Nature vs Narcissism is a true crime/comedy podcast based in Cincinnati, Ohio where Heather and her guests discuss true crimes and the narcissists who commit them. Sometimes we have alcohol and sometimes things get weird. In Season 1, we went down the alphabet focusing on different murderers and/or stupid criminals based on their name. For example; Episode 1 examines two notorious murderers whose names begin with the letter A. Season 2 we will go down the alphabet focusing on different serial killers/spree killers/murderers who were from or committed most of their crimes in cities/towns with each respective letter of the alphabet. For example, we may focus on someone from Cincinnati, Ohio for the letter C. Every episode is different and every episode is entertaining! We will delve into whether we think nature made the criminals commit these heinous acts, or if it's simply their narcissism getting the best of them. Keep in mind, this podcast is strictly for entertainment purposes and is in no way a professional diagnosis of the subjects discussed.

HEATHER IS FANGIRLING!!!  In this episode, Heather invites Nick and Jessa from the Getting Off Podcast to discuss everyone’s eye candy serial killer; aka the Lady Killer, Ted Bundy.  Although the Nature vs Narcissism Podcast has covered Ted Bundy in the past (Episode 2), we thought it would be fun to discuss Ted with folks who understand and are a part of the criminal justice system.  Since Nick and Jessa are defense attorneys, we thought it would be fun to do a crossover episode where they break down the Chi Omega trial and share their expert opinions as well as their personal thoughts on the case as a whole!  We have a blast and learn a lot about Jessa’s ‘wayward youth’, as Nick describes it!  This episode was a blast and I learned a lot in Part 2; which is over on the Getting Off feed.  You will probably learn a lot and may have even acquitted him if you knew what we now know about the case and evidence!!  Be sure to check out Frozen Truth as a new season will be airing on June 24th! After the two-part topic for M (Moms who Murder), we thought it would be interesting to cover a case that invloved children who murder.  Of course, one of the first cases that popped into my brain was the James Bulger case.  I collaborate with Warbaby from the Murderous Minors: Killer Kids Podcast to break down this case and discuss some of the fascinating details surrounding it.  Join us for the ride and be aware that this is not for the faint of heart.  Two children abducted, beat, and killed another young child in this case.  Robert Thompson and Jon Venebles were ruthless, heartless, and methodical in their scheme. We thought the perfect release date would be today, February 12, 2018 as it is the anniversary of baby James' brutal murder.Promos in this episode:Murderous Minors: Killer KidsThe Fiercely Altered Perspective Podcast - COMING MARCH 2018!

Rank #4: I (Indianapolis, indiana) Pt1: Herbert Baumeister

Podcast cover
Read more
In this episode, Heather is joined by Danielle from Hoosier Homicide to discuss Herbert Baumeister. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1947 and died after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in 1996. He was on the run from police who were searching his 18-acre farm for bodies of his victims – of which they found at least 11. Now, it is debated as to whether or not he killed more than 11 and to this day, he is not technically considered a confirmed serial killer as police were never able to prove it AND he killed himself before being apprehended. His victim type was young homosexual men whom he would pick up from gay bars and take to his mansion where he would have sex with them (often using auto erotic asphyxiation to pleasure himself) and then (presumably) kill and dispose of their bodies.

This is our first VIP Patron co-hosted episode! Valerie has been at the VIP status on Patreon since we launched and we couldn’t be more thankful for her! One of the perks of being a $10 or $20 Patron is to choose a killer/topic and/or co-host the episode with us...so, thanks to Valerie; we’re discussing Nathanial White from Hudson Valley, NY.

Nathanial White is responsible for the murders of 5 women and 1 14-year-old girl during a 16-month span between 1991 and 1992. He would sexually assault, strangle, and stab his victims before dumping them. His victims, not unlike the Honolulu Strangler’s victims, varied in age and background (14-34 years old). His victims were Juliana Frank (29 years old), Laurette D. Reviere Huggins (34 years old), Adriane Hunter (27 years old), Angelina Hopkins (23 years old), Angelina Hopkins (23 years old), Christine Marie Klebbe (14 years old), and Brenda Whiteside (20 years old).

Rank #8: H (Honolulu, Hawaii) Honolulu Strangler

Podcast cover
Read more
The Hololulu Strangler is responsible for the murders of 5 women between 1985 and 1986. He has yet to be caught. All victims were found with their hands bound behind their backs
sexually assaulted, strangled, but they varied in age and background (17-36 years old). His victims were Vicki Gail Purdy (25), Regina Sakamoto (17), Denise Hughes (21), Louise Medeiros (25), and Linda Pesce (36). Police thought for sure that they had their guy, but circumstantial evidence wasn't enough to hold him. This suspect ended up moving to California and died in 2005. None of these cases have ever been solved AND after some more digging/investigating for the production of a true crime show last year; there may have been at least one more victim from 1982. Additionally, the police may have had their killer, had DNA testing been an option in 1986.

Rank #9: G (Green River, Washington) Gary Ridgway AKA Green River Killer

Podcast cover
Read more

Small disclaimer - I tried to make a water sound in the intro...didn’t work out the best - oops! Oh well, it’s only a few seconds long!

In this episode, Heather is joined again by the one and only Scott Fuller to discuss a serial killer from the Green River, Washington area. This is a killer that Heather has NEVER looked up until now. Not too sure why, other than the fact that she felt as though he was way overdone in the True Crime genre and perhaps not too fascinating. However, Scott has a way of providing information and details that will pull someone in and that’s exactly what he did here!

Gary Leon Ridgway was born on February 18, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is responsible for at least 49 murders of teenage runaways and female sex workers from 1982 until 2001 – most of these murders occurring between 1982 and 1984 though. Gary aka “The Green River Killer” has confessed to at least 71 murders but said that there very well could be more but he lost count. He is currently sitting in a cell at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla and serving 48 life sentences plus 480 years.

In this episode, Courtney is back with another history-filled case involving a midwife who committed a TON of infanticide. Miyuki Ishikawa was born in 1897 and is believed to have murdered somewhere between 85 and 169 infants with the help of accomplices throughout the 1940s in Tokyo, Japan. Her sentence behind bars was a mere 4 years, which is quite light considering that her death toll is higher than any other serial killer in Japan.

In this episode, Heather covers Paul Michael Stephani (aka the Weepy-Voiced Killer) and Rachelle covers Philip Markoff (aka the Craigslist Killer).  Paul had a tendency to call the cops on himself after killing his victims.  He had so much guilt and remorse that he would call, while crying/weeping, to inform the police that he had killed his victim and he didn't know why/couldn't stop.  His track record was terrible as two of his five victims survived (good for them), but that is what eventually led to his capture.  As for Philip, he was the epitomy of every parent's dream child.  He was in sports, clubs, and attending med school.  He was engaged and already planned the wedding with his fiance.  Everything seemed to be nothing short of perfect.  That is until, he and his fiance were on their way to the casino one day when they were pulled over and Philip was taken into custody.  For what, you ask?  Luring women from Craigslist ads to hotel rooms where he would rob and kill them.   Don't forget to send us your questions for our Q&A episode!!!   Shout outs:Dark DivideBig ConversationsNature of the Beast  Off the CuffsFind us on all the things:@naturevsnarcissism (Instagram)@NvsNpodcast (Twitter)@naturevsnarcissism (Facebook)Nature vs Narcissism Facebook Discussion GroupBUY COOL SHIT:https://naturevsnarcissism.threadless.com/Don’t forget to rate, review, and subscribe!

Day 22 - December 22 (Ronald Gene Simmons Sr. Annihilates his Family)

Podcast cover

December 22 - December 28, 1987
Dover and Russellville, Arkansas
Over the course of a one week period, Ronald Gene Simmons Sr. murdered a total of 16 people.
Most of whom (14 to be exact) were his own family members...but police didn't know that he had killed his own family until they attempted to contact them on December 28, 1987 AFTER he had killed 2 and wounded 4 others in a 45 minute rampage around town...
When it was his time, he welcomed death with open arms...
This killing spree has been described as the worst mass murder in Arkansas history and the worst crime involving one family in the history of the country.

What do you think about this case? Pretty messed up, right? Do you think he killed his entire family because he couldn't take the pressure or the guilty conscience of what he did to his daughter?

FIRST OFF; HAPPY FUCKING BIRTHDAY TO BRITTANY!!! I love you so much, lady! I am so happy to have you in my life and so lucky to have met you when I did!
Thank you so much for all of your research and help on this episode!
-----
In this episode, Heather is joined by the awesome Brittany to discuss two brothers who ended up becoming serial killers...BUT at different times in their lives.
During their childhood years, the brothers were pretty close to one another. Later in life (I believe while in jail) Danny was quoted saying that Larry was quote "the only companion I had most of my life."
The events began in 1964 when 19-year-old Larry killed his first victim. He ended up confessing to five murders in total...but tried for just one. He then received a second trial but turned it down and decided to go with his original sentence of life in prison.
Danny, on the other hand, made headlines during Larry's retrial when he was charged with a string of murders in 1973.
There were many differences between their victims, their MOs, and potentially their reasons for killing.
The Ranes brothers are not discussed nearly enough in the true crime world.
