I also have a young family and don’t really want to go out and hustle.

Is it possible for me to do this? For me to start in a more advanced stage? Or do I have to hustle and put in the time myself first?

Not really trying to find the easy way out, but I really don’t want to go back to working 9o hours a week.
Yes, you can, because to start a business, to create momentum, you have to use either time or money to spin up the initial momentum. If you just think about something you want to do, you have to take action or hire people to take action.

There is a disconnect in the level of effort between high achievers and people that don’t achieve high.

If you’re getting mad, you may be working outrageously hard, but working on the wrong things in the wrong order.

In yesterdays podcast I talked a little about the first 3 stages of business. Today, I’m going to elaborate more on the next 2 stages.

Stage 4 of business is where you really want to get to. It’s the general manager stage. Where you can take off for 2-4 weeks at a time and come back to more money than you had before you left. This is an AMAZING thing to accomplish.
To me, it’s not about having the cars and the flashy things. I can bet most of you and other small business owners feel the same.

For me, it’s about faith, having a relationship with your creator, being a spectacular husband & an outrageously good father.

You have to be on the same page as your spouse and family. Talk about what needs to happen to get where you want, to live like you want.

Family has to be first, but it’s okay to sacrifice things for a little while. Give yourself permission to go beast mode.

If you don’t sell your stuff to the market, they are not going to stop buying. They’ll just end up buying from someone who doesn’t care as much as you do.

So, let’s talk a little today about being busy vs. being productive…
there is a HUGE difference.

Figure out what levers you can pull. what low hanging fruit can you attack? What simple things can you do tomorrow to produce a big result with a low amount of effort?

  1. I wish that I knew that building a successful company takes time…I thought it was quick. It got really hard the first year, working dark to dark then coming home and reading forums to try and learn. I only did $24k the first year. I didn’t know what I was doing.
  2. Not all advice is created equal. We don’t have advice overload, we have opinion overload.

I got pissed off at school. I went to Lake Fenton, an all white, upper-class school. Well, eventually we had our first black girl come.

I had a crush on her, she was cute and nice, but…

Students didn’t like her. They would leave pictures on her locker of black people being lynched…

I was shocked. I was a very naive child and this was all super foreign to me, I had no clue these things happened, that racism was even a thing.

Long story short, she ended up leaving because it was an unsafe environment for her.

I would fight with my dad about these issues.

Finally, I worked in repo around 20 years old. A lot of the cars we repoed were in Flint, MI.

There were 100s of people outside. We were the only white people for miles. I was a spoiled, aggressive, white kid from the suburbs. It was an adrenaline rush and it mostly was during the night, in the inner city, poverty-ridden places.

Then, I had a company and hired a black guy. I slowly realized that people hated him. He received racial comments and issues when I would send him out. I went as far as FIRING customers. The way people treated him made me want to throw up.

Sometimes I don’t spend enough time talking to the really, really small businesses.

Today, I’m going to do some basic teaching, that has value no matter where you are in business.

I had someone ask if I had pre-built systems for use. I do have some pre-built systems in my Automate Grow Sell Bootcamp, but it’s tricky to do this.

Your systems have to represent your brand and personality that you are building.

It is more powerful for me to teach you the concepts on how to properly build your own systems.

Everyone listening to this already has a fully systemized business. The problem is, they are just inside your head. They are present and they do exist. You just need to get them down on paper.

The real question you need to ask is, is if the current operating system of my brain for my company, is the way I’m doing business working for me? Is it delivering what I want? Does it move you toward what you ultimately want; your mountaintop?

Get these out of your brain and onto paper. The goal isn’t to build a novel.

Even if you have no employees, get them written down. It’s all about how you do something.

 I’ve been on a mission to get more organized, which is why you haven’t heard from me in a few days! 

Today, I’m going to tell you a story about my first year in business.

I had gotten a job to clean the windows from a little old lady in a condo. I was by myself for this job in my little Chevy Cavalier. The job was way underbid, but I was excited!

Well, it all started with removing screens. One of these screens just wouldn’t come out! I was trying to be as careful as I could and I didn’t want to break it.

The little old lady was getting super impatient and getting super mad…Asking me what the problem was and why I was taking so long…

Suddenly, she tells me to get out of the way and she punched her screen out of the window and into a bush then told me to get out…

It was such a discouraging day.

But, I didn’t give up. What if I would have given up? What if I used that as my excuse to give up? Can you imagine what would have happened? If I would have stopped, I wouldn’t have been where I am today.
