Squat Cobbler 95: Allison Victoria-Wolfe

Tangent Tally: 2 This week Mike and I are joined by our long time friend, Allison Victoria-Wolfe.  We Twitter-met when Swamp Shark aired and Allison has been kind enough to join us several times on various podcasts.  She is always amazingly fun to chat with.  Since last we met, ALLISON WON SEASON 15 OF WORST COOKS IN AMERICA! We talk a lot about that, Mike and Allison exchange cooking tips, and Allison bravely addresses her anti-cheese stance as well as “the pepper flake incident”. We also get to hear a little bit about a project Allison has in pre-production! Want to subscribe to the Nurture and Support podcast, which is also home to the Squat Cobbler podcast?? Squat Cobbler 91: Nikki Bilderback and Staged Killer live tweet… and *sigh* Gerald Webb

This week we recap the Staged Killer (available on Netflix) live tweet and are joined by Nikki Bilderback and Gerald Webb. This is a very fun conversation and you really should listen.  You’ll get some extremely cool insights into the making of Staged Killer and Mike (as usual) lies a lot. Squat Cobbler 96: Messy Baker and Heavy Breathing

This week Mike and I do a recommendation show.  We are using OBS and standard Google Hangouts to record now, and I clearly I have some learning to do.  I THOUGHT I was muting my mic via the Hangout, but clearly that was not the case.  So this episode you will be treated to ice clanking in my drink and nearly omnipresent labored nose breathing.  Hopefully for the last time.  Sorry!! Tangent Tally: 2 This week Dr. Mike and I step though another playlist, this one from me.  No real theme to the selections, just songs I truly enjoy. Squat Cobbler 113: Dr. Mike Coaches Kelly

TANGENT TALLY: ZERO! This week Dr. Mike and I discuss recently implemented rules AND FINES for content targeted for children advanced by Google and the Gub-ment. My initial reaction was SQUAT COBBLER NEEDS TO MAKE KIDS VIDEOS, Mikes was EVEN IF WE DON’T WE MIGHT STILL NEED A “GO FUND ME” TO HEDGE AGAINST FINES. As always, I see opportunity and good and Dr. Mike see incarceration and fines. Read more here from the FTC. Squat Cobbler 112: Pete Townshend is a d*ck

TANGENT TALLY: 2 This week Dr. Mike and I discuss a former hero of mine who had some very unpleasant things to say recently… Pete Townshend.  Pete shared in a Rolling Stone article that he was glad Keith Moon and John Entwistle were dead and that he was basically the only thing good about The Who.  He also managed to work in the The Who aren’t a band anymore, in an interview to PROMOTE The Who’s upcoming new release. Nice work Pete. Clearly Pete knew we were coming after him and he has tried to back-peddle some, passing his words off as “I was being ironic in my own English way“. On a happier note, Dr. Mike and I officially declared war on Hanson,  Squat Cobbler is coming for ya boys. Squat Cobbler 82: The Who – Quadrophenia (album review)

“I got a Gibson without a case, but I can’t get that even tanned look on my face” Tangent Tally: 6.5 This week Mike and I review the Who’s “Quadrophenia”. This is an outstanding album and we both marvel at the drumming of a certain Mr. Keith Moon. I apologize that I made several unforced errors in the review.  I goofed up on what songs were on what side, confused the band member themes, and I managed to explain the song structure of “Helpless Dancer” while we were discussing “Dirty Jobs”.  In my defense, I was tired and still in recovery from the Dwarves review

Squat Cobbler 74: Space Issues

This week Mike and Kelly set a record for tangents prior to the recommendations.  Sorry. Mike’s Recommendation – Technology Connections YouTube Channel This channel is a treasure trove on all sorts of technology tidbits ranging from closed captioning, LEDs, DVD-RAM, Laserdiscs, etc… Mike specifically mentioned the segment on the history of cassette tapes as a “must listen” Kelly’s Recommendation – Walking Dead Our World app Great game play, augmented reality, and zombies (!) in the Pokemon Go meets the Walking Dead app.  Available on Android and iOS, this joint effort between Google Maps and AMC is extremely fun to play.  Game play is intuitive, but if you want to take it to the next level, Reddit has all the information you would ever need.  The app is challenging Pokemon Go as Kelly’s go to “walk in and out of work” entertainment. As mentioned in the podcast, Kelly recommended Pokemon Go on Nurture and Support 120 (July 2016). In a clear violation of recommendation protocol, Mike recommended Pokemon Go on Squat Cobbler 8 (August 2016). Please remember, if Mike recommends The Walking Dead Our World at a later date, we all need to call him out and declare “CHICANERY! CHICANERY!” Social Media Recommendations Kelly: @ChrisEvans – Captain America is a must follow as we approach Avenger’s Endgame… plus Mr. Evans is a stand up guy Mike: Kelly’s YouTube channel – home of Nurture and Support, Squat Cobbler, A Saul and Battery, and other silliness.

Squat Cobbler 73: Cosplay and Retro Gaming

This week you’ll get a great YouTube channel recommendation and a fun retro gaming option.  In addition to the recommendations, Mike and Kelly wander around such topics as YouTube comments, monetization, the Amiga 2000, BASIC, and The Killing Joke. Kelly’s Recommendation Orvix Cosplay – This is an awesome YouTube channel run by an equally awesome person.  It has cosplay talk, how-to videos, vlogs from cons and Disneyland… what’s not to love? Here is the super cool Killing Joke shirt project Kelly mentioned Mike’s Recommendation The C64 Mini – Aside from a keyboard unable to cope with Mike’s large man hands, this is a pretty amazing retro gaming option – at a great price.  Not only can you install additional games to the system, it comes fully operational for you to code and run BASIC programs. Here is the difference between DO WHILE and DO UNTIL.  Kelly still doesn’t grasp it. Social Media Recommendations Kelly – Orvix Cosplay’s Instagram Mike – Mike recommended @the64mini on Twitter, but that account doesn’t exist.  So enjoy the keyboard size rants on the hashtag Random Chatter Scrapbook Here is Kelly’s “Night King of Ren” cosplay… The game Kelly cheated at all the time on the Amiga was called “Wings”…

Squat Cobbler 67: Billion Dollar Babies – Battle Axe (album review)

“It’s bigger than King Kong” Thanks to a suggestion from our listener Mick, this week Mike and Kelly discuss Battle Axe by Billion Dollar Babies.  When the original Alice Cooper group went there separate ways, three members of the band formed Billion Dollar Babies.  The concept for Battle Axe was to be the follow up for the the original group’s final collaboration, “Muscle of Love“. While there are some moments, listening to this album (and Alice’s “Goes to Hell” and “Lace and Whiskey” outings that were also released around this time) point out how amazing the original group’s mixture of talent was. It was a tough go for Billion Dollar Babies and there is little on the Internet about them.  Here is one of the best histories on the band and a few (rare) pics Also, Kelly mentioned the somewhat shady live album of Battle Axe…

I’m the bump on your head as you step on the rake At “breakneck speed” Mike and Kelly review the latest Alice Cooper release, the live album “A Paranormal Evening at the Olympia Paris”.  Outside of song discussion you’ll learn of Kelly’s deep love for the French and the usual uncomfortable reveal of Mike’s inner passions. In the review, Mike mentioned the cover might be a bit similar to the newest Prince release.  You be the judge… Also, as promised, Zorro’s Ascent (sadly, not on this album)
