Really great content and knowledge - although sometimes it feels like the interviewers don’t listen and respond to the interviewees questions, but rather just move on to the next question. It doesn’t feel conversational enough sometimes.

Rank #1: 024 - Michael DiTullo

Since we re-branded to Advanced Design - we had to make some changes to some of our services. Our ADS Live is now called “CONTEXT”. A podcast where we have conversations about design, discuss the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed. Our first session (and longest podcast, clocking in at two hours) is with seasoned designer Michael DiTullo - who has designed for so many brands such as Converse, Nike, Sound United, and frog. Super grateful we were able to get Michael to join us and discuss how social media is part of our process and life. We discussed how Instagram and the images we post as designers are the tip of the iceberg, there’s so much behind what we do, we also discussed failures, and how we should embrace it, be more open about it. To follow Michael’s design work and journey, be sure to follow him on Instagram @d2lo. Thank you for tuning into CONTEXT, send us a DM or email at hello@advdes.org to provide us with your thoughts and comments on our dialogue with designers!

He was recently inducted into the prestigious IDSA Academy of Fellows, and we’re blessed to have him based out of Chicago. During this CONTEXT podcast, we talk about Paul’s undergraduate journey at Northumbria University, and how Jony Ive set the standard at Northumbria, prompting all of his professors to say “be more like Jony, design more like Jony” - which made his design education a bit funny and noteworthy. This is the first time we have a guest designer host another guest designer. Thank you Cesar Idrobo for interviewing our guest and your neighbor, L.A. based design researcher Meghan Preiss. We talk with Meghan about her anxiety and fears, getting her on this podcast and live on Instagram was something she needed to overcome - this is something that we all face, and we don’t talk about it as much as we should - let’s humanize failures and fears, be open about ourselves, and love who we are. Meghan has accomplished so much in her young career, and she won’t let anything in her way - a positive attitude is one way to overcome!
