And we take some time to expound on a recent series of tweets I had sent out about some of my Top DOs and DONTs for improving as a DM/GM.

DOs 1 – Session 0. Here is a link to a full episode we did no just this topic  2 – Setting the Scene 3 – Roll Fewer Skill checks 4 – Talk Less 5 – Let the players describe success and failures. 6 – Pay attention to what the players are doing, it’s what they want to do. 7 – Make the cool/ fun stuff just as easy at the regular stuff 8 – Steal the player’s ideas 9 – Almost always say yes! 10 –  Resource the Table DONTs 1 – Don’t run if you’re not up to it. 2 – Don’t forget your lines and veils 3 – Don’t dictate what a PC feels or does. 4 – Don’t try to fix out of game issues with in-game solutions 5 – Don’t plan solutions, prep situations. 6 –  Don’t be afraid to call a time out. 7 – Don’t be afraid to let your PCs win easily, sometimes. 8 – Don’t be afraid to be up front with your Strengths and Weaknesses 9 – Don’t take the game too seriously 10 – Don’t have unreasonable expectations.

Hello and welcome to the Trial of Threadbare the RPG by Stephanie Bryant. Threadbare is powered by the Apocalypse game where you play a broken toy in a broken world.  For this game we have the game’s lead designer, Stephanie Bryant as our GM and for players we have:

Michael (@therpgacademy) playing Handlin, a collection of finger puppets.

Liisa Lee (@Liisabelle) playing Princess Petunia a soft doll

Taylor LaBresh (@Leviathanfiles) playing Mega, a gift shop prehistoric stag.

Threadbare is a light game where fighting is the last option and friendship is the most powerful magic you can wield.

In this first episode, Stephanie goes over the rules and playbook and we do some character and game world creation by making choices prompted by Stephanie’s questions.

Hello Academaniacs! Welcome to Detention!

In this episode I am joined by Chris Hussey.

As usual, these episodes are a little more rough around the edges, with less editing to reflect a more conversational tone. They also include more of the tangents, bad jokes, and adult language that we tend to use when we’re hanging out and having fun.

Detention LIVE is the new weekly LIVE talk show format podcast from The RPG Academy.

Extra curricular is where the hosts discuss things happening outside of their RPG lives.

10 Things – Improv game

Used Books – looking back at a past campaign – what can we learn from it?

Where have my finger’s been – Improv game
