Rank #3: EP201: How to Launch One of a Kind Collections and Sell Out in Less than a Month
When you’re running a jewelry business, sometimes you might forget why you started what you do… Running a business takes work. Persistence. Consistency. Strategy.
But at the end of the day – most of us are actually artists! We get into this work to CREATE.
And while it's important to get those systems down that help you thrive… there’s also nothing wrong with a craving for VARIETY!
I’m so excited to be interviewing Alex Camacho of Acid Queen Jewelry because she’s got this balance down…
Alex has truly mastered the launch & release strategy. So much so that she’s releasing a one of a kind collection MONTHLY… And selling them out!
This is so cool because it means she gets to constantly be creating.
Each month she’s making one of a kind pieces. And she’s created a strong following around it!
Sure, she has her ready-to-wear line that’s always for sale. She’s got something consistent and easy when she’s in a pinch. But she’s also managed to systematize variety and creativity.
So if you worry that success in your brand means you have to sell the same boring line, you’re wrong.
In today’s episode, Alex is going to share with us how to create and sell out one time collections.
Alex has truly trained her customers to buy from her in the way she wants them to… Granted, Alex says she works really fast. Not every designer is going to need (or want) to put out a collection monthly.
But even if this is 2 or 4 times a year, her model is really working for getting these collections to sell FAST.
Listen to the episode to get the full scoop on how Alex runs her unique business model.

Rank #4: EP185: How to Use Storytelling to Sell More Jewelry
Think about all of the important lessons you’ve been taught in your life.
Whether it was from a parent, or a college class, or an elderly person you met in line at the grocery store. Why are those the lessons that stick with you all of your life?
Don’t think too hard on it, because I’m going to give you the answer.
I can pretty much guarantee you that the reason they’ve stuck with you for a lifetime is because they were delivered using the art of storytelling.
Because 65% to 75% of information shared through stories is retained by the people listening to the storytelling as opposed to only 5% of information that is retained through a scripted presentation or the delivery of facts.
And it works the same way in business that it does in life…but I like to call it STORYSELLING when I’m talking selling my jewelry.
Stories create connections. Sales can get a bad rap for being all about pushing and trying to manipulate a potential buyer.
But the truth is if you're a good storyteller you have the opportunity to invite them into your world and show them the story behind why you create what you do in the way that you do it.
It's much easier and nicer feeling and it's not hard. It really isn't.
My good friend and co-founder Robin Kramer is joining me today to teach you the art of storytelling in Episode #185 How to Use Storyselling to Sell More Jewelry.

Rank #7: EP213: Want to Make $100K Salary as a Jewelry Designer? Here's what it takes...
For most designers, making a $100,000 salary is what it will take for you to quit your job or achieve your goals.
I hear it all the time. “Tracy, I want to make $100,000 a year. What does it really take?” The truth is, it’s… complicated.
Someone who is bringing $1 million in revenue still might not be able to take home $100,000 if their business isn't run like a well-oiled machine. At the same time, a smart business owner bringing in $250,000 could still take home that $100K if they do it right.
People like you and I, we’re idea generators. Seeing our visions come to life is what really drives us. Finances, profitability, break-even points, margins… Those aren’t the things that come naturally to us.
But it can be learned!
You don’t have to sacrifice your creative passion to be a smart business owner. When you really hone your visionary and leadership skills, you will be blown away by what you can accomplish.
When I started my first company, Tracy Matthews Design Inc., I was NOT approaching my business like a visionary. That’s totally changed. Instead of CEO, I call myself the Chief Visionary Officer.
That has a better ring to it, don’t you think?
So how did I go from being a hopeful hobbyist with no business experience to the CVO of Flourish and Thrive Academy? It started with a simple goal to transform my jewelry business so I could take home $100,000 a year. Let’s talk about it…

Rank #10: EP195: Guerilla Marketing Strategies that Actually Work with Aggie Burnett
What are you waiting for?
I asked my good friend Aggie Burnett, co-founder of Nomaterra fragrances, what she was waiting for to get to the next step in her business.
Since her early 20’s, she’s nourished relationships with beauty brands through good ol’ fashioned networking: asking questions, following up, and taking notes.
In her 300 sq ft NYC apartment, she spent time mixing and matching oils until she created what felt most aligned.
Fast forward to having her products sold in every, single Sephora nationwide!
Talk about GOALS!!
Even after 5-6 years of experience in the beauty biz, Aggie knew she needed to drive things to the next level.
That’s where those guerrilla marketing tactics came in handy.
And they’ll come in handy for you too!

Rank #11: EP191: How to train your customers to buy from you online
Yes, you can sell your jewelry online!
Or have you been doubting yourself?
We all feel great doing what we know…but why is it so hard to pivot out of our routines?
The real big struggle is when you get too caught up working “in” your business that you can't decipher the right activities you should be doing to build your online business.
Sometimes people make it soooo complicated… I’ve been guilty of this too.
Take my friend, designer Chelsea Farmer, for example.
She is someone who has done an incredible job at creating an amazing user experience for her customers.
But she’s said to me once, “I'm afraid to send out an email because we're going to get so many orders I don't know what to do.”
Not all problems are bad problems.
It's really easy as business owners to fall back into what we know instead of welcoming the unknown.
What IF your email list blows up with sales? Or what IF you don’t get more than a couple of sales a week?
It’s time we rethink your approach to running a business and think about how you can maximize your time.
I’m here to help you get more customers buying from your website so that you can continue building every single year and train people to actually buy from you online.

Rank #12: EP226: The Desired Brand Effect – Here's How to Use It In Your Business
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - faceless brands are dying. As sales move to the online sphere, social media is shaping buying decisions more than ever. People buy from people.
At the end of the day, sales is about building relationships with your customers.
Gone are the days of target demographics. In an oversaturated online market, it’s all about dialing into the specifics of your Dream Client and standing out in a sea of faceless brands.
The connections you make - through messaging, branding, pricing, customer service, web copy - are what set you apart from the crowd.Connected Conversion
As a jewelry designer, you may feel afraid to sell.
It’s okay to admit it; I was too, in the beginning. It took years of flexing my confidence muscle to feel comfortable converting a prospect into a buyer.
Even if you’ve built an authentic connection with your Dream Clients, the sales won’t be rolling in if you’re sitting behind your bench all day.
It takes consistent outreach and excellent customer service to maintain a steady flow of sales. If you’re not getting enough sales, you’re probably not doing the right outreach.Removal to Scale
You probably want freedom and security in your business, right? The key is to build a business that is not dependent on you for profit.
This is where the big-picture stuff comes in. Systems and automation that free up time and allow you to step back, and long-term planning that can be broken down into bite-sized goals.
Above all, this also includes your community. Whether it be hiring the right people, seeking mentorship, or just connecting with fellow designers - the people around you can make or break your business.
I’ve only grazed the surface of these 3 pillars. If you’re ready to dive deeper into these concepts, listen to the full episode of Thrive by Design. Or, even better, pre-order The Desired Brand Effect!
Until next week, m’dear!
xo, TracySponsor Spotlight!

Rank #13: EP196: The 75% Rule
There’s lots of confusion. What really matters to grow your business?
Is it finances, sales, admin, social media, marketing, photography, pixeling your website, cleaning the dirt under your fingernails from that red rouge buffing compound…?
The list is endless. The answer is simple…it’s the 75% rule.
In fact, when I first presented the 75% rule – jaws were dropped.
When I was asked about the 75% rule at the Gold Conference, same thing… I got a lot of weird looks.
Most “creative-maker-designer” types love creating and making.
So they start a business and continue to create – make – design (oh yeah and do a lot of busy work) and wonder why their business isn’t growing?
If you want your business to grow, you have to spend your time on revenue generating activities. That’s where the 75% rule comes in.
Finding the levers in your business to sell jewelry online or land those massive wholesale accounts requires a commitment and focus on the “RIGHT” activities.
Your ability to double your jewelry business’ sales starts with today’s episode.
On today’s episode, I am going to share why you should be saving those $10 and $20 tasks for someone else to do and focusing at least 75% of your time on making your VISION and GOALS a reality.
I am also going to help you identify the things that are not moving your business forward.

Rank #14: EP 218: The Biggest Website Design and Conversion Mistakes Jewelry Designers Make and How to Fix Them
Have you ever noticed that grocery store layouts are all pretty much the same?
The bakery is near the front, where you’re met with the comforting aroma of fresh bread. The dairy is in the back, so you have to walk through the whole store just to buy milk. The candy is by the register, a tempting and effective upsell.
This is not by accident – in fact, there are professionals who get paid a lot of money to map your journey through the store in a way that gets you to buy more stuff.
The psychology of profit has been of interest to owners of grocery stores and supermarkets since, like, forever. So why wouldn’t we apply the same principles to online stores?
That’s where Erin Alexander comes in. Founder of Alexander Design Co. and our very own SOS coach, Erin specializes in website and conversion design for e-commerce businesses.
When it comes to web design, this gal’s been thinking 10 steps ahead the whole time. She sat down with me to discuss the common mistakes she sees on jewelry designer’s websites – and how to fix them

Rank #15: EP206: How to Transform Your Website Homepage to Make More Sales
Did you know that when someone lands on your website you only have 30 seconds to make an impression?
Kinda scary, right?!?
After all of the love and hard work you pour into creating a beautiful page, a lot of the people who visit will be in and out in moments.
So how can you get them to stick around?? And better yet… how can you get them to actually CONVERT into sales?
It all comes down to the impression and the feeling they get when they visit your site.
If your website isn’t doing your product justice in terms of design, story and beyond… you’re actively LOSING sales and potential customers.
There are a few key components every homepage needs to really stand out and grab the attention of a potential customer…
As a designer or business owner, sometimes you’re a little too close to the problem to see whether what you have is really working or not.
That’s why we brought in Darian Chavez of DNC coaching (who also happens to be one of our amazing SOS coaches), to talk about how to transform your homepage to bring you more sales. You won’t want to miss all of the juicy knowledge she shared with us…

Rank #17: EP220: Building Community and Die Hard Fans Around Your Brand with Chelsea Farmer
If you’re struggling with social media, read on…
You can have a strong social media presence and an online community of raving fans without having millions of followers.
What’s more valuable than numbers is how you engage with your following and how they engage with each other. Having 100 active followers is so much better than having 1,000 that never say anything.
And you don’t need a huge team of social media managers, copywriters, and marketing experts for your online accounts to succeed. With the right strategy, you can build a flourishing community around your brand.
I’ve worked with her for a while now, and let me tell you she is such a gem.
Her bubbly and magnetic personality translates well to her social media, and she’s cultivated quite the community of die-hard supporters for her jewelry brand.
With a private facebook group of over 1,000 happy customers, you could say she’s a bit of a social media whiz.
I sat down with Chelsea this week to talk about how she built this community, and how she leverages it for online sales.

Rank #18: EP222: The 3 Pillars Product Content Strategy with the Jaqueline and Minna of the Product Boss
Creating online content for your product-based business doesn’t have to be a headache if you have an effective strategy.
I’d like to introduce you to two incredible ladies who have been working with brands just like yours to launch innovative products and gain visibility online.
They’re both business experts with years of experience and knowledge. Together, they formed the Product Boss Podcast for high-achieving women who own product-based businesses.
One thing their demographic has in common is a struggle to create online content. When you own a product-based business, you might hope your product will speak for itself and you can sit back and watch the sales flow in.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that.
In this day and age, people buy from people. If there’s no face to your company, there’s nothing for your customers to connect with.
So, Minna and Jacqueline came up with their 3 Pillars Product Content Strategy to help business owners create content that builds know-like-trust with their customers.
Just remember the three C’s of content, Calendar, Conversational, and Cornerstone.

Rank #20: EP204: How to Elevate Your Brand with Packaging
Unboxing experiences are a big deal these days…
If you want to sell your product for premium prices, you have to think about packing!
When customers open their purchase, they want it to be fun – to feel good.
New designers sometimes think of packing as an added expense… just another thing they have to spend money on.
But actually, packing is an investment in growing your business. It's an opportunity to elevate your brand – and stand out against the competition.
And there’s a lot that goes into great packaging…
You need to be considering…
Your customer and what aesthetic they’re attracted to…
The sustainability of the materials you’re using…
What colors are trending this year…
Customers are more and more aware these days of fashion trends. And a brand with really unique packaging STANDS OUT.
It's a way to be remembered and noticed. It raises brand awareness along with elevating your product…
This week I got to chat with Barbara Whitney from Packaging Specialties about what designers need to know to create great packaging… and how to use it to stand out against the competition.
