your vibrational energy aligned with abundance instead of lack…which in turn, gives you the capacity to live beyond your dreams. Today’s Personal Commitment:This was a pretty long podcast, so I want to make this easier and only do a visualization to help you begin thinking and acting differently. Think of the Universe, or whatever you want to call it…God, Abba, Science, Energy… and visualize it as a person who you can talk with. This person knows you inside out, someone you can’t fool. And this person can grant you anything you focus on…this person will harmonize and return exactly what you put out there. Think of this person as sitting across the table from you, or next to the park bench you’re on, or going for a walk as you tell them what you want. So the next time you want something or you want to become something different, instead of forcing things the old way of pushing back or trying to make things happen only physically…what if you were to change your energy to better harmonize with the Universe. What if you were constantly updating, not getting upset at what’s given to you because you know it’s not a punishment…it’s just the return of the energy you’ve been putting out into the world. It’s my hope that if you see your exchange with the Universe on this deeper level, you will change how you interact with the Universe. You won’t throw your hands up in the air and say it’s just my luck… you will instead begin working on updating your energy to higher vibrational frequencies. You will work on purifying your mind to align better with the Universe. You will be like sympathetic resonance, you’ll be like that tuning fork, knowing whatever frequency you give out will be returned to you exactly as you’ve put it out there. So how pure is your mind, how high is your frequency…and do you focus more on abundance and the possibilities of what you want rather than the focusing on your lack—the things that you think are bad in your life or missing from your life? But I do have to warn you, by choosing the path of purity and a higher vibrational frequency of your thoughts and your actions…you won’t be able to live in blame anymore. You won’t be able to say it’s not your fault, you won’t be able to live in the dark, ignorant, and unaware…you will know that everything you are a part of is your responsibility. And if you don’t like where you are, then you have to be diligent in constantly updating your mind and your ways.  Your thoughts are more than just random nothingness…they are energy, and energy is not only power…but it’s “matter” too. Your thoughts are things; you are a creator, and I hope you focus on creating well. I hope you remember that you’re already wealthy, because when you do remember this…everything changes. 419 I Keep My Eyes Straight Ahead February 2018 Friday Week 4

Fantastic Fridays-#419 February 23rd The Strong Within Daily Affirmation Podcast I Keep My Eyes Straight Ahead “The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win.” ~Roger Bannister In the mid 1900s, there was a story that began circulating in the running community. The world record for running a mile at the time was 4:01.4 seconds—a record that stood for nine years. And so a mammoth story was born that it was impossible for any human to run a mile under 4 minutes. One reason records weren’t being broken was from World War II interrupting people training or focusing on sports. A man named Roger Bannister began his running career in 1946 at age 17, and even on a light running schedule compared to other runners, in 1948 he was considered for joining the Olympic team, which he turned down because he felt he was not qualified to compete at that level yet. And after watching the 1948 Olympics, that set his resolve to make it to Helsinki, Finland in 1952. In the 1952 Olympics, the race he competed in was the 1500m (the equivalent of .932 miles). Roger was disappointed as he finished fourth…thus not being able to place and win an Olympic medal, but he did set a British Record in the process of that race. After his setback in 1952 Bannister began to question whether he should continue his running career or give up, and he decided he was going to be the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. So he began training harder, as his previous training regimen was quite light to other distance runners in his field. On May 6th 1954, Roger reached his goal as running a mile in 3:59.4 seconds. And only 46 days later a rival of his, John Landy, surpassed the record. On August 7, 1954 a historic race was set to take place as Bannister and Landy were set to race each other in what was deemed the “Miracle Mile” race. The reason the race garnered that name was because the only two people to run a mile in under four minutes ever we set to race against each other. Landy was in the lead for most of the race until the last bend when Roger passed Landy and never gave up his lead. And later on both runners admitted the reason Roger took the lead was because when Landy was looking over his left shoulder to see where his followers were Roger blew right past him on his right side and never looked back. The story of Roger Bannister comes up in a lot of self-development books or speeches about how a belief can determine what we do with our lives. A paradigm shift happens, and what was once deemed impossible is now within reach with alarming breakthroughs from many other people. After Roger beat that impossible record, the next year four other men had run a sub four minute mile and the year after that 4 more to make it a total of 8 doing what was deemed impossible. And I want to bring up the Miracle Mile race one last time to display a point the reason Bannister won was due to not worrying about who was behind him. Which makes me wonder how many times we have sabotaged ourselves worrying about other people’s progress by taking our focus away from our own efforts. So question, where is your nose? Is it in someone else’s business, or is it only in your business? You will not go far by measuring yourself to what others are doing. Yes, we can always benchmark; but a good portion of the time when we look back, it’s to see how hard we should be going. Instead of living your life dictated by how hard other people are going, work to go your own pace, work to go a little further for yourself each time. Don’t judge your merit or your effort by what another person is doing. We go to our jobs, our schools, or even our family life comparing what others are doing and then falling into place with that standard. We cripple our progress by looking for a norm, looking for what’s acceptable, when we should go all out creating our own standards. And if we settle for average, we will be left wondering why we always feel so unfulfilled. There was a story told to me about teachers who were told that the new class coming in were students who needed to be challenged because they were smart. And if you didn’t ask more of them, or expect more of them, they would get bored and slough off in school. What the teachers didn’t know is that all of these students were below average students. And so the teachers made sure to challenge and believe in these students more than anyone had believed in them before…and you know what? All of these kids got better grades, in fact they as a whole became part of the top percentile of students in there districts. These kids were no longer failing out and doing poorly in school. In fact, they enjoyed that someone cared enough about them to ask more of them. So are you asking enough of yourself, or are you falling in line with what’s expected? One pathway will lead you to being comfortable and being hidden by the pack of everyone else…and the other way will help bring a fulfillment you’ve never known. What if you decided to focus less on what others were doing, and you decided to focus on what you were capable of? How different would your life be? Today’s Personal Commitment:So, the question is begging to be asked…what are you capable of? And if you aren’t reaching your capabillities, why? As with Roger Bannister, breaking the old myth of what was humanly possible, was because he set his mind to making it happen, and then kept his eyes forward in his pursuits. What are the myths you’ve been holding onto for the things you desire in your life? And what are you willing to do to make your goals and dreams a reality? I believe two crucial questions need to be asked to become the people we want to be: How organized are we in working towards our goals And what’s our pain threshold? Greatness comes by being deliberate in working towards something, and it also is reached by stepping out of our comfort zones. It doesn’t have to be huge leaps at one time either. Vincent Van Gogh said, “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” I sent out a newsletter to my Strong Within subscribers... As I have decided to call this community the Strong Within One Percenters…so are you willing to be one percent better than you were yesterday? 406 I Am Purposeful In How I Want To Feel | February 2018 Saturday Week 2

Synergistic Saturdays-#406  February 10th The Strong Within Daily Affirmation Podcast I Am Purposeful In How I Want To Feel "The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." ~Pablo Picasso Let’s face it…we all are living the busiest lives we know. It doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing. We still think we have the busiest lives in the world, and if only people understood this maybe we could get some of that sympathy we deserve. I’ll admit to how frustrated I was this week. It started bubbling up Tuesday night, and it was getting progressively worse as I got further in the week. And what I teach my life coaching students, I was being put to the test as well if I could live and not just speak this truth…that we don’t get what we want, we get what we focus on. I was being reminded that the world around me wasn’t creating how I felt, but that I was focusing on the things in my life that were going wrong…which was bringing my focus to it and then creating more of it. Doing a daily podcast is a great thing to do, and I love doing it, but I’ve fallen behind in my flow, as usually I like to be at least a week ahead. But lately I’ve been right on time getting the podcast out right before my midnight deadline for the next day. And every night I spend time thinking, recording, editing, and then getting it populated into podcast land. I’m not complaining about it, but I could just feel the frustration building up within me from being caught up every night stuck in creating this podcast. Which was spreading my frustrations out into every part of my life and affecting me negatively. And today, I felt myself getting angry at someone driving too fast in the parking being a jerk so I couldn’t cross first. I found myself frustrated as I was a little behind on things as I usually like to get to appointments early, but I was right on time to each appointment, and I felt stress from having to rush to them. And I found myself being more quiet around people, as I was feeling annoyed with everything. I felt a heaviness within me and I knew I had to change something, or I would continue on this path that I didn’t want to be a part of anymore. And so I decided to remind myself of the advice I give to all my life coaching students as I said in my mind…”you don’t get what you want, you get what you focus on.” And I then asked myself how I wanted to feel? I replied, “I want to feel calm.” And so I set out to think more calm things, which then helped me to speak calm things, which helped me to act calmer. Our atmosphere is not determined by what’s surrounding us; Our atmosphere is dictated by the emotions we put out into the world. So if you aren’t getting the outcome you want, you might want to look at the emotions you’re focusing on. Zig Ziglar said, Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude. Meaning your skill set, or outside influences, will not determine your place—your attitude will. Your decision to choose how you want to feel will make you or break you. And so I’ve decided to not let frustration be my master, but instead to have calm be my response to everything today. I’m sure I’ll have to remind myself of that tomorrow and the day after. Because you see, it’s not that once you decide to be a certain way you won’t ever go back to that negative place; it’s that once you decide to choose the emotions you want, instead of being controlled by them, it will then get easier to continually transition into more positive purposeful emotions. So let’s not beat a dead horse here, let’s become aware of the emotions that drain us as we pivot from them, and then purposefully focus on putting more emotions that energize us into the world. Because the life you live is determined by the attitude you decide to live within. Today’s Personal Commitment:Attitude check!!!! How are you feeling right now, are you feeling energized and full of life, or are you feeling drained, frustrated, angry, or any other negative emotion? And once you figure out what emotion your feeling, ask why you’re feeling that way. Get to the root of the emotion. Instead of saying I’m upset because my partner is being a jerk…maybe you might see that you’re upset because you’re allowing your partner’s mood to affect you. We look to attribute our good or bad feelings on those outside factors, and it’s not that they don’t affect us one way or another…but it’s that they aren’t the final determinant of how we feel. We decide how we want to experience a situation. And like my frustration filled week, I could have decided to stay stuck there. I could have focused more on how I have so much work, and how I’m so behind—which would slow down my progress and work effort even more…keeping me locked in that emotion. Or I could execute what I decided to do—which is find the emotion I wanted to live within, find ways to breathe through the stress, and then begin focusing more upon the calm I had in my life already and the calm I was going to create. You are the pilot of your life. Are you going to crash and burn letting things control you, or are you going to focus on how you want to feel and take back control of the flight stick in your life? The choice is always yours—not someone or something else. Those external things are just easy excuses to blame so we don’t have to do the work. But I hope you do the most important work you’ll ever do, which is choosing how you want to feel and following through consistently on it every day. 415 My Focus Dictates My Future February 2018 Monday Week 4

Mindful Mondays-#415 February 19th The Strong Within Daily Affirmation Podcast My Focus Dictates My Future “Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.” ~Pope John XXIII Who we become is not determined by who we are, because that is a faulty question in itself…and the reason I say that is because you were created to do impossible things. The mere fact that you are still breathing, that you still are moving, that you are still thinking—means that your possibilities are limitless. We are beings with free will, with choice, and we have the ability to get better at anything we decide to put our time and attention to. I think it was Einstein who said something like ‘anyone can get great at anything, just for some it takes a little longer.’ And if something is important to you in obtaining, you will be willing to put in a longer amount of time if need be. I am a proponent for speaking and thinking towards the ideas of who you want to be one hundred percent of the time. For when we keep our attention on where we don’t want to be it’s easy to get trapped in thinking that’s where we belong. Life is a game of cat and mouse or hide and seek. And it’s not that you are running from your fears but it’s that we have to choose not to live in them. And people might say I’m anal when I talk about how we speak…but the more we speak something then the more our subconscious hears it and learns it, and the more you think about it the more you download it into your system. I know it seems illogical because we decide where we want to be, and most of those negative thoughts are just brief thoughts… right??? Maybe; but how many brief thoughts happen over and over again and build upon each other where it just becomes natural to think and see things in that negative way. And if you still don’t agree with me think about a business’ review or comment page. People are more likely to complain about bad service than to praise good service. We think that good service is a natural by product of the business and it’s what’s expected. But it took deliberate effort on the business’ part to make your experience happen a certain way. Yes there are unmotivated employees and bad companies, but an effective business works to make sure that you as a customer is thought about in every step of the process. And this may be getting off point a little bit here, but I want to talk about kindness to the people within certain places. Whenever I’m dealing with a call center and someone is kind, patient, and helpful to me I always ask if I can speak to their manager…and I’m sure the service person starts sweating thinking oh no another customer who you can’t make happy. And when I speak to their manager I let them know it’s not a bad call, but it’s to commend their employee on how great they were with me. I’ve been in the service industry for most of my life and I know how people can forget the effort you put into making their experience a good one. And for me even if the work was subpar, I want that person to know that I noticed them and I wanted them to have a better day…even if it’s just thanking them for their time and wishing them a great day ahead. But the point I’m trying to make is that it’s my hope that my kindness will change that person. It’s my hope that that person will think more highly of themselves and that people are watching and noticing them. It’s my hope that they take that knowledge and don’t stop at giving the bare minimum the job requires, but to go above and beyond because it’s now a part of them. Now I know I can’t change anyone, but I think I can be the spark, or the catalyst, to cause a chain reaction towards a better change. Your life is the sum of your thoughts, the sum of your actions, the sum of what you speak…which is ultimately the sum of what you believe. Your beliefs will dictate who you think you were, who you think you are, what you think you can do, and who you think you can become. And a belief isn’t a finite substance…it’s the small things we do in every moment that will lead us to a certain outcome. So when we keep looking towards impossibility, and when we keep finding ways to see the negativity and prove it in our lives…we will find that we begin to make that our home. So today let’s, you and I, make a commitment to seek a higher truth. Let us look to find the possibility in so-called impossibility, let’s look to find the beauty in the so-called ugliness, let’s look to find power from our so-called weakness, and let’s make sure to put our one hundred percent focus on not only seeing what we want to see in life, but then following through to create it. The world around you, is not dictated to you…it’s determined by you. Because when you think about it…the mere presence of you is a fact that a miracle is happening, and when you think that way…then every problem is one more opportunity to live better. Today’s Personal Commitment:I get it, it’s hard to focus one hundred percent of the time on what you want. It’s easy to look at what’s going wrong, it’s easier to see the people who have wronged you as you live in resentment because of it, and it’s easier to notice why things don’t work out for your life like you’d hoped they would. But when doubt the power we have in our lives by focusing on untruths in our words, actions, and thoughts…then we get trapped in misery. We get stuck within a dungeon that is not ours. So I have a few questions for you: How did you start your morning? Do you go through the routine of what you normally do, maybe even wishing you could go back to bed; or were you excited that you could make this day whatever you wished it to be? Did you speak with kindness towards yourself? Did you speak with kindness towards the day? Did you speak with kindness towards others? And did you speak with hope and possibilities for the day ahead? I get it, you might be saying that I’m a dreamer focusing on the impossible…but that’s because you are looking microscopically. What if you started with one little thought on what was possible, and you continued that thought a hundred more times, and then a thousand, and then a million. Sure some will say that you’ll be let down by getting your hopes up, but I say you will begin changing because you decided to put your attention to the possibility of things rather than the impossibility of things. That’s the only way I’ve seen people make change; by focusing on where they would like to go instead of staying focused on where they don’t want to be. And hear me clearly, I said FOCUS. We need to look at problems to see what we don’t like, so then we can pivot to looking at where we want to be. So looking at the problems can be good, but it’s a fine line between looking, and looking too long and focusing on them. So what is one way you can focus differently today? How can you say this affirmation more times today, how can you see more possibility in the places you feel stuck in, and how can you continue to do whatever positive thing you chose today…even when you don’t feel like it? Which gets me thinking about the movie Rocky IV where Sylvester Stallone is tucking his kid into bed at night and his son asks if he’s ever scared…and he tells his son: “Well the truth is, sometimes I do get a little scared. When I’m in that ring and I’m really getting hit on, and my arms hurt so much I can’t even lift them, and I’m thinking god I wish this guy would hit me on the chin so I wouldn’t feel nothing anymore. Then there’s another side that comes out that isn’t as scared. It’s another side that wants to take more; wants to go that one more-round. Because going that one more-round when you don’t think you can is what makes all the difference in your life.” So I’m challenging you let that other side come out, not the side that wants life to punch you in the chin so you don’t feel pain anymore, as you go that one more-round…and to continually choose to go that extra round every time because it will make all the difference in your life.
