Chris Sims and Matt Wilson love movies. The kinds you would pick up on VHS on a Friday afternoon and have to watch that weekend, no matter how terrible it was. They also love to hate them. Movie Fighters is a celebration of that. Each episode, they watch a movie, recap it, and try to make sense of it. They often don't.

Rank #1: Episode 69: VS Horror Express

Podcast cover
Read more
It's Spooktoberfest, and cruel fate has thrown our newest film at us: 1972's Horror Express, starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing! It's been described as The Thing on a train, and that's pretty much exactly what it is, even though it takes a little while to really get up to speed.  It also features two actresses who look so much alike we thought they were the same character through half the movie! Watch along with us on YouTube!

It's a new year and time for a new series on Movie Fighters! We're starting off 2016 with our long-awaited series of movies starring rappers, and we decided that a great kickoff would be the time-appropriate Ice Cube (and Xzibit) vehicle XXX: State of the Union! One of us liked this dumb, dumb movie with a overcomplicated plot more than the other. Try to guess which! You can watch along with us on Netflix, too!

We're back and we're kicking off what may be March Mattel Madness with 1987's live-action Masters of the Universe movie, starring Dolph Lundgren! Our take: It ain't as bad as you think, though it's a horrible adaptation of the cartoon. Skeletor is pretty rad, though. Watch along with us on YouTube!

Listener Lucas Brown has sent us another batch of Tim-Tams from Australia, so we're going to try them! These are gelato-inspired Tim-Tams, which means there's a real gourmet feel to them. Plus, they're Tim-Tams, so they're already probably pretty good. See how they stack up! Also: We rank the best food at Dollywood!

We're back with the snacks, and trying an assortment of candy from Vietnam! Much like the Beijing Special Product bag from our first two specials, many of these didn't have readable labels, so we're flying blind. Will we come out OK? Listen and find out?

Chris came back from his cruise to Cozumel with some Mexican snacks, so we're watching a movie that's been described as "Mexico's answer to Rocky"! The problem is that the movie isn't really Mexican and is much, much worse than Rocky. You can watch along with us on Hulu if you want to judge for yourself!

Rank #13: Episode 59: VS Romeo Must Die

Podcast cover
Read more
We did it, everyone: We managed to continue Rapper/Actor: Right Back Atacha and celebrate Valentine's Day all in one show! The movie that helped us accomplish that mission? The 2000 Jet Li/Aaliyah romance(?) film Romeo Must Die (which also features DMX). But is it really a romance film? Well, that's debateable. They don't even kiss, which was the basis for some controversy. What does happen is that Jet Li controls Aaliyah's body at one point to beat up a motorcycle lady. There's also a lot of stuff about football. You can watch along with us on Amazon or iTunes if you wish!

We skipped Constantine back in 2005 since it didn't really seem like a faithful comics adaptation, and we never watched it back when we were doing movie reviews on ComicsAlliance, for whatever reason. So we're catching up with it now that it's on Netflix. We weren't wrong about how good of a comics adaptation it is, but it does have plenty of merits on its own!

It's our second time going to a movie theater for a Movie Fighters and our second video-game-based movie starring Dwayne Rocky "The Rock" Maivia Johnson, as we watch the 2018 blockbuster Rampage for this week's show. Guess what: It's bad! Like, shockingly bad. Marvel as we are utterly baffled by the choices in this movie, including every line of dialogue and the accent Jeffrey Dean Morgan chooses for his character. Also: We recorded this in a hotel room, so sorry for any poppin' p's!

We're finally opening up the Cannon Canon this time around, and we're starting off with what ultimately proved to be a bad choice, 1987's Going Bananas, starring Dom DeLuise, Jimmy Walker, a disturbingly adult-like kid and a man in a chimpanzee costume. The chimp talks, folks. It talks. It's awful. And it isn't the only terrible thing about this movie. There's so much more. You can watch along with us on YouTube (while it lasts) if you dare!
