But since it's such a huge part of our culture, they are both pushed pretty hard on us which makes us believe it's ok to consume regularly. But cutting it out of your day-to-day life can be incredibly eyeopening and may even show you what feeling good actually feels like. This podcast is a reminder of how sugar and alcohol effect the body and the damage they can both do. And to chat about some of the best ways to cut it out of your diet!

Rank #2: Paleo on a Budget – Episode 4: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

Podcast cover
Read more
Paleo on a budget was a highly requested topic. Because, well, everyone is on some sort of budget. And that's something to remember: make the best choices you can that fit within your budget and your lifestyle. Just because you can afford grass fed meat doesn't mean you should be heating up a hot pocket or freezer meal or eating fast food. That's gross. Eat real food, even if it isn't perfect. It's better than what most of the population are eating out there.
Here's a little recap from the podcast:

Places to find cheaper meats:

Find a farmer near you
Get a deep freezer
Split a cow
Freeze and thaw and eat everything you are given

Online companies for meats that can ship:

US Wellness Meats
Texas Grassfed

If you buy at the grocery store:

Grassfed, if possible
Look for what is on sale and cook that
Use the cheaper cuts like stew meat or roasts or organ meat - learn to cook those items
If you can't get organic or hormone free or grassfed, remove excess or any visible fat before cooking (that's where sketchy sh*t is stored)

When buying vegetables:

Join a local CSA
Eat in season - you'll know something is in season when it's a little cheaper, but you can also find a full list here
Items that are less important when it comes to buying organic - Clean fifteen
Items more important to buy organic and wash thoroughly – Dirty dozen

Pantry staples:

Buy products from Amazon
Buy in bulk at Costco
Thrive Market
Tropical traditions

Spices:

Buy in bulk and online

Baking:

If you’re trying to stay on budget DON’T BAKE. Baking costs so much more and it’s unneeded in our diet. You need real food, so stay away as much as you can when it comes to baked goods.
Make your own products such as almond milk, almond flour, ghee, etc.

Start looking at what your normal expenses are:

Are you going out to drinks every week with friends?
Are you paying $5 every day for a coffee?
Are you eating out on a weekly basis?
What things can be removed so you can eat better. It's all about choices, even on a really tight budget!

Favorite Snacks:

Larabars
RX Bars
Mammoth Bars
Plantain Chips
Nut Butter Packets - My Favorite (doesn't upset my stomach)

Favorite PaleOMG slow cooker recipes:

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Chili
Slow Cooker Tomatillo Pork Chile Verde
Crockpot Carne Asada Loaded Fries
Easy Shredded Pork over Caramelized Mashed Plantains
Barbacoa
Brazilian Curry Chicken
Crockpot Ropa Vieja with Cuban Style Rice
Mushroom Gravy Slow Cooked Rump Roast
Honey Ginger Apple Shredded Pork

If you have any questions or comments or ways that you save while still eating healthy, please leave your comments below to help even more people out!

This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored.

Juli Bauer: Well hey there guys! How’s it going today, this fine, whatever day you’re listening to do. That didn’t even make sense. Dammit, I already screwed this whole podcast up! I just gave my dog the emptiness of a yogurt, a sheep’s yogurt, so he could just chew on that a little bit; lick any little ounce of yogurt out. So if you hear slurping, some moving, it’s pretty much to get my dog to not ask me and whine to go outside so I can get this podcast done. You know, I need to get this done for you guys. Because today, we need to talk about paleo on a budget. But we’ll get there, ok.

I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts, guys, all kinds of stuff. And you know, I found that there are some really good podcasts out there, but I’m more so obsessed with the true crime ones. Am I the only person who’s obsessed with these things? I mean, other people have to be obsessed, because they’re, like; the top 100 are all true crime. Seriously. So I’ve listened to Serial, which is always the number one. Jackson, can you stop making as much noise, please?

I listened to Undisclosed, but I got a little bored so I stopped listening to that.

Rank #3: Exercise & Over-Exercising – Episode 3: PaleOMG Uncensored Podcast

Podcast cover
Read more
I always believed calories in-calories out when it came to weight loss and weight management. But after competing in CrossFit, limiting my caloric intake, and working out multiple times per day - I finally figured out that was not the case. My body was inflamed and yearning for more carbohydrates and less exercise. But I was too addicted to exercise to see the full picture. My workouts began to suffer and my body continued to progress into a constant state of stress. There was no recovery in my life and my body began to show it.

It wasn't until I gave up competing, gave in to more rest days and started feeding my body properly that I began to see results. I slept longer at night, I slowly began to lose weight and the inflammation in my body reduced, I listened to what exactly my body was craving and ate those things, and I became a much MUCH happier person.

I had no balance in my life for so many years. I would either completely limit my food intake or eat everything in sight. I would not workout at all or workout multiple times per day. I would completely hate everything about myself and constantly talk down to myself instead of putting good energy out into the world. It was a really negative times, that lasted for about 24 years.

I'm saying all this because I see so many other people go through it as well. Thinking they need to starve themselves or just workout more instead of looking at the big picture: workout regularly, take rest days, eat well, stress less, sleep more, and be kind to yourself. It's amazing how much your body will thank you when you follow those few things.

Juli Bauer: Hello! Hello everyone out there. Welcome to the PaleOMG Uncensored podcast. I feel as though I need to start introducing myself, since I haven’t done that in the past two. I’m just really getting my shoes on; getting going. Whatever the hell that means.

Last week, I had a bunch of you, thankfully, let me know that I suck and I need to suck less by writing down kind of an overview of what my topic is going to be so I don’t get lost. Because I tend to do that. But I will get lost, even though I have an awesome overview planned out; I’m just letting you know ahead of time.

Anywho. Today we are going to be talking about exercise and over-exercise. Ooh, what a fun topic. I have done both in my life, so I want to kind of tell my story about that. I always thought calories in, calories out. So if I was eating a certain amount of calories, the more I worked out, the more weight I would lose, or the more muscle definition I would see. I always had this kind of belief in that. But we’ll get into that in a little bit.

I want to talk about kind of my history with exercise. If you’ve seen my Instagram or my blog, every Monday I post what I did, when my rest days were. I also share once in a while what I ate in a day, and I give you free travel workouts and on-sale fitness apparel and new workout music, and sometimes I kind of just talk about motivational stuff; what’s kept me motivated and excited about exercise in the end. So, I’m just going to talk all about that. You can always find more details on www.paleomg.com every Monday if you want to know details about more exercise.

But first, let’s talk a little bit about history. Let’s go back in the books, guys. Of Juli Bauer; now Juli Bauer-Roth,

While in Austin, I recorded a podcast with Lexi from Lexi’s Clean Kitchen, Cassy from Fed & Fit and Vanessa from Clean Eating with a Dirty Mind and we talked about a lot of girl things, awkward dating stories and inappropriate bodily functions. It's all quite fun. And also probably annoying.

Episode 44 Transcription!

This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored.

Juli Bauer: Ok. We’ve been recording this entire time. So don’t worry I can cut it down. I won’t though. But, ok. Welcome to the 44th episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. I’m so glad to have you here today, whoever you are out there. But I’m mostly glad to have Cassy, Lexi, and Vanessa here today.

If you’ve listened to my podcast before, you know that I’ve had these ladies on here before. And if you're sitting in this room, they’re all looking at their phones right now.

Everybody: {laughing}

Juli Bauer: These fcking btches. {laughs} So anyways. I’ve had all these ladies on, because they’re my close girlfriends. I met them through the blogsphere. Through the internet. Interwebz, if you will. And they’re all f*cking awesome. And they're all totally different. And I just love them. But they live in different states, so I never get to hang out with them. We only communicate through text.

So, today we’re here in Texas, in Austin, at the Siete Foods headquarters. They have a recording studio, which is probably why this will be the best podcast I’ll ever record. And yeah. So we’re here today. That’s what we’re doing. We’re hanging out in Austin. So before we get started; I don’t have any questions planned. So before we get started, will you guys introduce yourselves? Talk about who you are. Let’s keep it quick. We have a lot of females in here, so we’ll talk a lot. But a little synopsis about yourself. Just a life synopsis. Do you want to start, Vanessa?

Vanessa Barajas: I would love to, thanks so much Juli.

Juli Bauer: Yes, yes.

Vanessa Barajas: Hi guys! I am Vanessa. My name is Vanessa Barajas. I run the blog Clean Eating with a Dirty Mind. So if you haven’t seen it, go ahead and check it out. My kind of whole premise is I make sweet treats and desserts that don’t have the guilt. So it’s all paleo friendly, gluten free, grain free. But it still actually tastes like the real thing. So it’s a little bit about me.

I’m also very excited that podcasts aren’t videos, because I feel like if you could see how awesome we look this morning, you’d be kind of happy, too. We’ve definitely got the face for radio right now.

Everybody: {laughing}

Vanessa Barajas: So yeah. But I think that’s it.

Juli Bauer: Do you want to tell anybody about something special that happened in your life?

Vanessa Barajas: Oh. Could you be talking about the fact that I just got engaged?!

Juli Bauer: Oh sh*t.

Vanessa Barajas: And I have this crazy amazing engagement ring and I’m so excited?!

Juli Bauer: Yes. Yes. Congratulations.

Vanessa Barajas: Thank you very much. Yes. My boyfriend and I of 7 years just got engaged last week. So we’ve been joking around that this whole trip to Austin is just to celebrate that, because Siete Foods, 7. Siete means 7 in Spanish.

Juli Bauer: {laughs} Thanks for clarifying.

Vanessa Barajas: And my boyfriend and I, we’ve been together for 7 years. So this whole trip is just to celebrate that. Hmm-hmm.

Lexi Kornblum: Love it.

Juli Bauer: Congratulations.

You know what time it is. It’s time to talk about one of my favorite sponsors; Sun Basket. Sun Basket makes eating fresh and delicious meals every single night easier than ever. With Sun Basket, you can have a healthy meal on the table in under 30 minutes. There’s no compromising with your own health goals when you have easy to cook meals that are delivered right to your door step.

With Sun Basket, they deliver organic and clean ingredients with 18 healthy options to choose from every single week. They work with the best farms and suppliers to bring you fresh and organic produce, and responsibly raised meats and seafood. And everything is premeasured and easy to prep. Everything I’ve made for myself has taken under 30 minutes, and clean up is a breeze because everything comes in these little tiny containers that you can just recycle away.

I get the paleo option from Sun Basket, but they also have gluten free, lean and clean, vegan, Mediterranean, family options, and more to suit anyone’s lifestyle. This week, in my own Sun Basket box, I tried the TexMex Turkey Skillet, with green chilies and avocado, and then the one-pan salmon with creamy citrus dressing and stone fruit snap pea salad. They were both so good, and even though both of those are a mouthful, they still took under 30 minutes, and cleanup was so easy.

I love cooking these meals, because even though I cook all the time at home, this gives me inspiration in my own kitchen, and reminds me of some of the fruit and veggies that I forget to pick up at the store, because maybe I just don’t think they’re my favorite. And then I try one of Sun Basket meals, and I’m reminded that all fruits and vegetables are so good. Except for eggplant. Eggplant is gross. {laughs}

But don’t let your busy summer get in the way of your healthy goals. Sun Basket is so convenient, and they will make eating healthy in your own household easier than ever. All you have to do is go to SunBasket.com/PaleOMG today. You can learn more there, and get $35 off your first order.

This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored.

Juli Bauer: Hello! Welcome to another episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. I’m sad to tell you that I am by myself today. Recording solo. Well, Jackson is actually here. So that’s a great thing.

This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored.

Juli Bauer: Welcome to another episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. Today I have a very special guest, who is one of the first bloggers I literally ever looked at online to actually figure out what the hell a blog was. Her name is Jessica Merchant; am I saying that right? Merchant?

Jessica Merchant: {laughs} You are.

Juli Bauer: OK. Of HowSweetEats.com. She is a blogger extraordinaire; seriously. You’ve had this blog for so long. I remember, I think a few of my recipes I made were based off some of the concoctions you made. Like, using blood orange on top of fish. Which, I didn’t even know what a blood orange was when I started cooking!

Jessica Merchant: Oh, that’s so awesome. I love that.

Juli Bauer: You introduced me to new food groups before I knew even how to shop at the grocery store. So your blog has seriously been around for so long. And I’ve been looking at it. And I still look at it to this day, whenever I need some inspiration for photography. Because you are one of my favorite food photographers out there.

Jessica Merchant: Thank you so much.

Juli Bauer: But we’re going to get into all of that. So welcome. Thank you so much for coming on the podcast!

Jessica Merchant: Thank you so much for having me! I’m so excited.

Juli Bauer: Me too! Ok, so for people who don’t know who you are, will you tell us just a little bit about yourself? What you did before you were a full-time blogger. Why you got into blogging. Really just kind of your journey into blogging and where you are now.

Jessica Merchant: Sure. So, I run the blog HowSweetEats.com. And I’ve been doing it; I believe I just had my 8-year blog-iversary. I mean; I sound like such a loser saying that. But it’s a thing, apparently. So 8 years. I’ve been doing it for 8 years.

I found myself stuck in a job that I just absolutely hated. I knew from the time that I was a young kind that going to an office was not something I ever wanted to do. Ever. I think even in my 8th grade year book I wrote, “I want to be a writer.” Or something. I knew that I never wanted to sit in this corporate office setting. But that’s kind of where I found myself.

Episode 98 Transcription!

Well hey there, pumpkin. Before we get started with this weeks’ very random diary episode, I think that’s what I'm going to name it, let’s talk about this weeks’ sponsor. Because they’re not random; they’re the best. Sun Basket. Have you tried it yet? I sure hope so. Because I’ve been talking about them week after week, because they are so freaking good. And I’ve tried so many different meals.

If you haven’t heard about Sun Basket, they deliver healthy ingredients straight to your doorstep so you can make dinner in under 30 minutes. It’s so freaking cool. So they deliver organic and clean ingredients. You get 18 healthy options to choose from every single week. And they work with the best farms and suppliers to bring you fresh and organic produce and responsibly raised meats and seafood. And everything is premeasured.

How many times have you bought a whole bundle of thyme, and then you used one tablespoon, and all the others rotted in your fridge? That happens to me every single week, because I cook so often. So I’m not using thyme in every single meal. With Sun Basket, that takes the waste completely out of it. So you get your tablespoon of thyme that you need right in a package, ready to go. So much less waste. It’s just the best. I freaking love them.

They have a ton of different options. So if you are eating gluten free, paleo, lean and clean, vegan, Mediterranean, family options, and more. It suits anyone’s lifestyle. I’ve been able to eat all paleo whenever I have my meals delivered to my doorstep, and everything is so freaking good. You know what’s sad though? This week, I could not eat my Sun Basket meal because I was in Seattle over the weekend, and I was leaving for Montreal. And I knew my husband wasn’t going to follow any sort of directions, so I asked my neighbor if she wanted the box. I just asked her last night what she thought of it, and she said her and her husband absolutely loved every single meal. So I think I have them sold on Sun Basket too.

It just makes life so much easier on those crazy nights when you don’t know what to cook, or you're just not feeling inspired. They will get you inspired. And now that it’s back to school season, it’s even better to have those things. So whenever school schedule gets crazy, or the kids are back to sports and you have to get home at like 7 p.m. and the whole family is wondering what you're going to cook,

Episode 69 Transcription!

This is Juli Bauer from PaleOMG and you are listening to PaleOMG Uncensored.

Juli Bauer: Well hello. Welcome to; let’s see. We are on episode 69. The exact temperature I like to keep my house. 70 is too hot at night. 68 is too f*cking cold. 69 is where it’s at. You can make all the sex jokes you want, but they’re not really that funny.

So how’s it going? Right now, I’m on the couch. I’m looking at the dog, who has completely made a next on the top of the couch cushion. So I’ll be sitting. So my left side is up against the couch cushions. Like my feet are laid out. We have an L-style couch. So my left arm is digging into this couch cushion. And every since Jackson, months ago, decided to make this his new favorite spot, I have shoulder issues, because the couch cushion presses into my shoulder, puts me in a weird position.

And I feel like everybody is always like; oh, CrossFit causes injuries. No, it’s my couch cushion that causes injuries. Which are enhanced by physical activity. That has nothing to do with this podcast. I feel like this podcast is going to be a hodgepodge of information. Which I guess it usually is. I feel like I’ve wanted to do more interviews, but number one I have not had time. Number two, I don’t know who I want to record. I want to record with my friend, Jennifer, from Predominantly Paleo. Because she’s adorable. But I want to go outside of paleo and into other places. But I just can’t think of who I want that to be.

I don’t know. I don’t know. Before we get talking about the important things, like Crested Butte. Which was a beaut. It really was a beaut. Obsessed. I want to talk about the Bachelor going on right now. And of course, you can skip this part. But you shouldn’t. Because the Bachelor is here, and it’s here to stay. I was listening to a podcast the other day. I was listening to Barbell Shrugged podcast. Because it had Brett Contreras. I think I said his name right. The glute guy on Instagram who I just started following, because a bunch of people recommended him for butt workouts.

So I started following this guy, and I listened to his podcast episode on Barbell Shrugged. They were kind of talking about CrossFit. And he said something along the lines of; he hates that when his clients talk sht about CrossFit. Because he’s like; where do you think it’s going to go? Do you think you're just going to talk sht about it and it’s going to disappear? It is here to stay. And just so you know, Bachelor is here to stay. And you can hate it, because that’s 100% fair. And you're right. But you might as well just accept it.

My husband tried to accept it this past week. He found out that my sister-in-law and I just make fun of it the whole time we watch it. He was like; oh, I didn’t know you made fun of it. I’ll watch it. I thought it was serious. I’m like, of course it’s not serious. Obviously, you haven’t read my blog in at least four years, you motherfcker. But I do recaps every Tuesday on the blog. And it’s the best part of our week. We get to talk sht.

But I am a week behind on the blog, because I was in Mexico the first week it aired.

Juli Bauer: As you may know, I am all about that exercise. But one thing I am not all about is stretching. I hate it. I usually stretch for about 15 seconds, then I get distracted. It’s called ADHD, guys. Luckily, I’ve been stretching every day now thanks to my fitness app, Aaptiv.

I’ve told you about this a couple of times on the podcast, but if you haven’t hear about it, it is a fitness app you can listen to to do workouts, or stretches, or core workouts, running workouts. They have it all. But since I’ve been going to Crossfit and Orange Theory classes, and I’ve been super sore; I come home, I simply turn on my Aaptiv app, and I’ll run through a 5-7 minute stretching little play list. There are ones that are way longer than that, but I’m just not f*cking there yet, guys. 5-7 minutes; that’s all I’ll give. But it’s perfect. I’ve been doing those after my classes, and then trying just a little bit longer ones on my rest days, like today.

So, the cool thing about this, why you’re even still listening, is because you can try Aaptiv out right now for 30 days for free. 30 days for free; trying a ton of their different workouts that you can do anywhere in your house, at the gym, in the park; whatever. So all you have to do, you just go to www.Aaptiv.com. That’s A-A-P-T-I-V and use the promo code PALEOMG and then that’s all you do. Do you know how to spell PaleOMG? If you don’t, get it together guys! You’re listening to the podcast PaleOMG Uncensored. But just to help you out, that’s P-A-L-E-O-M-G. Think pale-OMG. Ok? That’s all you have to do. And if you don’t remember any of this, just go to www.PaleOMG.com and in this post about this lovely podcast, I’ll have all the links and the discount code so you don’t have to think about anything. It’s awesome.

You know what else is awesome? That people have been doing this. People have been trying these workouts. I just got a comment this week from a lovely listener named Brittany, and she said,

Episode 54 Transcription!
Well hey there darlin’ face. Welcome to another episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. I have a very special guest today that I’m a tad obsessed with. But before I get to that lovely person, let’s talk about this month’s sponsor. Because they are the best. And hopefully you listened to last weeks’ episode when I talked to the owner, Mike, of Butcher Box. And that’s who our sponsor is this month. Butcher Box. And when I say our sponsor, I don’t know who I’m talking about. I’m literally talking about myself. This is a one-man operation over here.

Anywho. Butcher Box is the best. And I love them. And I’ve used them for probably 8 months at this point. If you haven’t heard me talk about it on my blog, or even here, or on my Instagram, let me tell you a little bit about it. I’m tripping over every word.

If you haven’t heard of Butcher Box, they deliver pasture raised, grass-fed, grass-finished, the best quality beef, chicken, and pork that’s humanely raised and free of antibiotics and hormones. And they deliver it straight to your doorstep. So you don’t have to go to the grocery store and try to figure out what is the best quality meat. They source it for you, and deliver it right to you. It’s so awesome.

So all you have to do is select your box. Log in online, you select your box, you customize it to your liking, and you set your schedule for how often you want to receive that Butcher Box. They offer free shipping to the contiguous 48 states. And each classic box is filled with 8-11 pounds of meat.

They also launched their custom box, which I think is super cool because you get to pick whatever meat you want in it. So, say you're like, I am a cool ass b*tch; I only want a little filet mignon, throw in a little bacon. That’s all I want in my box. Boom, done. If you like only stew meat because it’s fall and you just want to put everything in the crockpot, boom. You can pick it. So you can pick exactly what you want, and then you can cook from my recipes. Which makes it even easier.

And because they are the best, get this.

Episode 74 Transcription!

Before we get started with this weeks’ episode, chatting with my good friend Brianna Firestone of the School of Betty, I’ve got to tell you about this weeks’ sponsor, Sun Basket. It’s already March. How insane is that? I seriously cannot believe. Time is going by so dang fast. And because of that, it’s pretty easy to forget about your own health. But Sun Basket completely changes that.

With Sun Basket, it’s easier than ever to lead a healthy lifestyle. Because they have you covered with their healthy, delicious meals. If you want to see results in 2018 when it comes to your health, it will always require some level of commitment. You have to make time to exercise, to get the right amount of sleep, and of course, you have to make time to eat right. That’s what I talk about every single week on my blog, and that’s why Sun Basket is so amazing.

Sun Basket delivers organic and clean ingredients with 18 healthy options to choose from every single week. They work with the best farms and suppliers to bring you fresh, organic produce and responsibly raised meats and seafood. Everything is premeasured and easy to prep. You can get healthy and delicious meals on the table in under 30 minutes. It’s crazy how fast they are.

Everything I’ve made for myself has taken under 30 minutes, and clean up is a breeze since everything comes already premeasured. You get these little tiny; if you only need about a tablespoon of thyme, they give you about a tablespoon of time. It’s crazy.

And Sun Basket offers paleo, gluten free, lean and clean, vegan, Mediterranean, family options, and more to suit anyone’s lifestyle. In my recent Sun Basket order, I loved the roasted paprika chicken with parsnips and pear salad. It was so easy to make, and totally inspired me in the kitchen, and made me excited to play around with parsnips and pears more.

With any of the recipes, you're never going to get bored, they’re all delicious. Don’t let your busy lifestyle get in the ways of your healthy goals. Just because it’s March doesn’t mean you have to put your health aside. Sun Basket is convenient, and they will make healthy eating in your household easier than ever. Go to SunBasket.com/PaleOMG today to learn more and get $35 off your first order. That’s SunBasket.com/PaleOMG for $35 off.

Now, let’s get to chatting with Brianna Firestone.

Juli Bauer: Ok, let’s get started. Ok, hi Bri! As everybody knows you as Brianna. I usually do some sort of intro, but it just doesn’t feel natural. So we’re just going to keep it on a personal level. Because that’s how we’ve known each other for years.

Brianna Firestone: I like it. Yeah.

Juli Bauer: So, everybody on the internet that has looked you up now knows you as Brianna. But I know you as Bri. Because I met you; now it has to be probably 6 years ago. When did you start at CrossFit Broadway?

Brianna Firestone: Yeah. I’ve been at Broadway now 6 years in January, so that’s right.

Juli Bauer: Yeah. Let’s talking about how we met in the first place.

Hello, darling. How are you? I’m looking into the bright white light of snow here in Colorado. Because it just keeps snowing. It just keeps goddamn snowing.

It’s really not that bad. There’s probably a quarter of an inch {laughs} on the ground. And it’s melting fast. But I think it’s supposed to snow tonight, and then again on Saturday, and then again on Sunday. {British accent} Bullsht, bullsht, bullsh*t. Name that movie. Forgetting Sarah Marshall, duh.

I have to take photos. I have to do some photos for a post tomorrow morning. And it’s supposed to be f*cking snowing outside. Which isn’t great for the outfit I have planned. This is why I need to travel more often. To be able to get photos done. Because Colorado is just not working for me.

Speaking of travel. I just got back from sunny Phoenix. It was lovely. It was just lovely. Phoenix is the best. I preface that by saying I have not been there in the summer. That’s obviously not the best time to travel there. And even the people who love summer, and love heat, do not like summer heat in Phoenix. Man, that was a terrible sentence.

So, I worked with Visit Phoenix to come out to Phoenix for a little weekend spa getaway with my husband. So we wanted to celebrate Valentine’s Day not on a Wednesday, not in freezing cold Colorado. And I didn’t want to go to restaurants. And I cook every night anyway. So nothing feels ultra special.

But, that Wednesday, that Valentine’s Day, my husband did come home with a gluten free cupcake. And he was kind of later, because he went and got a haircut after work. So I was just hanging out at the house. And I made him cookies and cut them in heart shapes. So he got me a cupcake, and I got him cookies. He just knows the way to my heart.

I was PMSing a couple of weeks ago, and I think even talked about it on the podcast. He came home with two gluten free cupcakes. He is the best. He keeps learning all these husband ways, and crushing them.

So anyway. We wanted to celebrate Valentine’s Day in some place warm. Some place close that we could leave on a Friday, come back home Sunday, and it’s an easy flight. And Arizona is the way to go. It’s just the best. Phoenix is awesome.

So we got to Phoenix. We went straight to this spa. And it’s the Aji spa. I kept calling it “Auhi”, but people were like; yeah, that’s not the word. Cool, Juli. You're the worst. But it was at the Sheridan Grande at Wild Horse Pass. And this hotel is gigantic. This resort, I guess. It has 36 holes. This crazy, I don’t know, triple A five diamond whatever any of those high awards mean restaurant. It’s called Kai restaurant. And it’s crazy hard to get into. And I really want to go back and go to that, because I didn’t get to go.

But we went to the spa. And if you're ever in Phoenix, and you're looking for a spa treatment with your husband, or with your significant other, your lover, whatever. Go to this spa. Because I went to two different spas, and the other one I think is great for girlfriends. This one I think was perfect for a spa treatment with your significant other. And that’s because they have a huge outdoor area. Spa outdoor area. A huge pool, and a jacuzzi, and café that you can just eat in your robes.
