Politics and culture through an intersectional queer lens. In a post-marriage equality world, the LGBT community is moving into uncharted territory. With an eye on how queer identity intersects with race, gender and all of our other identities, we’re having conversations at the crossroads of queerness and the contemporary world.
Rank #1: The Fight Is Everywhere.
Happy Pride Month! On this episode, The fight is everywhere. We talk about homophobia in unlikely places, why it's not ok to just be not-homophobic, and the challenges of making change.
Rank #2: LGBTQIA+, or How I Learned to Stop Marginalizing and Love the Acronym.
This week, we're inspired by John Paul Brammer's "¡Hola Papi!" column for Out.com. We dig into why we all gotta love the LGBTQIA+ acronym, and why our individual liberation is all about the liberation of the queer folks (and others!) around us. This one's all about what we owe each other.Article Link: https://www.out.com/lifestyle/2019/5/07/apparently-there-are-too-many-letters-lgbtq-acronymJohn Paul Brammer: http://www.johnpaulbrammer.comTwitter: @jpbrammer

Rank #2: S4 E1 Why Are Young Gay Guys Such Dickwads ?.
The first episode of Season 4 comes via an email I received from a very nice gentleman in Australia. It has prompted a discussion on why young gay guys are so unkind and mean. As always, this is based on my opinions and my experience. I hope it can prompt some thoughts. The Vintage TV Trivia Question of the week is a fun reflection on The Dick Van Dyke Show from the 1960's.I am looking for guests for this season. If you feel you have a story to tell that relates to the older gay community, please contact me and let me know you'd like to come on. It is a pre-recorded interview that can be edited, so please have no fears about doing the show. It will be fun and relaxing. Contact me via: AnOlderGayGuyShow@gmail.com

Featuring lively discussion of the latest legal news affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community here and abroad. Interviews with LGBTQ lawyers, policy wonks and activists. Our monthly LGBT Law Notes episode with Professor Art Leonard digs into three of the most important new LGBT civil rights rulings. Eric Lesh, executive director of the LGBT Bar of NY hosts.
Rank #1: Masterpiece Cakeshop: Not the Win We Hoped for, Not the Loss We Feared.
The Supreme Court ruled narrowly against the Colorado Civil Rights Commission in Masterpiece Cakeshop, based on concerns that the original case was not decided “with the religious neutrality that the Constitution requires.” In doing so, the Court also reaffirmed the core American principle that businesses open to the public must be open to all. The unfortunate result of this ruling is that cases like this will continue to be litigated in the courts. In the meantime, LGBT people will have to go about their day to day lives fearing they might be refused service because of who we are. It is important to note that the Supreme Court did not change the long-standing rule that businesses open to the public must be open to all. This ruling was limited to facts specific to this case, and the court importantly did not give businesses the broad right to discriminate that the bakery and the Trump administration sought here. Eric Lesh, Executive Director of the LGBT Bar of NY discusses this case with Professor Art Leonard of New York Law School.
Rank #2: BiLawrriors: All about the B in lgBt. .
Host, Eric Lesh, talks with Nancy Marcus, co-founder of BiLaw and writer for LegallyBi. Sept 19-26 is Bisexual Awareness Week, and Septender 23rd is Bi Visibility Day.On this episode we talk about the nearly five million adults in the U.S. who identify as bisexual. In case you were wondering, bi people actually comprise more than half of the entire LGBT community, yet bi people are often erased from the LGBT movement, our political discourse and even litigation. So today we are going to talk with THE expext in this area, Nancy Marcus. Nancy is an out bi lawyer and LGBT rights activist. She is a co-founder of BiLaw, the national organization for bi lawyers, law professors, law students, and their allies, and is the author of "Bridging Bisexual Erasure in LGBT-Rights Discourse and Litigation." Nancy is a former colleague of mine at Lambda Legal, and she is also a dear friend. After our Podcast conversation, Nancy was so inspired by my nudging her that she should be doing even MORE to help bi-inclusion in LGBT-rights advocacy along (because that's what friends do, nudge each other), she asked me to spread the word to any lawyers out there who want help framing strategically effective bi-inclusive arguments (and, possibly, helping with amicus briefing) that she would love to hear from you at LegallyBiNancy@gmail.com.

Rank #1: Good Gay Hair .
In today’s episode, we’re talking about something that we all have to deal with, learn to manage, and that shapes queer identity. We’re talking about Hair. Good Gay Hair. In queer circles, hair is political. It defines how we want to be seen, where we sit in our queer identity and the ease of which we can navigate the world. I’ve been obsessed with what makes a good gay haircut for the better part of a decade. So what is good gay hair? In my search, I found a place where hair dreams come true. Where amazing stylists will talk hair politics with you. They’ll talk hair health. And about gender expression. And about real-life queer life. LGBT Stories documents the struggles, hardships, questions, joys, eye-openers and more, that many in the LGBTQI community have faced as they've opened up with the public, their families and most importantly themselves about their true identity, the decision to come out and what life is like today for them.We believe that the more society understands marginalized groups of people, the more society can identify with these groups, the more an understanding of the views, emotions, beliefs become apparent, the closer we all become in being truly united.
Rank #1: I Am Bisexual - Michael's Story.
The B in LGBT… Bisexual. Today Michael tells a story of what he says is “…being free from any specific way of loving someone”, bi-sexual. In my opinion, I believe that bi-sexuality is the most thrown around identifier in the acronym LGBT. It’s the one identifier that society is far more accepting of when a woman identifies as so… it is fine, in a way it almost considers “hot, or sexy”. On the other hand, when a man identifies as bi-sexual they get oftentimes labeled as straight-up gay (an very much so in a negative connotation). So while many men who are bi-sexual greatly enjoy male on male sex they are more than often made to be shamed for it, therefore resulting in them remaining closest. That is why I am so pleased to share Michaels story with you today. This podcast is brought to you by Audible. Audible is giving our listeners a special gift.
