Rank #1: Best of BAM: Call of Cosmos St John Chrysostom and QA

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank presents the newest resource available for those that support the ministry of CRI all this month, The Call of the Cosmos: What the Universe Reveals about God, a new film by Illustra Media. This stunning new film points to a cosmic designer with unsurpassed artistry, wisdom, and unfathomable power. It’s hard to believe that anyone who watches this film could walk away unconvinced of a creator, making it must-see viewing for believers and skeptics alike. Hank also shares a sermon from St. John Chrysostom that was sent to him by a dear friend and it has been a balm of Gilead in Hank’s life and he prays that it will be a balm of Gilead in your life as well. Hank also answers the following questions:

Why did Mary give a sin offering if she was without sin?
My prayer group is going to see these so-called modern day apostles. How do I confront them about this?
Does the law of divorce in Deuteronomy 24 apply to us today?

Rank #2: Democratic Socialism, the Coronavirus, and Q&A

Podcast cover

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast from (03/12/20), Hank discusses democratic socialism, a topic brought up by Senator Bernie Sanders, who said recently “when I talk about democratic socialism, I’m not looking at Venezuela. I’m not looking at Cuba. I’m looking at countries like Denmark and Sweden.” Which raises the question, are countries like Denmark and Sweden great examples of the exceptionalism of democratic socialism? No, says Hank. In the second segment of the broadcast, Hank addresses the question of how a good God could create a world in which things can go desperately wrong, a question brought up in light of the current coronavirus pandemic. A common refrain in the 21st century is that religion is the root cause of the great atrocities of human history. But in reality, more people have died as a result of secularist ideologies in the last century alone than have died in all the religiously motivated conflicts of Western history.

Hank also answers the following question:

Why is it that you don’t mention the tens of millions of people murdered by communists?

Rank #3: Best of BAM:Losing a Generation, and QA

Podcast cover
Read more
On todays Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank confesses that he does not like losing, especially when it comes to golf. However, with regard to the Christian faith, this propensity may be virtuous. The church is losing a generation of Christians, which does not bode well for the future of Christianity. Of the 3.7 million US evangelicals between 18 29 years old, 2.6 million will leave the faith and the vast majority will not return. This sobering reality is one of the reasons why CRI is making available the best materials on apologetics, Biblical literacy, and countering the cults. Hank also answers the following questions: What are some tips for Scripture memorization? Can you explain the words of Jesus in Mark 9:49, where He says everyone will be salted with fire? Is the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost the same? If different, is it necessary to have the Holy Ghost to enter the Kingdom of Heaven? Who are the sons of God in Genesis 6? I am new to reading the Bible where should I start reading? What is your opinion on the historical relevance of pseudepigraphal texts? Why is Jesus said to have come from the line of Judah instead of the line of Ephraim?

How can I communicate effectively to other Christians that there will only be one Second Coming, and that the pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine is wrong? I have begun to read the Bible as literature. How do I maintain the understanding that it is inspired scripture?

Rank #5: Darwinian Assumptions, Eugenics, and Abortion

Podcast cover
Read more
On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast from (03/13/20), Hank talks about the Darwinian assumptions that have become such a part of the air we breathe that it is increasingly difficult not to include its broad-ranging assumptions in our everyday rhetoric. Consciously and unconsciously, it seems we are influenced by evolutionary thinking. One example is the collective embrace of eugenics. With the dawn of the twentieth century, eugenics was standard fare in high school biology classes. The logical progression from evolution to eugenics is hardly surprising. What is breathtaking is the vast rapidity with which this baseless theory was embraced by the cultural elite, its supporters ranging from President Theodore Roosevelt to Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger. Those who resisted eugenics were considered backward and ignorant. It wasn’t until the ghastly reality of eugenics reached full bloom in the genocidal mania of German death camps that it vanished quietly into the night. The tragic consequences of the evolutionary dogma that birthed it, however, are yet with us today. Hank also discusses the issue of abortion in the second segment of the broadcast, something that is on the forefront of the battle today for Christians. We ought to be demonstrating just how devastating the effect of abortion is to our civilization.

Hank also answers the following questions:

A Jehovah's Witness I have been sharing with asked two questions: Why has the word Jehovah been taken out of the Bible? Why do Christians commit idolatry by worshipping the cross?
Am I wrong to be troubled by people using the phrase "God is good" when good things are happening? It seems to me that this could cause unbelievers to think that God isn't "always" good.
My wife divorced me 4 years ago. I am I wrong to maintain hope that we can be reconciled?
I am doing a study on Genesis 6:1-6, and interpret the Sons of God as "righteous" human beings, and the Daughters of Men as the unrighteous offspring of Cain. Am I correct in this?

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast from (02/26/20), Hank lists some reasons why the mark of the beast cannot be a silicon microchip because there are so many people with so many conspiracy theories in the Christian world about this topic that he needs to set the record straight. In addition, Hank mentions three things to consider when identifying the 144,000 that are referenced in Revelation chapter 7, a question that we have received many times on the Bible Answer Man broadcast and through our various ministry outreaches.

Hank also answers the following questions:

I joined an Orthodox group online and they were talking about toll houses; can you help me understand them more clearly?
I ran across a program called Getting To Know Your Bible by Billy Lambert, who is an Elder at the Summerdale Church of Christ. Is this an independent branch of the Church of Christ?

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast (03/03/20), Hank discusses the film Fragments of Truth, focusing on the outrageous statements made about the Bible by college professors like Bart Ehrman. In Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why Ehrman alleges mistakes and changes that ancient scribes made to the New Testament and claims that they had a very significant impact on modern Bibles. Says Ehrman, “The more I studied the manuscript tradition of the New Testament, the more I realized just how radically the text had been altered over the years at the hands of scribes.” Scribes he impugns with anti-Semitic motives. But Hank counters this ridiculous claim and shows why it does not correspond to reality.

Hank also answers the following questions:

Is masturbation permissible for me since I’m too old to reproduce and I only think of my ex-wife? Where do I stand with God on that?

On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast from (03/30/20), Hank discusses an article in The Wall Street Journal titled “How Epidemics Change Civilizations” by Jason Willick. Hank shares seven insights he gleaned from the article, the last three of which he believes are the most poignant. The most important of all the insights Hank gleaned is the need for repentance. Throughout history, many nations have prayed for the mercy of God—including America. In the midst of the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln called on all Americans to participate in a national day of humiliation, fasting, prayer, and repentance.

Hank also answers the following questions:

Is a person’s forgiveness in Christ dependent on whether they make amends for sin, irrespective of whether the sin is known or unknown by those sinned against?
Can you explain the verse that talks about the earth groans and travails?

Rank #19: What Must We Do To Be Saved, Pin the Tail on the Antichrist, and Q&A

Podcast cover
Read more
On today’s Bible Answer Man broadcast from (04/27/20), Hank brings up the most important question that you can ever ask yourself: “What must I do to be saved?” It is precisely the question asked by the Philippian jailer in Acts chapter 16. Paul and Silas responded by saying, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” After hearing the word of the Lord, the jailer believed and was baptized. Salvation is not static but active. Not punctiliar but a process. Not merely a decision but a decided way of living—a way of living by which we are transformed from glory to glory. Salvation is a lifetime journey replete with ebbs and flows. Yet we can rightly praise God for the confidence that “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” Hank also deals with an issue that is coming up more and more frequently as people are involved in a game called “Pin the Tail on the Antichrist” where people—particularly in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic—are looking to see if they can determine who the antichrist is.

Hank also answers the following question:

Why are all good deeds done by non-believers meaningless to God?

Rank #20: Best of BAM: Biblical and Islamic Eschatology, and Q&A

Podcast cover
Read more
On today's edition of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, Hank discusses Muslim eschatology, and compares it with Biblical eschatology. For Christians eschatology is the thread that weaves the tapestry of Scripture into a harmonious pattern. While Christians debate various secondary aspects of eschatology, they are united in the truth that Christ will come again. Conversely, Islamic eschatology is alarmingly different. Hank also discusses the resurrection of Jesus Christ, using the "R" in the acronym D-O-C-T-R-I-N-E.

Hank also answers the following questions:

From an Orthodox perspective, what is your understanding of sin and repentance?
I asked my pastor what color Christ was, and he said white. I don't believe that is correct, as He was Jewish. What are your thoughts? Do the scriptures give a physical description of Jesus?
What is your take on the issues of post-millennialism, partial, and full preterism?
