So you have bought Amazon or your local sports store out of fitness equipment and built the perfect or near perfect home gym, you have also downloaded the latest app from your fav “Fitspo” and maybe even got yourself some new workout kit. Week one was all good as you jumped into Zoom classes, shared your workouts with your friends and posted rampantly on your social media about this new way of staying fit. Who knows what happened next but something did and suddenly you are not super motivated to get out of bed first thing in the morning to workout in your living room, or does it just get late in the day too fast and before you can get your workout in Netflix is rolling? Any of this resonating? I try and help you out with a few thinking points and solutions in todays show. Enjoy. Marcus

There are however some guidelines that I share, some things to think about and certainly some things that you should not be doing. The most important factor here is that yes, the times that you eat and the frequency could have a massive impact on your performance in life. The second most important thing is to figure it out! I found John Lindsey through the good old trusted Instagram and was immediately intrigued as to the positions he was able to get his body into. Of course my immediate thoughts were that John was just “one of those guys” who was hyper mobile. Of course I stalked him a little bit and quickly found a piece on his site that said "In grad school my body was broken; I couldn’t touch my toes, squat past parallel, and I’d have back pain after most workouts." I knew I had to get John on the show! In this show we talk about mobility but more than that we talk about John’s journey and things that you and I can learn from it. John isn’t asking everyone to be made from rubber but what he is advising people to do is just spend a little bit of time on their body each day as the title suggests. Podcast cover
Read more
[9:08 AM, 11/26/2020] Nadisha DSouza : Ben Smith is 27 years old, has represented Great Britain in triathlon and follows a number of endurance sports. What he also follows is meditation and a desire to help others. In Ben’s words: "My passion in life is personal growth and aiding others to progress in their own passions and endeavours. Im obsessed with it. Im a big believer in creating a bullet proof mind through shear hard work, getting uncomfortable and also Meditation. I want to get more people meditating, especially younger people. My goal is to remove the stigma behind it and get it out there. Its not just a small beneficial practice that might help some people - its a real life changing practice that effects endless areas of your life and with so many people suffering now mentally we need to do something and take action to prevent it getting worse. From my perspective it helped me as an athlete to progress way further than I initially thought id go and for other athletes out there - it would absolutely do the same for them too. Meditation is a must. Many give up early with it because its ‘too hard’ or they ‘cant quieten their minds’. But this has to be overcome. A good teacher will help, which is where I come in.” Ben talks us through his journey and shares some useful insights into meditation that we can all learn. #675: Developing an Ultra Mindset

Podcast cover
Read more
What do we do when we can’t figure things out? What do we do when things get hard in life physically or mentally? Some of us deny it’s happening and try and continue as normal. Others give up. Neither seem to solve the issues we face. To get through, keep going and reach our goals we must have a solid decision making process, a formula for success……welcome to the ultra mindset! I was not dissimilar to the two options above in that when I came across adversity I would try and black it out, pretend it was not happening or in a way just give up thinking that “it’s not for me”. When I entered my first ultra and failed I knew this mindset had to change so I went on a journey to figure out a decision making process that would help me in tough situations in many areas of life. I share the process in this show in the Ultra Mindset. I hope it’s useful for you. No Weakness. Marcus Insta: What do we do when we can’t figure things out? At what point do you progress? When is a certain weight too light and it’s time to move on? When should a 5km running goal become a 10km running goal? These are often tough questions and getting the answer wrong can have some seriously negative effects on our motivation and many other things in life. As kids we are told to dream big but when we dream too big we get told to slow down so perhaps we have been a bit confused since our early days. Over the years I have seen people hurt from trying to lift weights that they are not ready for and motivation shattered from people failing over distances that they have tried to run but of course failed. In this show I serve up a guideline to earning the right in many areas of life. Hope you enjoy it.

My name is Chris Brannigan and Hasti is my daughter, she has just turned 8 years old and she dreams of being a chef and a dancer. Hasti however has a rare genetic disease, Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS). CdLS is characterised by reduced growth, global developmental delay, feeding problems, speech and language difficulties hearing problems and, in many cases, limb abnormalities, but it is rare for children with CdLS to become adults who live independent lives, often needing round the clock care for their entire lives. No cure or treatments exist for this terrible disease which occurs in just one in every 30,000 live births, but we are committed to change that so that all children with CdLS, both now and in the future, can enjoy better lives. But to do that, we need your help. We just need £400,000 to pay for the research to create a treatment for this disease which has already started with the Jackson Laboratory in the United States. The clinical trials that will follow, will cost over £2,000,000. https://www.chop.edu/conditions-diseases/cornelia-de-lange-syndrome Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS) is a genetic condition present at birth. It’s characterized by numerous physical, intellectual and behavioral differences. Children with CdLS usually have low birth weight, are smaller in size and height and have a smaller head circumference (microcephaly). Most also experience developmental delays that range from mild learning disabilities to profound intellectual disabilities. The syndrome takes its name from the Dutch pediatrician who was one of the first to formally describe it, in 1933. It occurs in an estimated 1 in 10,000 live births.
