Funny podcast where the hosts get along well and provide diverse opinions. I feel like lately there have been some volume issues where the volume goes up and down randomly.

Further discussion: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is majestic

What we’re into: Nier: Automata is weird and great

The Nintendo Switch is officially in the wild and we spent the past weekend putting it through its paces. Spoilers: we like it a lot! We run through our experiences and the handful of launch games we’ve gotten a chance to play, including Snipperclips, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, Blaster Master Zero, and Super Bomberman R. And, oh yeah, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is great. We also discuss Nier: Automata, the bizarre, fourth wall-breaking, genre-bending RPG from Platinum Games and Square Enix’s enigmatic designer Yoko Taro.

The Big Topic: Spoiling Resident Evil 7, Final Fantasy 15, and The Last Guardian

Further Discussion: E3 is officially open to the public

What we’re into: Horizon: Zero Dawn’s big, beautiful open world

To the victor go the spoils. Er, spoilers. This joke made more sense in my head. ANYWAY. 2017’s video game onslaught continues apace, as David dives right into Horizon: Zero Dawn’s sprawling ‘post-post-apocalyptic’ world and talks about its magnificent, um, horizons. We also talk about E3’s recent, seemingly inevitable decision to allow the general to attend the world’s biggest video game conference, and what that means for the industry. And by popular request, we talk spoilers in the first of (hopefully) many spoilercasts, chatting about what makes the final hours of Resident Evil 7, Final Fantasy 15, and The Last Guardian so great.

The Big Topic: You oughta Nioh

Further Discussion: Hands on with Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Breath of the Wild and more.

What we’re into: Gorogoa and What Became of Edith Finch amaze at PAX South.

Impossible things are happening every week in 2017. Last week it was a legitimately great new Resident Evil game, and this week it’s the return of Team Ninja with Nioh. Fans of Dark Souls and Bloodborne may love the new action RPG–with some reservations as described by Lucas Sullivan–but fans of Ninja Gaiden Black will just be happy to see the studio making a well executed action game again. After that, we hear from Dave Roberts about a huge swath of playable Nintendo Switch games including Mario Kart 8, Has Been Heroes, Zelda, and 1-2-Switch. Finally, Susan Arendt walk us through surreal adventure game What Became of Edith Finch and the decade-in-the-making puzzler Gorogoa.

What we’re into: Quick hits for January games

We are not a Wild Wild West podcast, despite how this episode starts out. We are a video game podcast. And there are lots of those to talk about. Anthony and David try to explain what makes Yakuza 0 special to Sam and Susan. It gets weird. We also talk about Resident Evil 7 and our own connections to the series. What we’re into: Endings that stick the landing

Ten years and a change in directors, platforms, and title later, and Final Fantasy 15 is finally out and ready for the world. It’s kind of a mess, but it’s a beautiful mess, and we explain why it’s such an enchanting game to play, even when its story doesn’t hold up under any amount of scrutiny. We also head back into No Man’s Sky with an investigation of its latest update – it fixes a lot of the biggest problems, but is it enough? Last, we talk about Dishonored 2 (again) and how its ending chapters leave a little to be desired. We also talk about some of our favorite video game endings, and what makes them so impactful, even now. Spoilers, obvs.

What we’re into: The forgotten games of the past ten months

That sound you hear? That low hum growing in explosive crescendo until finally landing with a loud thud? That’s the sound of the holiday season rapidly approaching – and, interestingly enough, the same sound as a giant mech falling from the sky. We take a good long while exploring what makes Titanfall 2’s campaign so special – especially when its multiplayer seems to have left us feeling cold. Games covered this week: Pokemon Go, NES Classic Edition, I Am Setsuna

Over the past two weeks, Nintendo’s taken the world by storm, once again proving that humanity’s thirst for tiny cartoon monsters and jumping plumbers remains insatiable. The GamesRadar+ crew deftly avoids walking into traffic to discuss the cultural phenomenon that is Pokemon Go, as well as the surprise announcement of the NES Classic Edition – a miniature version of the Nintendo’s first console with 30 games stored inside. We also talk about how Sony isn’t doing enough to preserve its back catalog, and we share the games you should play before they get too hard to find. We also take a few minutes to talk about whether or not Zelda’s timeline is necessary. (Spoiler: no, it’s not)

RadioRadar+ Podcast 66: Nioh nails it and we played many Nintendo Switch games

RadioRadar+ Podcast 65: Resident Evil 7 is that damn good

Podcast cover

The Big Topic: Reeling from the resurrection of good Resident Evil.

Further Discussion: Did you know that Dragon Quest 8 is an amazing game? Also: here’s what’s up at PAX South.

What we’re into: Seriously. Dragon Quest 8 and Resident Evil 7 are good.

The impossible has happened: Capcom has made a big budget game that feels like a bold piece of the future rather than an exercise in high quality but still old ideas. This isn’t the Capcom that botched Street Fighter 5’s single-player options and online matchmaking. The Capcom that made Resident Evil 7 is the Capcom of old, making a horror game aware of and practiced in tradition but bold in its new risks. When we’re done gushing about 2017 survival horror, we turn our eyes to the pleasures of PAX South and Dragon Quest 8, newly remade for Nintendo 3DS.

The Big Topic: Yakuza 0’s brazen weirdness

Further Discussion: Our relationship to the Resident Evil series

What we’re into: Quick hits for January games

We are not a Wild Wild West podcast, despite how this episode starts out. We are a video game podcast. And there are lots of those to talk about. Anthony and David try to explain what makes Yakuza 0 special to Sam and Susan. It gets weird. We also talk about Resident Evil 7 and our own connections to the series. We close the show with some quick hits for other January games that may have flown under your radar.

RadioRadar+ Podcast 63: The Nintendo Switch is unveiled

The Big Topic: Our thoughts on the Nintendo Switch’s price, tech, and launch lineup.

After a surprisingly strong teaser back in October, all eyes have been on Nintendo and it’s upcoming console/handheld hybrid Switch. Nintendo revealed the price ($299!), the release date (March 3!) and the launch games (Zelda and… a cow milking thing?), and our feelings are… complicated. We spend the entire podcast talking all things Switch, digging into our thoughts about the tech, its lineup of games for 2017, and its potential for success. Oh, and Anthony talks about eating a hat made of butts. It makes sense in context.

The Big Topic: Super Mario Run and the state of mobile games
Further Discussion: The games that inspired us
What we’re into: 2016 still has more games!

This is the last RadioRadar+ for 2016, and we’re so, so sorry for the Paul McCartney references right out of the gate. But if you stick with today’s podcast past that nonsense, you’ll find some delightful discussion of the last few big games of the year. Nintendo’s Super Mario Run is taking mobile by storm, and we all think it’s varying degrees of ‘fine’. We take some time to answer a reader question, and chat about the games that inspired us to see games as more than just a thing that sucks up our time. And lastly, we’re two weeks away from 2017, and yet there are still games coming out – we talk about a few that are worth seeking out.

The Big Topic: Discussing the state of Star Wars before Rogue One.
Further Discussion: Debating the merits of The Last of Us Part 2.
What we’re into: Picking through the best of PSX.

If it seems weird to you guys that there’s already a brand new Star
Wars movie, know this: you’re not alone! This week on the podcast we
search our feelings for what we know to be true about Rogue One, the
first Star Wars spin-off since 1985’s Ewoks: Battle for Endor. (Forgot
about that one, didn’t you. Too bad. It happened.) After that we dig
into the biggest announcements at PSX, including an extended
discussion about The Last of Us Part 2.

The Big Topic: The Game Awards let us look at Death Stranding, Mass
Effect Andromeda, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Further Discussion: Finally playing The Last Guardian
What we’re into: Fighting about Prince of Persia 2008

It’s not the best awards show of all time, but at least it’s
something! The Game Awards came and went, and while we didn’t actually
see many awards given on stage we did at least get a fresh look at a
number of anticipated games. Kojima tore our minds apart with a new
Death Stranding trailer, we wonder if BioWare will ever make us flip
out again after a tepid Mass Effect Andromeda showing, and and we
marvel at the latest peak at Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Finally we
close with early impressions of The Last Guardian and reopen the
debate on whether or not Prince of Persia 2008 is any good.

The Big Topic: Final Fantasy 15 is here, and it’s great
Further Discussion: No Man’s Sky’s latest patch

We open with another (slightly spoilery) dive into Dishonored 2 and its incredible level design. We also played a little bit of Watch Dogs 2 and… actually liked it? Weird. Fix you sound levels for christ's sake. Half the time I have to turn it up to hear one person, but then get blown out a minute later by someone else.

Good fun podcast

Funny podcast where the hosts get along well and provide diverse opinions. I feel like lately there have been some volume issues where the volume goes up and down randomly.
