Rank #2: We Are Forgiven

Podcast cover
Read more
In this season, the ten days of Awe, we focus on repentance. We heard the sound of the shofar on Rosh Hashanah, calling us to repent, and we receive forgiveness of our sins on Your Kippur. The Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is called Shabbat Shuvah because the word Shuvah means to turn around or “To Return”. Simply, stop walking in the direction you are going and turn around and walk the other way. Return to God, the one who created you. At Restoration, we want to help people move from where they are to where God wants them to be. First in salvation, understanding the need you have for Yeshua to save you from your sin. Second, to know that you are forgiven, and live forgiven, so you can extend the same forgiveness to others. That’s why one of our core vales is “We Are Forgiven" because “We know that every setback is chance to comeback.” God is calling all people to return to Him, including you!

"We Are Forgiven" is part 3 of the series "We Are."

Rank #3: Why Messianic Judaism Matters For Everyone

Podcast cover
Read more
Messianic Judaism is different. The modern Messianic Movement has been wrestling with our identity for over 100 years. Can there really be Jewish followers of Jesus who maintain Jewish identity? Does Jewish identity even matter in Messiah? Is there supposed to be a distinction between Jew and Gentile in Messiah?

At Restoration one of our core values is the reflect the Jewishness of Yeshua and we believe that everyone, especially followers of Jesus, need to understand why Messianic Judaism matters for everyone.

God fulfilled His promise to Abraham when He gave him his son, Isaac, in his old age. Then God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son on an altar. Abraham believed in resurrection and he believed that even if his son had to die God could bring him back. Abraham already knew that God kept His promises now it was to time to sacrifice everything. As we conclude Rosh Hashanah we know that God sacrificed everything for us so that we could return the sacrifice to Him. "The Sacrifice" is the second part of a special series for Rosh Hashanah called "Promise & Sacrifice."

Rank #6: Identity: Circumcision & Uncircumcision

For those who love God, we live in the tension of two ideas regarding identity: "who you are is everything" and "who are are is nothing." If you are confused about who you are then you can't know what you're called to be! At Restoration, we have Jews (circumcised) who follow Yeshua and Gentiles (uncircumcised) both a part of the same family of God but differences in how we follow in daily practice. It's not that different from the struggle of the original followers of Yeshua in the first century and not as complicated as it seems.

Rank #7: We Are Messianic

1st sermon in the new series We Are: “We Are Messianic.” It’s the first of our core values and for us that means “we reflect the Jewishness of Yeshua.” We are not trying to fit Jesus into Judaism or Judaism into Jesus. We believe that Messianic Judaism is the Judaism of Jesus and this idea influences everything we do. We worship on Shabbat, read from the Torah, sing in Hebrew, keep the festivals of the Torah and follow hard after Yeshua, our Messiah, who did all of these same things. At Restoration we are all about Yeshua and being like Him in this present culture. It’s not for everyone, nor do we believe it should be, but it is for us. We make conscious decisions to reflect the Jewishness of Yeshua because We Are Messianic!

For the original followers of Yeshua it was hard to understand how to present the Gospel to Gentiles. In an amazing revelation in Acts 10, Peter learns an important lesson that would effect everything moving forward that "even to the Gentiles God has granted repentance leading to life!” It's a moving telling of the heart of God from the beginning that “all the prophets testify about Him—that everyone who puts his trust in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”
