Welcome to the Creatives Podcast, my name is James and this is episode 2. If you guys listened to last weeks episode welcome back and if this is your first time listening thanks for checking out the show!In todays episode I talk with Chantry Johnson. He is a very talented musician and producer. He plays guitar, drums and piano amongst other instruments. He is a singer and songwriter and all around really creative guy.I’ve know Chantry for quite awhile. We grew up in the same city and played a bunch of shows together back in our highshcool and college years. In the interview we talk about how he first got into music and everything that lead to where he is now working fulltime in a studio in LA.We talk about his opportunity to play guitar for the band The Cab and going on a world tour as main support for Maroon 5. We talk about his band with his two brothers called The Johnsons and their success on YouTube doing covers as well as original music. We also touch on his current job producing and engineering at a studio in LA.I just wanted to mention that we talk about Demi Lovato towards the end of the episode because Chantry has had the opportunity to do some work on a few Demi songs. This interveiw was recorded before the recent events with Demi’s hospitalization so I just wanted to acknowledge that and say that our thoughts and prayers go out to Demi and her family.Overall this is a great conversation getting to know Chantry and getting some insight into moving to LA and pursuing a career in music. Welcome back to the Creatives Podcast my name is James. Thank you guys for checking out the show! On today’s episode I talk to Ty Caskey. He is a worship pastor. He also writes and records his own music and is one of the best guitar players I know! Ty actually wrote and recorded the intro music for this podcast. This interview was actually the first interview I recorded for the show so the intro music wasn’t written at the time or else that would’ve been a fun example to breakdown his creative process. Ty and I have written a lot of music together over the years and I’m always jealous of the infinite number of guitar parts he can come up with in about an hour working on one song. It always makes for a fun time writing though.In the interview we touch on Ty’s history with music and talk a bit about his writing style over the years. How it started with nothing but classic rock to now writing worship music. We also talk about getting into recording music at home and his newist project getting into doing YouTube videos.Honestly listening back to this interview I can tell it was my first one for the show. He is the lead singer of two bands currently, The Aftershow and a band called All Good Things. We talk about growing up in a small town in Montana and what his influences were growing up. We talk about moving to LA and the opportunities that came from that. Some of those opportunities being recording jingles for commercials as well as writing for movies and tv shows. And then we talk about his two bands and how different each one is stylistically and the unique story behind how each band came to be.It was really great for me to catch up with Dan and hear all about what he’s been up to the last few years. He is a solo artist as well as the lead singer and guitarist for his band Dirty Pillows. I have known William for over 10 years now and he is honestly one of the most entertaining and fun people I know. In the interview we talk about how he first got started playing guitar and singing. We talk about how his song writing and approach to music has changed over time. And we also talk about his ridiculous ability to play a four hour solo set of cover songs. That impressive cover song setlist has allowed him to do music fulltime playing different events which gives him more time to work on his own music with his band Dirty Pillows.We talk about the bands first record that came out earlier this year. We talk specifically about a couple songs, one called “The World Outside” and one called “Juniper”. Definitely give those two songs a listen and it’ll give you some context for the conversation. In the interview we talk about how he first got started playing guitar and singing. We talk about how his song writing and approach to music has changed over time. And we also talk about his ridiculous ability to play a four hour solo set of cover songs. That impressive cover song setlist has allowed him to do music fulltime playing different events which gives him more time to work on his own music with his band Dirty Pillows.We talk about the bands first record that came out earlier this year. We talk specifically about a couple songs, one called “The World Outside” and one called “Juniper”. Definitely give those two songs a listen and it’ll give you some context for the conversation. We also talk about his future plans for the band.
