Rank #1: Creative Riding Episode 061 "The World Is Flat"

Welcome to episode 61.

Is that world Flat? It is if you're into flat track racing!
Last weekend we attended the IV League's season opener in Del Mar, CA. There were thrills, there were spills, and there were grilles!
Racers camped out overnight for the two day event which kicked off the racing action for the team at IV League.
There was no shortage of bikes, vendors, and bar-banging action.

I also discuss common knowledge about the AMA American Flat Track series and the factory racing team that Harley-Davidson has assembled to take on the Indian Motorcycle Company's Wrecking Crew.

With Harley-Davidson in the lime light, there is news about H-D execs meeting with President Trump, as well as news that H-D is planning on driving sales over the next 5 years with 50 new bikes. I say 50 "new" bikes.

Then, I blab and ramble with company. Is that a surprise?
In an effort to touch on an article that is in the works, I got a chance to talk with a real human (not just myself!) about what attracts people to bikes, how that used to be part of the MC industry and attracting new riders, and how that can affect what bike you chose to make yours- whether you're building it or buying it.

Hello!!
There is a lot to get ready for this weekend.
I'm heading out to the Corsa Motoclassica this weekend, and I've got to make sure the moths are out of my sleeping bag and the air mattress holds air!
Some topics of today's "show":

That dog video. You know the one. Let's break down what happened and why you shouldn't care.

The Harley-Davidson Roadster. They've had bike called Roadsters before, but this one is a ready to turn in to a Super Hooligan or Scrambler straight off the showroom floor.

MotoGP. Is that still going? Lorenzo is going to Ducati, now that Ducati is 100% different, and Marquez wins now that his motorcycle is going backwards.

Toyota Connected. Toyota and Microsoft are gearing up to sell your driving habits. Find out how.

Come to Pasadena tonight or go to Perris or Willow Springs this weekend. You may see me at one of those places.

Hey there, and welcome to another episode of your favorite podcast called Creative Riding.

On this show we interview a singer/songwriter, adventurer, artist, teacher, dancer, screenwriter/author, biker, and a campsite owner. Should I take the time to mention that it's all the same person!? Grab a snack and a notepad. We talk about all sorts of stuff, and you're going to want to keep track!

As an aside, I purchased the guest's book "Homeschooler V Middleschool" for a whopping $0.99 on Amazon Kindle, and I was able to read it in one afternoon. It's about the length of a movie, for if you read it like one, it should take you about an hour and a half to get through it. I am not a huge connoisseur of books, and I like them simple. This one was a great read. It had a good ending too, for those of you who refuse to read tragedies. I'm looking forward to reading more and hopefully seeing some of the other works from this guest develop.

Act II: Current events. They are not ALL of the current events, but what we have written down. There's also a new Insta feedback and an "Ask Wiggs" email.

Three on the tree: Wiggins fill us in on the happenings over the week-long Harley-Davidson 115th Anniversary celebrations. There was a lot of hooliganing and a lot of racing.
We wrap up the show talking the good talk and making peace over some squeaky curds.

I hope you can make it out this weekend to enjoy an event, or even take a little ride around your town. Have a good one. Wiggins and I will be back next week with some more engaging conversations.
peace out!

Welcome to episode 162.

Wiggins is on his way to Portland, Oregon for the One Moto race and show. Mar Banana is keeping his mic warm this week.

We talk weather since it seems to be on everyone's mind this week.
The Polar Vortex may have faded, but the cold is real and more weather for SoCal is still on the way.

Mar (real name Jae) is a super commuter and warrior of the L.A. freeways. I thought she would be a good source to talk about gear since she's in it everyday. You can learn all the fun ways lamp shades and leather can be used to modify your SV650 for commuting.

We also play the name game - a vestige from episode 48. That's actually how Mar gets her name this week! You too can learn how legendary field producer Bri Viffer and WIR Top 10 Bikes founder Elw Zuma got their names. Play along and send us YOUR hipster name.

Welcome to episode 138, the Nagano one.

Happy Friday everyone. I hope you're ready for some racing and news and straight up blabbing.

I start off this week's show with last weekend's ride.
I traveled down to San Diego, a border town with a clandestine moto-culture. The splintered and disparate community there is what the first segment is about.
I traveled down to help Dave & Jen, owners of Cerberus Moto, with moving some of their former livelihood out of their DIY garage.
It is with great sadness that I report to you this: Cerberus Moto is gone.
What caused the collapse of the DIY scene in San Diego and will Cerberus Moto ever rise again? Stay tuned and find out.

There is also some industry and racing news.
The last Hayden retires, Russia has a giant state-sanctioned motorcycle, Suzuki Vintage runs Classic TT on Isle of Man, 2 U.S. Motocross de Nations teams announced (kinda), and more.

The final segment is baffling: New part or new bike? Which would you prefer? Listen and you'll see what I mean.

Welcome to Episode 173

On this week's episode we do a little chatting with the Beast from the Near-East, The Puffed-up Chest from the Midwest, The Fair Dame with the Wild Mane that's Hard to Tame, The female Charles Bronson from Wisconsin - Michelle Mankiewicz. We dive into her preparation for the upcoming WIR's Top 10 Bikes drag racing series at Wisconsin International Raceway. She's also been hitting the dirt, and hints at some other avenues that she might explore this year.
On top of being voted Wisconsin's Strongest Woman, Michelle is also no slouch in the kitchen, taking several regional titles with her prize-winning pies and chilis. She's also an educator and a horse whisperer. The last one might be false.

Law Tigers, America's Motorcycle Attorneys, have given Creative Riding 4 tickets to this year's AFT Sacramento Mile on May 18th. They are the title sponsor for this event, as well the AFT Arizona TT. If you'd like a chance to win the tickets, listen for half of the "winning phrase" and then listen to Motorcycles & Misfits on Monday for the second half. E-mail the phrase to creativeridingpodcast@gmail.com to be entered into a drawing for a pair of tickets! Good luck!

It's fair to say that many celebrities have gotten into motorcycles (or probably were into motorcycles) and have been spotted in movies or tabloids ripping around various cities across the globe. Since it's spring time and the summer blockbusters are just around the corner, I asked Jae and Wiggins what celebrity they would most like to ride with.
In light of this week's events, we are also wishing local celebrities Jamie Robinson and Barry Weiss a full and speedy recovery after their accident in Los Feliz.

With the Spring Riding Season having finally arrived for all but those on the Weddell Ice Shelf, it's time to start planning those moto trips and rides. Junkster asks Jae and Chris where they would most like to take their celebrity riding.

Are you even worth it? Not you, listener. Your motorcycle. Jae did a study based on average repair and maintenance costs of her truck vs 2 motorcycles. Are motorbikes actually worth the hassle per mile vs a cage? Find out.

The Texas 1/2 mile wrapped up over the weekend, and we have a little race report.

Welcome to episode 175

This episode features a Junkpile. That is a show before the show of the things we missed out on during the regular Creative Riding show nights.
On this Junkpile, Junk talks about some things and Wiggins takes us on a journey through thorough race prep. We talked about moto-camping preparedness on previous episodes, but what does a real life fiasco look like when you're heading across the country to race?
The Law Tigers Sacramento Mile winners will be announced. Congrats to the winners and all who participated. Thank you so much to Darwyn from Law Tigers, and Liza from the Motorcycles and Misfits podcast who helped bring this awesome giveaway to the masses.

This week we chat about the Californian. Last weekend's event was stunning and the weather was perfect. "No-Nitrous Chris" Singsime's car took first in the derby at the derby, and there were a ton of unique and awe-inspiring motorcycles at the SoCal staple.

Jae pulls up the brakes to talk about Motorcycle Awareness Month. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month, and if you're not sure, it is now May, and so it is Motorcycle Awareness Month. Shall we talk about the awareness?

Hey peeps, happy Friday!
I hope you get out and ride this weekend, even if it's on your snowblower.

On this week's show, Junky is absolutely thrilled that the Loud Pipes! 4th annual Motorcycle Podcasters Challenge is in the air. We want to finish higher than third and this year might be our chance. I think Jae got stoked on the idea of the competition as well.

Last week the whole Creative Riding crew got to hang out at the world famous Petersen Automotive Museum for the Electric Revolution exhibition opening. Listen to what we have to say. You don't have a choice unless you rip your earbuds out and throw your phone in a fire!

Jae adventured over to Lucky Wheels garage for an evening with Lyndon Poskitt. The world traveler and former Dakar Rally racer stopped in town to talk about his 'Races to Places' YouTube series and other stuff.

Sunday, Wiggins took 'Marcy the RC' (Honda RC51) to Willow Springs for the final Ramming Speed Racing Classic Track Day before the Corsa Motoclassica heads in to town, ushering the AHRMA road racing season with it.

On this week's show Junky reads a newspaper. If that isn't oldschool I don't know what is. Who reads the fuckin paper anymore? Lots of California-related talk, so if it's DL,DL that's ok. Also, Junky is not a tree-hugging liberal hipster democrat. But he does love the outdoors and riding through natural beauty. So pardon the news of all the emissions regulations and electric talk that ensues.... it's just what sort of companies we have in Cali.

Then we get in to the year 1989. It was a crazy year, so we'll LITERALLY fast forward a bit through the 365 days that ended one decade and ushered another one in.

Whammin Wiggins brought Trusty Rusty out to the annual SoCal Norton Owners Club ride up 'The Crest'. This club's yearly ride takes place on New Year's Eve, rain or shine. It's usually shine in SoCal, but it's also usually a bit nippy. Some fun was had up and down the hill.

Junky got some crummy conversation cards (probably re-gifted)but he and Wiggins use them to forecast our year.

There are also a couple of e-mails and a voicemail.

...and watch out for little kids who try to take over your show!

We'll see you next week, and there will be more news, more conversation and more shenanigans.
