Best of BAM:Losing a Generation, and QA

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank confesses that he does not like losing, especially when it comes to golf. However, with regard to the Christian faith, this propensity may be virtuous. The church is losing a generation of Christians, which does not bode well for the future of Christianity. Of the 3.7 million US evangelicals between 18 29 years old, 2.6 million will leave the faith and the vast majority will not return. This sobering reality is one of the reasons why CRI is making available the best materials on apologetics, Biblical literacy, and countering the cults. Hank also answers the following questions: What are some tips for Scripture memorization? Can you explain the words of Jesus in Mark 9:49, where He says everyone will be salted with fire? Is the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost the same? If different, is it necessary to have the Holy Ghost to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Who are the sons of God in Genesis 6? I am new to reading the Bible where should I start reading? What is your opinion on the historical relevance of pseudepigraphal texts? Why is Jesus said to have come from the line of Judah instead of the line of Ephraim?

Best of BAM: Biblical and Islamic Eschatology, and Q&A

On today's edition of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank discusses Muslim eschatology, and compares it with Biblical eschatology. For Christians eschatology is the thread that weaves the tapestry of Scripture into a harmonious pattern. While Christians debate various secondary aspects of eschatology, they are united in the truth that Christ will come again. Conversely, Islamic eschatology is alarmingly different. Hank also discusses the resurrection of Jesus Christ, using the "R" in the acronym D-O-C-T-R-I-N-E. Hank also answers the following questions: From an Orthodox perspective, what is your understanding of sin and repentance?I asked my pastor what color Christ was, and he said white. I don't believe that is correct, as He was Jewish. What are your thoughts? Do the scriptures give a physical description of Jesus? What is your take on the issues of post-millennialism, partial, and full preterism?

Best of BAM:The New Heaven and New Earth, and QA

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank shares his thoughts on the new heaven and new earth as described by the Apostle Peter in 2 Peter 310. Rather than an altogether different cosmos, Hank affirms that the heavens and the earth will be resurrected, not annihilated. God does not scrap His creations but restores them; therefore, Paradise lost will become Paradise restored. In light of this, Hank asks the question: if the cosmos and we ourselves will one day be resurrected, how then should we live? Hank also answers the following questions:If Satan would not have tempted Adam and Eve to sin, would he still have been condemned to hell? Will Iran be called Persia someday as spoken about in end time prophecy? Can you give me a better understanding of speaking in tongues? Can you clarify the meaning of the phrase God is love?

Best of BAM:In the Beginning, Big Bang Cosmology, and QA

On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank discusses an article in the Wall Street Journal on a new translation of the Bible by professor Robert Alter. According to Alter, the very first words of the Bible, In the beginning, have long been misconstrued. Thus, Alter alters the words to read, When God began to create the Heavens and the earth instead. This change was made because in his opinion God did not create the universe out of nothing rather he was merely an assembler of elements already in existence. As Hank points out, this is a very old canard. A canard that flies in the very face of big bang cosmology which lends credibility to the biblical contention that God created the universe out of nothing. As such big bang cosmology in concert with the Bible stands in stark opposition to the scientifically silly suggestion that the universe has eternally existed. Hank also answers the following questions In Matthew 16:18 it says the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. What are the gates of Hades? What is your opinion on Calvinism? When the apostles chose Matthias to replace Judas, were they going against God? Should Paul have been chosen instead? When someone passes away, does their spirit go directly to Heaven or Hell, or is there a waiting period before judgment? What are your thoughts on the debate of in whose name are we supposed to baptize

Best of BAM QA: Suicide Roe v. Wade and QA

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank mentions an article on the rise of suicides in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide rates have gone up in every state over the last several years. It is the 10th leading cause of death in America. Some would think that suicide is a secular problem, but the truth of the matter is that suicide is not relegated to any particular segment of society. Hank is frequently asked if suicide is an unforgivable sin, and while it is not unforgivable, it is a direct attack on the sovereignty of the very one who knit us together in our mother’s womb. Hank also shares the Alabama Supreme Court’s decision in the case of Jessie Phillips v. State of Alabama, in which they ruled that the value of the life of an unborn child is no less than the value of the lives of other persons. In a concurring opinion, Justice Tom Parker boldly called on the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.Hank also answers the following questions:What is Universalism? In John 9, why did the disciples think that the man born blind had sinned? Why did Jesus heal the blind man at Bethsaida twice? Was Jesus’ temptation similar to ours? How could that be if he didn’t have the original sin that we were born with?
