Rank #1: FPL GW 25 | SCOUTCAST | Mane replacements and Wildcard planning| Fantasy Premier League Tips 19/20 #319

He tore a hamstring, then broke our hearts. Sadio Mane’s injury in Liverpool’s clash with Wolverhampton has ruined many Fantasy Premier League managers’ double Gameweek 24.

It is understandable that the many Mane owners, in particular those who handed the midfielder their Triple Captain chip, were after some tender loving care from the Scoutcast crew.

Our trio of Joe, Az and FPL Family’s Lee try their best to lift the community’s spirits as they consider the best replacements for the winger.

With a lack of choice among premium assets in the centre of the park, budget options take centre stage, with an eye on pricey picks elsewhere in their squads.

Mane’s injury is set likely to sideline him for the next week or two, which has prompted some to swiftly deploy their Second Wildcard.

This episode takes in the best players to consider for Wildcardees and also aims to help those yet to use this chip, to find the optimal time to wield it during the season run in. This discussion takes in upcoming blank and double Gameweeks, especially the wealth of information available from fixture planning guru Ben Crellin on social media.

One team we know will have a blank fixture, in Gameweek 28, is Sheffield United, as Aston Villa’s Carabao Cup victory this week means the West Midlands side’s forthcoming encounter with Chris Wilder’s troops needs to be postponed. The Scoutcast crew consider the best Blades to opt for given their otherwise splendid schedule.

Elsewhere, Lee takes his turn to pick a differential for the next four Gameweeks, there are clean sheets to consider and transfer and captaincy plans are revealed.

Suddenly many of the trusted troops drafted in during Fantasy Premier League managers’ first Wildcard look like they need moving on.

Lack of form, tricky long-term fixtures and rotation have conspired to see Fantasy Premier League managers remove the likes of John Lundstram, Diego Rico, Tammy Abraham and even Jamie Vardy.

The Scoutcast crew of Joe, Karam and Pro Pundit Tom consider the players best placed to join their outdated squads.

This includes a keen eye on those with a great remaining set of games, including Wolves, Southampton and Sheffield United.

Karam has already overhauled his side and is reaping the rewards. Meanwhile, Tom is not happy with his squad but is holding off deploying his second Wildcard chip for a while.

Joe has had enough of average returns from his lacklustre group of players and is currently assembling a freshly Wildcarded squad.

During their chat about chip strategies and the blank and double Gameweeks ahead, he reveals his current revamped line up.

Chief among his issues is whether that will include Sergio Aguero or not. With West Ham’s dilapidated defence visiting the Etihad the forward looks the best captaincy option this weekend. But during our trio’s discussion the marksman’s medium term viability is called into question.

Gameweek 26’s unusual structure also features in this packed 80 minute episode. The winter break means half the top flight’s teams play this weekend, with the remaining games taking place a week later.

Elsewhere, Tom takes his turn to pick a differential for the next four Gameweeks, there are clean sheets to consider and decisions around that tricky Sergio Aguero Gameweek 26 captaincy question are revealed.

Rank #3: ScoutCast Episode 308 – What FPL managers need to consider for the busy winter schedule.

Podcast cover
Read more

What good is the rest of the season, without the cold thrill of winter fixtures to give it sweetness.

With nine Gameweeks to cram in from now to the end of the year, seasonal planning will be more important than ever for Fantasy Premier League managers.

It’s a mammoth challenge that the ScoutCast crew are looking forward to despite the annual cold snap that is about to descend across their teams.

In this latest episode Joe is joined by Holly and recent Meet the Manager interviewee Tom Freeman to look ahead to the festive fixtures and consider shaking up the template, notably addressing Mason Mount’s recent poor returns.

Holly is particularly well placed for the Christmas chat after penning a recent Pro Pundits article on winter fixture planning.

Meanwhile, Tom’s patient approach, which includes hanging onto his first Wildcard, makes his advice invaluable at this time of year. For Joe, he recommends planning for not one, but two, winter mini-seasons over December.

Navigating Liverpool’s schedule is also looked at, especially how to contend with their great run followed by a blank fixture in Gameweek 18.

Elsewhere, the crew consider the implications of Tottenham’s sacking of Mauricio Pochetinno, a story that broke just before they recorded this episode on Tuesday night.

Clean sheets, Gameweek 13 transfers and captain plans plus an audacious differential recommendation from Tom are also covered in this packed, hour-long, all chiller - no filler episode.

The current Premier League winter break has conspired to make Gameweek 26 one of the longest that FPL managers have experienced.

It therefore seems fitting that this latest edition of the Scoutcast is an extended episode, spanning 90 minutes as the crew are finally able to look ahead to Gameweek 27 and beyond.

Among the pressing issues discussed by Joe, Holly and Az is the potentially season ending injury to Heung-Min Son and the best replacements for the Tottenham attacker.

Relegation scrappers, in particular, Aston Villa’s talismanic midfielder Jack Grealish, also come under consideration as FPL managers hope the basement dwelling stars will defy their perilous position to deliver points.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s financial fair play issues and subsequent Champions League ban are discussed. How will UEFA’s momentous decision affect the Citizens’ chances of domestic success for the season run in?

The winter-break scheduling also sparks a lively debate on potential rule changes for FPL next season. Could the busy festive fixture period be reduced to create an extra Gameweek in February?

Points allocation changes, player reclassification and revamping chips are among a raft of other FPL tweaks our trio ponder.

This episode’s look at Gameweek 26 sees Az present a ‘dossier’ to Joe concerning his recent Wildcard. This gives Joe a chance to discuss how a serious health scare last year is driving his decisions this time around.

Holly takes her turn to pick a differential, on the back of Lateriser12’s recent success selecting Arsenal’s Pepe, who racked up 17 points against Newcastle last weekend. So, no pressure there.

Clean sheets are looked at and our trio round off proceedings by revealing their captaincy and transfer plans.

Christmas is over and it’s time for some January Sales shopping. With new manager bounces across the Premier League there are plenty of cut price player options, who have the chance to do well over the second half of the campaign.

Our trio of Joe, Karam and Az consider the best players with a value now below their starting price, with Watford, Everton, Arsenal and West Ham stars under consideration.

Southampton’s discounted troops also come under scrutiny, as does their star striker Danny Ings, whose price has been rocketing upwards thanks to his incredible scoring run. Az is quite rightly delighted to own him, while Karam and Joe join many in the community, who are wondering why they have still not acquired the former injury-prone Liverpool man.

The Reds also get an airing, with our trio’s double Gameweek plans for Klopp’s table toppers taking centre stage. During this section of the show they reveal very different strategies for finding the best way to tackle this next major fixture challenge for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Elsewhere, there are differentials to consider, clean sheets to mull over as well as Gameweek 22 captaincy and transfers to reveal.

Christmas is not entirely forgotten as Joe, Az and Karam look back on their good, bad and decidedly average festive run of games.

There’s also talk of a naked run through the streets of Lisbon in this packed 96-minute episode.

Gameweek 28 marks one of a number of fixture hurdles facing Fantasy Premier League managers during the season run in. Tough decision lay ahead, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Sheffield United all skipping a league match, due to League Cup scheduling.

Out Scoutcast trio of Joe, Karam and Az are on hand to answer your questions about whether the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang are worth benching or replacing.

Meanwhile, Manchester United finally have a creative player in their squad. This latest episode considers how Bruno Fernandes is shaking up the Red Devils attack and the FPL template, as one of a number of emerging mid-priced midfield gems.

Leicester’s fixture turn, starting at relegation certainties Norwich this weekend, also comes under scrutiny. Is Jamie Vardy’s reputation enough to reward his backers? Or are their better, low-owned Foxes that deserve more attention?

Karam takes his turn selecting a differential for the next month, following Holly’s great choice of Manchester United’s Fernandes last week. There’s clean sheets to consider and Az’s rough with the smooth round up of your Gameweek 27 takes in one Scoutcast regular’s audacious Bench Boost success.

The ascent of Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son is among the key issues Joe, David and Karam tackle ahead of Gameweek 17.

The Spurs midfielder’s broad range of points from goals to assists and bonus has understandably caught their eye ahead of his side’s favourable fixture run.

But who makes way and which other of the North London side’s assets should he be paired up with?

Man City’s once bright stars are being increasingly jettisoned by FPL managers and look to be the obvious fall guys in the clamour for Mourinho’s troops.

However, Liverpool’s high flying assets could become unlikely players to dump.

This episode’s key talking point jumps ahead to Gameweek 18, when Klopp’s lads miss a fixture due to World Club Cup commitments. On their return a hard to call clash with Leicester awaits and the Scoutcast crew mull over the unthinkable – saying goodbye to Liverpool’s premium players, albeit temporarily.

The set of fixtures just passed also come under discussion, in particular Joe and David’s removal of a bracing player each from their line-ups. But thanks to their replacements also performing well, they have mixed feelings about their moves.

World chess champion Magnus Carlsen’s team is looked at again, after he reached an eye-watering fourth spot in the overall rankings.

Meanwhile, Gameweek 17’s transfer plans and captaincies are revealed. There are festive clean sheets to look over and Karam takes his turn picking a top differential to climb the rankings over the next four Gameweeks.

Rank #9: ScoutCast Episode 310 – Christmas rotation and midfield marauders | FPL Fantasy Football Tips 19/20

Podcast cover
Read more

Rotation looks inevitable in Gameweek 15, the second of three set of fixtures in quick succession. Our ScoutCast trio of Joe, Az and FPL Family's Sam look at the surprises in store this week plus the team sheet headaches that await over the festive schedule.

For some, like Sam, they can be a little over prepared, with points mounting up due to her great bench. Az is happy with his weaker substitutes for the time being, while ever the dullard Joe sits somewhere in the middle, with a credible, but ultimately boring, bunch of benchwarmers.

Elsewhere, the plethora of midfield marauders available in Fantasy Premier League are looked at, with Crystal Palace’s talisman Wilfried Zaha as well as Spurs’ ‘number 10’ Dele Alli topping the Scoutcasters’ shopping list. Those wanting to jettison Chelsea’s Mason Mount will be among those keen to shop around.

Our crews’ Gameweek 15’s captaincy and transfer plans get an airing and they also look back on the roughest and smoothest previous set of fixtures for some, thanks to Liverpool’s Salmon-like, leaping centre back.

Meanwhile, the ScoutCast is on a roll with their differential picks recently, with Lee, Az and Tom’s picks all finding the net this week. Can Sam keep that fine run going?

There’s Christmas clean sheets to look at as well as a lively debate over Spurs’ centre forward, or ‘expensive defensive midfielder’, as Az refers to him.

Rank #10: Scoutcast Episode 325 – FPL transfer strategy during lockdown

Podcast cover
Read more

The lockdown, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, continues but there’s still plenty to discuss during football’s enforced break.

Joe is joined by Andy and David to help the community ensure their teams are in the best possible shape for football’s return at a later date.

They look at what state their teams were left in when the Premier League was postponed and how they are looking to take advantage of the Fantasy Premier League allowing transfers to still take place.

Here Joe ponders whether regular host Az was right all along, in a previous Scoutcast episode, when he said that his February wildcard was wasted.

Player motivation, the teams with the best fixtures and the impact of the break on team form are considered.

Elsewhere, the ingenuity of the community is also praised, as our trio look at the virtual FPL games taking place. This includes an indepth look at strategy and future transfers in Ragabolly’s Virtual FPL game.

Competitions around the Championship Manager game, both past and present are also pondered.

With such a long break since their last Scoutcast the crew also consider a range of other questions. Here they controversially reveal who they think is the best Scout, as well as give an insight into their reading habits. This includes a surprisingly football-focused autobiography recommendation as well as news from David that has not only been busy reading books, but writing one too.

Podcast cover
Read more

Joe, Andy and Karam look ahead to FPL Gameweek 18 and firm up their plans for how to tackle Liverpool’s blank fixture, while the Reds are on Club World Cup duties.

Andy believes the League leaders' defence is dispensible whereas Joe is using the fixture schedule to juggle his premium midfielders. All three of our Scoutcasters are in agreement though when it comes to tapping into Spurs’ favourable run of games in Gameweek 18.

Chelsea’s slump in form is also looked at, with Karam on hand with some statistics to show the dramatic extent of the Fantasy Premier League demise of Christian Pulisic.

It’s highly likely that Blues assets will not be featuring in many Wildcard drafts, for those lucky enough to still have this chip available.

Our trio are not so fortunate, but use this latest episode to play fantasy Fantasy football and pretend they still have the Wildcard to play. Here they have a keen eye on January’s fixtures as they run through the players they would bring in, position by position.

For those watching the video version, watch out for Joe’s cat making a rare appearance at the 13 minute mark. Also with an eye on the clock, due to illness Andy is sadly unable to reach the 59 minute mark and claim his extra appearance point. His tweet shortly afterwards shows just how incredible it is that he made it as far as he did during the show.

There are also festive and New Year clean sheets to look over and Joe takes his turn picking a top differential to climb the rankings over the next four Gameweeks. With many exciting options already taken recently our resident dullard doesn’t disappoint.

This episode rounds off with Gameweek 18’s transfer plans and captaincies being revealed.

With one blank, two no shows and a mere assist over the last four Gameweeks Jamie Vardy is not looking in the best of form of late.

Also taking into account his zero shots against Southampton last time out some in the community are considering ditching the Leicester man to make room for Liverpool’s enticing double Gameweek 24.

Joe is joined by FPL Family’s Sam and Lee to discuss the sacrifices that may be needed to maximise the upcoming favourable fixture run for the Reds.

Could even the incredibly consistent Kevin De Bruyne make way for the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah? One of our trio is certainly considering this bold play.

True to form though Joe believes he has a dullard solution to keeping all his current gems and maxing out on Liverpool.

Elsewhere, the bargains among Southampton and Watford’s troops are looking too good to ignore. While there’s less love for the West Midlands teams, with Wolves and Aston Villa players among those likely to depart our trio's line-ups.

Sergio Aguero takes centre stage in our rough with the smooth round up of the community’s Gameweek 22. Joe takes his turn to pick a differential, there’s clean sheets to consider and this episode wraps up with the Scoutcasters’ transfer and captaincy plans for Gameweek 23’s fixtures.

There is a nostalgic theme to this week’s episode, with Joe joined by fellow seasoned ScoutCasters Andy and Az.

Meanwhile, Joe’s ‘nostalgia pick’ of Harry Kane also comes under deserved scrutiny, especially as other strikers, most notably Marcus Rashford, are looking far more appealing.

Our trio consider the merits of drafting in the Manchester United talisman, even before a derby clash this weekend in Gameweek 16. They also reveal their favoured front three going into the festive fixtures.

Formation comes under the spotlight in their lively discussion about how the wealth of cheap defenders this season have altered the thinking of many Fantasy Premier League managers.

Whipping boys are also looked at as the Scoutcast crew consider the defenders to avoid, while Az reveals the best teams for clean sheets over the next six Gameweeks.

Andy takes his turn choosing a differential after recent successes, for Az’s Alli selection two weeks ago and Sam’s James Ward-Prowse punt last time out.

Chess champion Magnus Carlsen is the star of Gameweek 15’s rough with the smooth round up of your latest scores.

Neale and Andy also talk about how a hacking incident forced them to make some uncomfortable changes to their teams.

But this episode isn’t entirely about looking back.

Our trio find time at the end to chat about Ragabolly’s excellent Virtual FPL game, which has attracted almost 3,000 players.

When does patience stop being a virtue and become downright stubbornness?

This is among the issues tackled by Joe, Az and Lee on this week’s ScoutCast as they look at their own stubborn streaks and wonder whether impatience may actually be the better strategy this season.

Those who have been slow to catch on to Jamie Vardy’s sensational captaincy potential, and clinging to the hope that Raheem Sterling will eventually score in the league, will know about the cost of patience only too well.

There’s also plenty of input too from the community on this issue as they reveal how they may have been, perhaps, too set in their ways this campaign.

Meanwhile, Jesus' credentials as a differential saviour is also on the bill as are Spurs assets, who are already shaking up the template under Mourinho. But which of the North Londoners’ wealth of attacking talent is the best to acquire?

Our trio also look back at their Gameweek 13 scores and find time to detail their plans for the upcoming Gameweek 14 matches this weekend.

In this packed show they also manage to squeeze in the regular features including clean sheets and rough with the smooth.

Finally, Az marks his return to the ScoutCast line up to maintain his strong track record of picking differentials by taking his turn to pick the next month’s best low-owned gem.

Will our trio continue to be stubborn this season, or will the patient approach prevail?

With a hangover like this Gameweek 20 must have been a great party.

Except it wasn’t. It was awful. Hardly anyone turned up.

The only memories of the last set of matches are of being alone, crying in the kitchen, swearing at teamsheets and wishing for a captaincy haul.

Joe and Andy struggle through their hideous Christmas hangover and their unhappy festive FPL memories, hoping for better luck in Gameweek 21.

At least they’ve been handed some clues about who will start on New Year’s Day as they consider the players most and least likely to take to the pitch.

They also look further ahead, most notably to Gameweek 24, when Liverpool and West Ham have a Double Gameweek. But which three Reds assets are the best to bring in? And are any Hammers worth considering?

Joe likes to look at fixture blocks during each campaign. With this in mind our duo answer your questions about the best players for the next mini-season during January. Form, fixtures and a world-class manager mean that Everton’s troops look particularly appealing.

The communities’ roughest and smoothest moves also get an airing, Andy takes his turn picking a differential and there are clean sheets to consider.
