Megan’s story of disease to wellness is so inspiring! She grew up with many health challenges. She was in and out of hospitals her whole childhood while she experienced cancer, PCOS and the first signs of diabetes. She eventually healed her PCOS, dropped 60 pounds and became fertile after just 6 months of fasting just 1 or 2 or 3 days a week. Her interest in medical research at a very young age led her to meet Dr. Jason Fung who is a leading doctor in kidney disease and fasting. Fasting has helped Megan's and Dr. Fung’s patients have huge turnarounds not only in their weight but also reversing diabetes and kidney disease. Tips: Stop snacking! Don’t eat late at night, try a fast! “When I started fasting I started feeling really good on my fasting days and was feeling terrible on my eating days. That was my motivation to change what I was eating on my eating days.” “I used to carry around my lab test results that had my diabetes diagnosis and I would be out with friends. They would all be ordering pizza, pasta, or french fries and I’d want it so bad, I would pull out my test results and that would motivate me.” “It’s amazing how you lose complete desire to eat when you just distract yourself and doing something else when you are fasting. My clients come back and say “well that was really easy! I feel silly that I thought it would be so hard.” ASK MEGAN RAMOS What are you working on with yourself right now? Self-care and stress management. More meditating. Do you have a favorite food or supplement that you can’t live without? I love oysters. I love the way they make me feel and are packed with great nutrients. I personally am still healing my gut. I don’t think I absorb magnesium from food very well. So I do a lot of Epsom salt baths. I find that it calms me and energizes me. And the sun! Vitamin D is so important. What are you working on right now? Teaching clients stress management and learning more about how stress impacts the body. What do you think you were put on this earth to do? Help people. I just try to be really encouraging to our patients. My biggest thing is to create a safe space for people. What homework can our listeners take away? Please stop snacking! Go back to basics and eat meals at meal times. Really try to avoid eating right before bed. I’ve seen this transform people in really miraculous ways.
