Rank #1: 212 | Lacy Phillips of Free & Native on Situational Magnetism, Subconscious Beliefs, Body Image, Style, Authenticity + much more

A few months ago I was introduced to Free & Native's Lacy Phillips through my friend Katie. Over dinner one night Katie mentioned a workshop she’d recently attended in New York led by Lacy. After hearing about her experience, I was intrigued, yet slightly apprehensive because after years of obsession and addiction to all things personal-growth, spirituality, and manifestation I was at a point where I was exhausted by content even in the vicinity of self-help. Despite my trepidation I checked out Free & Native and few clicks and several hours later, I was hooked. Luckily, Lacy’s work is anti-self help while being the most helpful content I’ve stumbled upon in recent years. From her style and aesthetic to her message and wisdom, her work became very meaningful to me in the weeks leading up to this interview so I was a bit nervous to meet her in person when it finally arrived. Fortunately, Lacy was so warm and welcoming putting me at ease the second I walked into her Brooklyn apartment. We sipped a tea infusion she made us (She's also an herbalist) and chatted for hours about everything from bodies and food to style and design to relationships and finding partnership to authenticity, envy, feeling feelings, labels, boundaries, and of course debunking myths about manifestation. She’s the real deal; kind, genuine, smart, articulate, and beautiful. I loved this episode.

I’m a huge fan of all things simple, clean and eco-friendly. That’s why when I found Branch Basics it was exactly what I was looking for in cleaning products. They have a single multi-purpose concentrate that makes cleaning simple, affordable and sustainable. All of the products use just one solution mixed with different amounts of water which makes it both easy and significantly less expensive than similar single-use products. Plus I only have to keep one cleaning solution (which saves tons of space). Branch Basics is great for tackling any cleaning job around the house, from dishes to dirty laundry.

Rank #3: 032 | TARA STILES

Today’s WWRadio guest, Tara Stiles, has been my idol since I started practicing yoga in a high school gym class. She inspired me to take my yoga practice off of the mat, taught me that yoga was for everyone, and inspired me to become a teacher. Through her yoga  videos, easy yet creative recipes, books, dvds, and support she has been like a yoga big sister and friend to me. A fellow Midwesterner, I connect with her so deeply and I know you will too. In today’s conversation we get into everything from her early ballet and modeling career, how she found yoga, how she started her own business, and advice for yogis and entrepreneurs. She explains how yoga can be effective for weight-loss as well as so many concepts on how to find the ease in your life. She so smart, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth.

My favorite lines & nuggets of wisdom: YEP THEY’RE TWEETABLES…Just click right on ‘em!

“Just bend your knees anyone can touch their toes.”

“Yoga’s not about being flexible, it’s about making space for yourself.”

“Trusting your intuition will lead to a healthy capable life.”

“Yoga exists in all of us why do we need to look the same way when we do it?”

TIP: In regards to relationships, when working with your partner be sure to define clear roles. Know who is doing what and what you are each comfortable with. Learn that as women become the powerful business people it is okay for you to have your smart guy there in a supporting role.

If you’re going to work together, still act like a company and define clear roles and turn it off at night. It’s important to set priorities especially when you’re so passionate about your business.

A few months ago, I heard Savala as a guest on Christy Harrison's Food Psych podcast and instantly liked her and hoped to have a conversation with her. Savala Nolan Trepczynski is a lawyer, writer, mother, and very funny wise person. I related to her in so many ways. Although our backgrounds are vastly different, the way we engaged with diet culture was actually pretty similar. I started following her on instagram and am so glad I had the opportunity to have her on the pod. This week's episode is a long one. I open up on where I am with body image and re-recovery. We cover so many topics including: technology, anxiety, the importance of rest, meditation, romantic relationships, the importance of bread with butter, personal style & getting dressed when you don’t feel good about your body, size fluctuations, and way more. She's so magnetic and friendly -- this is one of my favorite episodes in a while.

Rank #7: 185 | NEW Isabel Foxen Duke on Sanity Around Food, Surrender, Diet Culture, Fat Phobia as a Social Justice Concept + much more

Podcast cover
Read more

A few years ago I was a mess around food and my body. My entire life revolved around what I was eating next. If I wasn't preoccupied with my next meal, I was thinking about what I'd eaten earlier and what that meant for what or how much I'd allow myself to eat later. On the rare occasion I wasn't thinking about food, googling gluten-free-dairy-free recipes, or checking out another vegan restaurant's menu I was thinking about my body and how I was terrified of it changing in a way I wasn't comfortable with. I'm embarrassed to admit all of this but that was my internal reality until I found the work of today's repeat guest Isabel Foxen Duke. Isabel showed me there's another way to live. She taught me why I and so many people fall into an obsession with thinness and therefore dieting and consequently food, all as a result of thinness as a standard of beauty in our culture and the pervasive diet culture that has created. She taught me about fat phobia and how I had internalized it. She taught me about intuitive eating and deconstructing my diet mentality to listen to my body's hunger and fullness signals. She taught me about emotional eating and how it's not wrong, rather it is merely a coping mechanism and a response to years of deprivation with food. She taught me to diversity my hobbies away from wellness alone and to instead focus my attention on my career, creativity, and relationships. Most of all, she helped my to finally stop fighting food and work on making my life as a whole really beautiful, not just my body. We talk about all this and more in today's very long, robust episode. As I mentioned in the inro, I took Isabel's flagship program in 2014 and it honestly really helped me. She's launching it again and that means her free video training series is available for a while so watch those videos here  to see what you think. And enjoy this episode with my friend and mentor IFD.

Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother, HappyThankYouMorePlease, Liberal Arts) - on acting, spirituality, creativity & much more.

for full shownotes & links to everything mentioned look below...

I've been recording this podcast in my bedroom since 2013. I've recorded over 150 hours of conversation, connected with people all over the world, and made real life friends through my guests and listeners. I've gleaned an abundance of wisdom from the diverse group of guests I've had the opportunity to uninterruptedly speak with people I deeply admire and respect, getting to ask them anything I was curious about, an opportunity I don't take for granted. At 22 years old, freshly out of college I never would have imaged how much a purely creative passion project would mean to me almost four years later or how it would have grown.

I feel like a completely different person now at 26 to who I was back then when I started but one thing remains, my favorite movie is still a movie my college boyfriend showed me in 2010 called HappyThankYouMorePlease. This film reminded, me even if only for that hour and forty minutes, that with gratitude the universe is infinitely abundant. I told everyone about the film and I re-watched it so often that the dvd (remember those?) my boyfriend gave me wore out. Two years later, probably sick of rewatching the same movie on repeat he showed me a new movie called Liberal Arts he claimed I'd like equally as much since it had the same writer, director, and star as the first movie I loved. He was right.  This film was timely since we'd just graduated from college and were wrestling with the concept of adulthood which Liberal Arts  tackles.

These movies led me to explore their creator the man both in front and behind the camera: Josh Radnor. I realized Josh was was a really famous guy from starring in the  sitcom How I Met Your Mother, I also learned he was midwestern like me, a meditator like me, and a deeply self-aware, wise, and kind human being (like i hope to become). I became as fascinated with him as a person as I was by his work. He inspired me, he made me think about things like religion, creativity, and writing in a new way and above all his insight inspired me to want to be better at being myself and expressing myself creatively. Whenever anyone would ask who my dream podcast guest would be I would jokingly say Josh, not knowing the slightest how I could even get a hold of him. It seemed like a pipe dream, but long story short um it happened and today you're hearing my conversation with one of my favorite artists, someone whose work is super meaningful to me and above all someone from what I can tell is genuinely kind, generous, and wise. Enjoy my a conversation with Josh Radnor. We recorded this via skype while he was filming a tv show in Richmond.

He inspired me, he made me think about things like religion, creativity, and writing in a new way and above all his insight inspired me to want to be better at being myself and expressing myself creatively. Whenever anyone would ask who my dream podcast guest would be I would say Josh, not knowing the slightest how I could get a hold of him or make that happen. It seemed like a pipe dream, but long story short it happened and today you're hearing my conversations with one of my favorite people, someone whose work is super meaningful to me and above all someone from what I can tell is genuinely kind, generous, wise and woke. Enjoy my dream come true of a conversation with Josh Radnor.

I find guests for this podcast in a myriad of ways . Today's guest was recomended by a podcast listener and longtime internet friend. Our cozy conversation in her Manhattan apartment on a cold Friday night exceeded my expectations and meandered all over. Claire is not only beautiful but wise, insightful, and vulnerable. She's known for yoga yet we barely touched on yoga and instead focusing on her winding path to where she is now including  her eating disorder in her teens, how she stumbled into the career she's in now, all the way up to  her decision to go on to grad school for psychology. We talked about food psychology, the value of therapy, the complexities body positivity, being a social media influencer and what that even means, sustainable self-love, comparison in social media and beyond, journaling and writing, and much more. I loved meeting Claire and I think you will too.

Today’s WWRadio is probably the one that has inspired me most since I recorded it back in February. I’ve already implemented many of the ideas we discussed here into my life and have already seen amazing results. This week I chatted with Jordan Bach who is an all around super cool guy I look up to a ton as a spiritual guru and leader. Jordan is a life coach, writer, and speaker and a champion for gays inspiring people all around the world. He’s been called “one of the LGBT architects of the next decade” by The Advocate and he runs the site TheBachBook.com an online home for gay men who want to make the most of their lives. I’m so excited to for you to hear our deep chat and his inspiration. His is so wise, authentic, and most of all massively down-to-earth. He’s doing amazing work to inspire what I aspire to inspire here in the Wellness Wonderland which is: radical deep authenticity. We get deep into this more in this episode, but what Jordan believes is that authenticity is about balance and going in and out of authenticity with grace and ease. This, and everything he shared was hugely impactful and I know you’ll want to turn up the volume on this week’s episode and brace yourself for being hugely inspired.

I love Danielle LaPorte and her work. I've been following her closely for over 5 years, reading every book and listening to her on every podcast. She's been a mentor from afar and  on my list of future pod guests (and a popular request from so many listeners!) since day one.. Danielle embodies so much of what I admire in a women. She values creativity above all else, has learned from experience how to combine fierce persistence with ease, finds gratitude in even the craziest situations, and mothers in a way I admire. She is constantly growing and learning, which she talks about on today's episode as well as in her new book, White Hot Truth, which I loved. It's a refreshing self-help book that's unlike any other self-help content. It's a playbook for owning our individual joy and spirituality without all the dogma and rules the modern personal growth world often promotes. This is one of those books that you want in hardcopy; to read, reread, underline, and notate. I took so many notes from this book about life, creativity, gratitude, finding flow and more. We cover all of these topics plus some of my others I was eager to ask Danielle about like feminism, body image,  motherhood, full-time jobs and entrepreneurship, and of course the usual quick fire questions.  Let me know your favorite parts in the facebook group and be sure to find me on social media so we can be friends there too.

As so many of you know Gabby is not only a mentor to me but also a friend and inspiration in my life. She has been a HUGE part of my journey in the past few years and I believe her wisdom and guidance have been an integral part of where I am today. Every year she offers a free video series that breaks down her wisdom in four major areas of life. Who better to kick off season 3 of WWRadio than today's radically authentic guest. She brings out my own raw insights on our relationship with food and body image. Isabel Foxen Duke is only our second repeat guest and an emotional freedom from food extraordinaire and coach, Isabel stopped by Wonderland on episode 009 to shed light on real techniques on how to release toxic relationships to food and tell her personal food journey that led her to the work she does with women today. Most of us have become lint rollers picking up some pretty nasty thought patterns around food, whether we realize it or not. I challenge you to own it first and then listen to today's episode with an open mind about changing that.

We discuss this in our first Podcast together but the first step to freedom from emotional attachment to food and becoming what Ellyn Satter calls a 'normal eater' is to get honest about where you are. In this conversation we'll help you figure out exactly where that is. Listen to the whole thing, it's really eye opening and packed with info so you might want to listen multiple times to really let is soak in. We go really high level in this podcast so jump back to listen to our first episode together to get more info about Isabel and her personal story in episode 009. & I've also interviewed her multiple times & all those links are below as well.

If any of these things we spoke about resonate with you click here to sign up for her FREE video training series to go deep into her concepts.

Gabrielle Bernstein has been my friend and mentor for over 4 years now. She's the real deal, helping people all over the world with her books and lectures, but the thing I admire most about Gabby is how much she truly loves what she does. Her passion for her work is what's most inspiring to me. I hope she never stops writing and creating and I really don't think she will. This book The Universe Has Your Back (out today!) is super timely with everything going on in the world. There's a worldly need for growth beyond our own personal development onto how we're going to navigate the tumultuous times we're living in. In today's episode Gabby talks about why this book was the most challenging to write and took double the amount of time than her pervious books, where the idea for the book came from, and how this book is different from her previous books. Today’s WWRadio guest is one of my favorite people on the planet. I chatted with Julie Piatt, plant-based chef, healer, musician, yogi and mother. Through embracing a high-vibe diet, Julie healed herself of what doctors insisted was incurable. This experience gave her a deeper connection to food, and proved to her the miraculous ability of the body to heal itself when supported with pure, whole, living foods. Julie co-authored the best selling Jai Seed cookbook with her husband author and speaker Rich Roll. Rich hosts one of my favorite podcasts of all time and my favorite episodes of his show are the ones where Julie is in the hot seat. Her expertise encompasses a whole lifestyle approach to healthy, creative, and authentic family life. Julie is full of deep wisdom that has changed me deeply. I’m so thrilled to share that wisdom with you in this episode where we get her insight on everything including relationships, food, family, education, yoga, music, and more. As you can see below this episode was chalk full of aha moments I struggled to choose just three Tweetables like I usually do. So let us know your favorite lines from Julie in the comments bellow.

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open."

in bold company with Kristina Gonzalez Sander

in bold company is a lifestyle podcast and community created to give women of color the opportunity to relate, connect and support each other as they explore their identities. The podcast dives deep into topics like wellness, entrepreneurship, self-development, family, money, and more. These are the conversations we’ve been waiting for, the ones we don’t hear enough. Let’s dig in.

Episode 1: Inner Child Work, Ancestral Healing, and Feminine Energy with Ferny Barceló
Ready to talk about family? Oh yeah, we go there. Our guest is our Ferny Barceló is a holistic therapist for women plus a yoga and meditation teacher. In this episode, definitely get a bit esoteric. We talk about exploring our relationships with our parents, our ancestors, white-passing and being a proud Latina.

Connect with us on @inboldcompany You can find Ferny Barceló and her offerings on her website or on Instagram. Ferny references the book It Didn't Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Who We Are and How to End the Cycle by Mark Wolynn. Birth chart readings by Far Out Astro. Highly recommend. If you want your own set of Oracle Cards, my friend Kati has a shop in Austin (and online) called Rituals Austin.

Rootless Cosmos with Clarissa Marks

One curious but discerning woman goes on an expedition of Jewish heritage. Tune in for a series of deep dives with experts and conversations with innovators on the cutting edge of Jewish cultural change. All are welcome as we tackle topics related to Jews, culture, history, identity and society.

Episode 3: What's It Like to Write About Jews AND Pop-Culture? With Journalist and Author Abraham Riesman
Clarissa talks with Abraham Riesman. Abe is a reporter and essayist for New York magazine and often writes for its culture and entertainment site, Vulture. In addition to arts and culture, Abe covers Jewish topics, and sometimes he finds a way for the two to overlap. He also has a new book coming out on the Jewish Marvel Comics icon, Stan Lee. In this episode, Clarissa and Abe talk about his Jewish and journalist journeys, find out they went to the same Hebrew school, and they dig into the raison d'etre behind this podcast.
