The Purpose Show

Mom life. We're surrounded by the message that it's the tired life. The no-time-for-myself life. The hard life. We're supposed to get through it. Survive. Cling on by the last little thread. And at the same time, Carpe Diem - enjoy every moment because it's going to go by so fast. The typical mom culture sends us all kinds of mixed, typically negative messages. We shouldn't take care of ourselves; it's selfish. The more ragged you run yourself, the bigger your badge of honor. But also, ditch your mom bod and work out. Don't yell. Make more money. Show up. Be better, but not at the expense of time with your kids.I am putting a hard stop to all of this. While being a mom, running a business, and whatever else you might have going on is hard, it is a lot and there's lots of giving of yourself, the idea that motherhood means living a joyless, nonstop-hustle-with-zero-balance kind of life, where you give and give and give and never take, needs to stop.I'm on a mission to help you stop counting down the minutes 'til bedtime (at least most days). Stop the mom guilt and shame game. Stop cleaning up after your kids' childhood and start being present for it. I want to help you thrive in work, home, and life. I believe in John 10:10 that we are called to living an abundant life and I know moms are not excluded from that promise. Join me in conversations about simplicity, some business and life hacks, spirituality and lots of other good stuff that leads to a life of less for the sake of enjoying more in your motherhood. I'm Allie Casazza and this is The Purpose Show.

Ep 123: Releasing the Other Version of Yourself

This episode is going to be more serious. Recently as I was sitting still in meditation, I had a realization that was so powerful. It was almost in the form of a vision. If you sometimes worry about others’ expectations of you, or even high expectations you set for yourself, this could be really helpful for you. I want to share it because I believe that it can set someone else free, like it did for me. Everything I talk about in this episode can be found HERE: alliecasazza.com/shownotes/123

EP 003: How My Morning Ritual Is Changing My Life

Having a morning ritual can completely change the flow of your day. Some morning rituals are all about productivity, getting things done before the kids wake-up, and others are more about self-care. There is no right or wrong when you create your routine, it all depends on what season of life that you are in. My morning ritual began when my husband was still working outside the home, as a way to build and grow my business. Since that time so much has changed in my life, I had a period of time where I’d jump out of bed and get started on my tasks for the day, but I am at a point now where being able to deeply focus on myself and self-care will be more beneficial to my day. One last note, I used to be a night owl, but I knew how much more purposeful my days would be if I began rising her earlier. It was a process, but it was worth putting the effort in to switch to a early bird. Everything I talk about in this episode can be found here: http://alliecasazza.com/shownotes/003

Ep 065: The Beginner's Guide to A Minimalist Home

How do you feel when you walk your home? Do you feel happy? Calm? Overwhelmed? Angry? Depressed? Resentful? Blessed? Do you feel like you just don't even have time to care about how you feel? Because I've been there. And now I want you to answer this: How do you want to feel when you walk into your home? Do your answers to those two questions match? If not, I want to help you get to the place where they match and you feel good walking into your home. There is a connection between minimalism and motherhood. We have to move beyond organization and dive deep into decluttering to experience the joy that comes with minimalism. Once we do that, we can truly enjoy motherhood more! EP 004: Positive Words For Your Children

Words can be an incredible way of bringing positivity into your life and the life of your children. I’ve always been drawn to words. I can remember as a child and now as an adult looking back and realizing how special this was. I literally had a relationship with words. I’d make up stories. I’d take classic fairy tales and rewrite them into my own versions, I just loved being surrounded by words. Words have always just been a really powerful passion in my life. The other side of words are that they can slice deep, especially in marriage. Any flaw you have, is magnified 1000% in marriage. So, while words have been a crazy positive gift for me, they’ve also been a weakness. However, it is most important to me to use words in a positive way. Words have shaped some circumstances of my life, and in today’s episode I want to share a how effective words have been in changing the behavior of my children. Ep 130: Sunday Night Prep: The Key to Purposeful Weeks

Something I get asked about often is Sunday Night Prep or the Sunday Night Reset. It's something that Brian and I started years ago and I’ve talked about it before on my blog. I believe it is such an important and life-changing practice. It's essentially a way to look ahead at the week and be responsive, not reactive. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” If you don't look ahead and know where you're going, you're not going to make it there. So, my encouragement to you is to really listen to what I'm saying in this episode. Really challenge yourself to lean in and check in with yourself, your spouse, and your family once a week. I promise it will change the way you are doing life. Let’s jump in! Everything I talk about in this episode can be found HERE: alliecasazza.com/shownotes/130

Ep 129: Q&A: Busting Through Your Hurdles to Decluttering

I get asked so many questions about decluttering—which is what I’m most known for. Lately, there have been a lot of questions about people getting stuck in their decluttering efforts. So, I hosted live Q&A workshop online and answered a bunch of these questions live! I couldn’t answer every single one but I answered the ones that are the most common. Decluttering is doable for everyone. A minimalist lifestyle is possible for everyone and I can show you how to get there in a way that’s practical, possible and relative to you and your family. This is what makes me different from other minimalist teachers. You don’t want to miss this. Ep 111: A Simple Practice for Daily Happiness, Mindfulness & Making Decisions with Emily P. Freeman

Did you know that, on average, you make 35,000 decisions every single day? That is a lot and feels overwhelming! But decision making doesn’t have to be that way. If we shift our focus from putting off decisions, putting pressure on them, or ignoring them and we turn our focus to the next right thing, the whole decision-making process will be more fun and less intimidating! Emily Freeman is the founder of an incredible movement called The Next Right Thing. She has a book and a podcast around this theory of focusing on the next right thing in front of us and the power that has in our decision making. Give yourself permission to stay in the moment and take action on the next right thing! (Like listening to this episode, because it is a GOOD one!) Ep 070: 6 Things I No Longer Purchase Since Becoming A Minimalist

As you know, I am all about simplifying things and making things better and lighter, making things work better for me and the season that I'm in right now. And through that, I have been getting really intentional with the things that I'm buying. Really questioning what's coming into my home and (like Nate Berkus says) “becoming a ruthless editor” of what I allow to take up space in the space that I live in. That matters and that's something to guard! My goal is just to encourage you and show you that there's so much out there we don't really need to be buying. To encourage you to question why am I getting this or why am I buying anything not just things on this list. I really hope this episode will inspire you and make you think a little bit! EP 031: An Uncluttered Life

Living An Uncluttered Life goes beyond your physical possessions. It reaches out to other areas of your life such as your health, your calendar, your obligations, and even your friendships. What is this event doing for me? Is serving 3 days a week at this place bringing me joy? Does this person bring positivity or negativity to my life? Those are all questions we can ask ourselves as we start to live an uncluttered life. Bringing minimalism into these areas of our lives is so important and so healing. And by letting go of excess and removing what's not serving you, you are giving yourself space to have a more joy-filled life! We get real vulnerable as we discuss our personality differences and the hot button issues in our marriage (everyone has one!). Beth helped us navigate how to handle issues that continuously come up in our marriage! We've seen a big difference in the mutual respect level between us and that is because Beth helped us understand each other’s personality! Ep 080: Creating A Cozy Minimalist Home with Myquillyn Smith "The Nester"

A book can teach you something new. It can inspire you to make positive changes in your life and can take you to a different level in your life. Reading is so important to me which is why I am excited for Allie Reads October here on the podcast! All month I am interviewing some amazing authors. We will talk about their books, life, and living a life of purpose and intention. Myquillyn Smith is a blogger and an author. She's written The Nesting Place and her new book, Cozy Minimalist Home (which is right up my alley). Myquillyn and I talk about ways you can create a space that is both cozy and minimal in your home. She is really great at teaching her audience to create an atmosphere that allows them to live and focus on what really matters to them, and less about maintaining their stuff. Use the hashtag #AllieReadsOctober to share with me this month. What are you reading? Did you get any of the books from the authors I’m talking to you about? Are you reading a different book? How are you taking this challenge to read more and putting it into action? I cannot wait to see what you share!
