#14: Fueling Your Potential: A Chat with Monique Walker

This episode is all about "Fueling Your Potential". I had the honor of interviewing my cousin, Monique Walker. She is a middle school English-Language Arts teacher in Orange, NJ who is passionate about her students seeing their potential. This passion stems from her own experience of someone speaking negatively into her potential as a young girl.Monique discusses how one of her high school teachers told her that her dream of being a lawyer was good, but that she should probably aim for something less. She started acting out and was then labeled as a rebel child. She ended up not walking at her high school graduation. She decided to go into education to help fuel kids' potential. Now, after 17 years in education, Monique is making a HUGE impact in the lives of kids.Be encouraged today, regardless of where you are in your journey, fuel your potential. You are "you". You are not the hats you wear. Taking care of yourself and investing in yourself is healthy when it comes to fueling your potential. Also, your community fuels your potential. Surround yourself with people who are going to encourage you. Let this include people who are a season ahead of you. Having older people around you gives you a different perspective and gives you access to wisdom that you need. Monique discusses the importance of prayer and leaning into God's plans for your life. We unpack the fact that when we don't follow God's plans for our lives, we miss out and the people we are called to reach miss out. Monique ends the podcast talking about growth.
