Speak Truth to the Lies
In this solo episode, Lisa talks about realizing she was speaking lies over her life instead of the truth of the Gospel. She steps through three questions to help you identify your internal dialogue, evaluate that by the Gospel, and then apply the truth of the Bible to the lies you are telling yourself. Things the Bible Actually Doesn't Say
This is the first of two parts where we tackle some common conservative narratives about gender that aren't actually in the Bible. This week we tackle the myths that men are supposed to keep women in line, that men and woman always view each other sexually, and that husbands are called to lead their wives. (Don't freak out until you listen in, ok?) We'll finish up this conversation next week. The article that started this whole thing. NPR article about Patterson. What about that Quiet Time?
Did you know that the Bible doesn't talk about having a quiet time? So where does this phrase come from? Is this practice foundational to Christianity? In this solo episode, Phylicia digs into the history of the "quiet time." She explores what the morning watch was and how it emphasized intercessory prayer. Then she discusses how we can approach our time with God with the intent to know God and go about His mission in our days. The Whys and Why Nots of Modesty
This week, we are tackling the subject of modesty! The first thing we discuss is why we both hate the word "modesty" and the words we prefer instead. Then we move right on to four reasons modesty matters: -how we dress should reflect that we are set apart -we are dressing the temple of God -dressing well is a form of self-respect -how we dress reflects our heart toward God And we also chat about three things modesty is not: -it's not a safeguard for men's purity -it's not a list of rules -it's not a measuring stick for other women Then to round out the episode we discuss how we are preparing to approach this volatile issue with our kids since Lisa has all boys and Phylicia only has girls. We also give a special shoutout to one of our favorite marriage/sex bloggers Sheila Gregoire! Insecurity and Female Relationships
To start off the New Year we are discussing how to deal with personal insecurities when interacting with other females. There's nothing like a talented, beautiful acquaintance to remind us of all the things that we aren't. But we don't have to live there. Listen in for four tips on interacting with other women. Be a "there you are" person. Don't worry if other people like you; concern yourself only with honoring God. Other people don't think about you as often as you think. Be interested, not interesting. When We Admit We're Not Feminists...Or Are We?
In this week's episode, we're discussing feminism. But before we jump into that, we both share our favorite "girl power" song. The genres do not match the geographical location of each woman, you've been warned. Next we jump into the history of feminism, the definition of feminism, and what feminism is now. Then we move on to the big topic: why do Christian women join up with feminism? Complementarian or Egalitarian?
We could have titled this episode a lot of things: What We Believe about the Genders or Why Women Work or What's Up with Spiritual Headship? You get the point, but we haven't answered the question, have we? Since we answer this question in about two minutes, let us relieve the suspense. We're neither complementarian nor egalitarian and we spend this whole episode telling you why. We cover our largest complaint with complementarianism (that would end our journey even if we agreed with the rest of it) and then outline what we believe about how the genders are alike, why women are commissioned to work too, and where the genders are different. A Biblical Approach to Birth
What does the Bible really say about birth? In this first solo episode, Phylicia tackles Genesis 3 and how Christians should approach birth and babies. New Age ideology dominates the birth conversation largely because the church has been silent besides to terrify women with whispers of "their curse." But man was cursed too, right? There is a promised Redeemer that comes through childbirth and that knowledge affects how we view birth today. -God designed our bodies to work this way. It is largely complicated by the fall but still on the framework of God's beautiful design. -We live in a world unaccustomed to discomfort or suffering. But God never leaves us even when things are hard. A Biblical attitude toward birth matters. Uniquely Woman Instagram Delighting in My Days Instagram, Facebook Phylicia Delta Blog Instagram, Facebook

The Story of the Curses
For 2018, we're introducing a few changes! There's new podcast art and a new tagline: inviting women to Biblically challenge the status quo. We're going to dive into some deep subjects where we might have answers or we might be asking questions, but all with the hopes of helping us all better live out our faith. To kick this off, we're diving into the subject of Eve's curse. Was Eve cursed? We say no. First we discuss what was cursed and how Jesus' sacrifice on the cross took all of the curse for sin from people. We're disturbing some theological truths to claim otherwise. Then we tackle explaining why the added pain in birth wasn't even punishment using the narrative of women and babies in the Bible, the character of God, and the actual conversation in Genesis 3. We also discuss how having a Biblical perspective on childbirth is necessary for a pro-life stance. It's really hard to convince women that God has blessed them with a child when you're also saying that God is simultaneously cursing them. Next week, we'll wrap up this topic with some more conversation on curses (you know you're excited) and why women are also commissioned to work. Welcome to 2018! Where Conservatives Go Wrong
This week we are tackling an issue that plagues conservative circles: basing worldviews on a reaction to the world instead of on what the Bible says. We provide a few examples of this, such as holding motherhood as the highest calling of women, viewing women as objects of sexual temptation instead of humans made in the image of God, and advancing courtship as the answer to hookup culture. But not to worry, we also discuss the answer. We don't have a five-step program that fixes all the problem but we do remind you that your personal theology matters. Get in the Word, know what it says, and build your worldview on that. Uniquely Woman Instagram Delighting in My Days Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Phylicia Delta Blog Instagram, Facebook

How to Move from Singleness to Marriage
This week we are answering a listener question. No, it's not a mini episode because we're tackling how to move from singleness to marriage. Clear communication: have open and continual conversations Self-Denial: life is not about you Understanding what marriage is: the goal is for your husband to serve God better Honesty about expectations: your husband can't read your mind Grace for growing: a difficult season in marriage doesn't mean it's over Uniquely Woman Instagram Delighting in My Days Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Phylicia Delta Blog Instagram, Facebook

Going Deeper in Friendships
Today, we're tackling the next episode in our friendship series and discussing both how to prepare your heart for deeper friendships as well as how to keep the bonds of those friendships strong. We women long for friendships but in so many seasons of life they seem beyond our grasp. Preparing your heart You won't be close to everyone; some people won't even like you You are made for friendship but friendships can't validate you Deeper friendships take time to develop Peel yourself off in layers as relationships develop; don't dump on someone all at once Point each other to Jesus; be able to point out sin or problem areas with love Pray: for good friends, to be a good friend, for your friends Strengthening friendships Find ways to relate even when you are different Be open to new ideas and recommendations Ask for advice Listen Spend time in person/Facetime regularly (it helps to hear her voice) Only speak well of each other Uniquely Woman Instagram Delighting in My Days Instagram, Twitter, Facebook Phylicia Delta Blog Instagram, Facebook
