Attitude of Gratitude!

Alison, My sister introduced me to your podcast after being shook in the best way by your conversation with Lexie Kite. The message on body image resilience made me laugh, cry, and confront ideas that usually scare the crap out of me. Since then, I’ve been coming back for more, listening to new and old episodes. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and inspiring me with your words and laughter. I’m a recent medical school graduate, and will be keeping your podcast close at hand to help me continue to uncover my awesome as a general surgery resident! Lots of love to you and Eric (who has tunes that always fit the mood and leave me feeling light).

Tried it. Didn’t love it.

I’ve tried this podcast several times but I just can’t get behind it. First of all, the advice doesn’t seem unique to this podcast and I end each episode wondering what the heck I even listened to. It’s hard to find a solid takeaway that’s relevant. Secondly, I can’t get past the valleygirl voice and attitude. Thirdly, i do appreciate your motivation behind the podcast.

Watch out! I’m bringing in the big guns when it comes to learning about how we see and treat our bodies! I knew this was SO NEEDED right this minute, and it’s going to be a life-changer for sure! Get ready to let go of shame and have your mind blown! I’ve got one half of the INCREDIBLE PhD touting twin duo that runs the nonprofit Beauty Redefined, Lexie Kite! And Lexie is helping us (and of course I also mean me) work on how to build body image resilience--and learn what that even means! We’ll talk about how your body is an instrument and not an ornament! I argue with her a bit about my own issues, which of course we work through and I cry. And then we examine how we can pass on healthier ideas to future generations! IT’S SO GOOD! I’m so grateful for the work that Beauty Redefined is doing, it is changing my life and I can’t wait for it to change yours too!

Rank #4: Ep. 59: Life after the tough stuff (trauma and loss) with Ashley Lemieux of The Shine Project

Podcast cover
Read more
The reality of life is that either you, or someone you know is currently living though a trauma or loss. Whether it’s a phone call that someone you love has cancer, the death of a loved one, a divorce, a betrayal, the loss of a job, a physical injury…the LIST GOES ON…what do you do? What does life look like the week after, six months after, a year after? How do you help someone who is experiencing this, or how do you help yourself?
Ashley Lemieux of The Shine Project opens up and shares her incredible insight and strength after experiencing what she refers to as her ultimate loss. We focus on what the details of her loss and trauma—and specifically her grief and healing process—looked like directly after, eight months after and now a year and half after losing her children in an unexpected and heart-breaking way. Ashley shares an unbelievable wealth of resources, tools, and lessons that’s she has learned through her experience. And shares them in such a profound and beautiful way so that anyone can relate.
This is an incredibly important episode, filled with stories, specific ideas and words that I know will help heal and guide anyone who is suffering right now--or anyone who wants to help others. It is an honor to be able to share Ashley and her beautiful story—and I know you’ll feel empowered, inspired and comforted after listening.
