Rank #5: Ep 29- The best kind of sleep and the land of the Mummies! (feat. Mr. Mina from Egypt)

Nidra means sleep in Sanskrit and Yoga Nidra refers to a state in which we are neither fully asleep nor fully awake. It is deeply relaxing and is also believed to help manage mental health better. Yoga Nidra is being used by many companies and schools around the world to manage stress better. Some people also find meditation slightly difficult as they have to mostly do it themselves and in a seated position. But yoga nidra is mostly done in a lying down position, so a lot of people find it more comfortable and easy to do.
This week we are talking about the country that is home to the pyramids, the sphinx and River Nile. Any guesses?

If you use a laptop for studies or work, how many tabs or windows do you have open at any point in time? Or if you use a mobile phone, how many times do you keep checking it during a meeting or discussion or when you are working on something? We all have a lot of distractions and our ability to concentrate on one thing at a time is going down.

Rank #8: Ep 26- Are you breathing right?

Has someone ever asked you to take deep breaths to calm yourself down? And have you noticed how you breathe when you are excited or scared? Regular practice of pranayama helps in keeping our breath normal at all times. In school, right from our nursery classes, we had a class on mindfulness. Whenever all the children were very excited or noisy, our teacher would ask us to sit on the floor, close our eyes and start taking deep breaths. After 5 minutes or so, most of the children would calm down.

Indians across the world will be celebrating a very special festival this week- Deepawali or Diwali- the festival of lights. I love everything about this festival- the rangoli that we put outside our homes, decorating the house with marigold flowers and lights, eating lots and lots of traditional sweets- yum! Diwali also marks the beginning of winter in the country. To everyone celebrating, Happy Diwali!
