“I work with 2-5 grade LA teachers. One topic that comes up is reserving titles for certain grade levels. I can understand a couple of titles for read alouds, but at some point I feel like it’s unfair to “reserve” a title for a single grade level. I believe that books can be old friends to be revisited multiple times with multiple lenses. Also, it can cause teachers to become stagnant and not search out new titles. It has been suggested that grade levels write down what books they’ve used so that other grade levels don’t use them. How do you feel about this?”
