Rank #1: The Delphi Murders

Podcast cover
Read more
On February 13th, 2017, two teenage girls were murdered in Delphi, Indiana.

Liberty German and Abigail Williams - "Libby" and "Abby" for short - were two regular 8th graders that were enjoying a day off from school. Trying to take advantage of an unusually warm winter day, the two girls went hiking on one of Delphi's historic trails, overlooking Deer Creek.

As the girls walked along the Monon High Bridge, they were accosted by a strange man - who police believe murdered them a short time later. In some of their final moments, the girls managed to record audio and video of this man, but he has gone unidentified in the years since...

Rank #2: The Waltham Triple Murder

Podcast cover

In September of 2011, a morbid saga began to play out in a suburb of Boston named Waltham.

The bodies of 37-year-old Raphael "Rafi" Teken, 31-year-old Erik Weissman, and 25-year-old Brendan Mess were found in Brendan's second-story apartment. The specific circumstances of their deaths pointed to a vicious killer with personal motives, and robbery was immediately ruled out as a potential motive.

The case quickly went cold, but attention would be drawn to it more than a year later, when one of the largest acts of terrorism in American history began to unfold in neighboring Boston...

Rank #3: Bardstown - Revisited (Part Three: Crystal Rogers)

Podcast cover
Read more
On July 3rd, 2015, Crystal Rogers was last seen by anyone. She had been planning to spend the evening with her boyfriend, Brooks Houck, and had excitingly told a friend about finally enjoying a child-free night.

Crystal, a mother of five, had been dating Brooks for a few years. The two had one child together (an infant son named Eli), and even though their relationship wasn't perfect, it seemed okay from the outside looking in.

When Crystal's maroon Chevy Impala was found along the Bluegrass Parkway two days later, Crystal was reporting missing. Her disappearance would spark the third major criminal investigation in as many years, and - to this day - Crystal's whereabouts remain unknown.
This is the third part of a new Unresolved series, Bardstown - Revisited. I originally covered Crystal's story back in February of 2016, but have expanded upon it significantly, and have rewritten/rerecording everything.

Podcast cover
Read more
This is an update regarding the first story I tackled on "Unresolved," that of the serial offender that went by several names: Original Night Stalker, East Area Rapist, Golden State Killer, and Visalia Ransacker.
On April 24th, police in Ventura County, California, arrested 72-year old Joseph James Deangelo for the murders of Charlene and Lyman Smith. They were just two deaths attributed to this unknown killer, this mysterious EAR/ONS/GSK, among over a dozen.

Upon his arrest, law enforcement announced a press conference for this four-decades old cold case. Investigators and websleuths alike are desperate to learn any details about this little-known Deangelo, who wasn't even on the radar of law enforcement more than a week ago.

Rank #5: The Keddie Murders

Podcast cover
Read more
In April of 1981, a violent crime would tear apart a quiet town in northern California.

Keddie is a small town in the Sierra Nevada mountains, located roughly halfway between Redding and Reno. Originally established as a stop along the railroad, the area was in the middle of a total transition when the Sharp family moved there in the latter half of 1980.

On the morning of April 11th, 1981, 14-year-old Sheila Sharp was returning from a neighbor's house following a sleepover. That was when she discovered the gruesome crime scene that had been left behind... and the vile mystery that would haunt her (and the rest of Keddie) for the next four decades...

On March 3rd, 1989, two women were found to have been murdered 50 miles away from one another.

24-year-old Peggy Gill & 34-year-old Jeanne Gilbert were each living separate lives in Merrillville and Rensselaer, Indiana (respectively), and neither seemed to have an inkling of the other's existence. Their only link seemed to be their employment with the Days Inn hotel brand, with each women working as a night auditor for their local branch.

However, in the early morning hours of March 3rd, 1989, the stories of these two women would become forever intertwined. As two separate murder investigation began to unfold that weekend, connections would eventually reveal that a single individual had committed both crimes within a few hours...

Rank #7: The Millbrook Twins (Part One: The Known)

Podcast cover
Read more
In March of 1990, a pair of twins - named Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook - disappeared from their hometown of Augusta, GA.

By all indications, they were just a regular couple of teenagers. They came from a large immediate family, but spent most of their time at home: they sang along to songs on the radio, spent most of their free time lounging around in front of the television, and attended church every Sunday.

But on one particular Sunday - March 18th, 1990 - the twins walked through the neighborhood, hoping to collect bus fare from their godfather. They visited their godfather, then their cousin, and finally their sister, before stopping by a convenience store to buy some snacks. When they left the store, they were never seen again.

I am joined by the younger sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, as well as the hosts of the podcast The Fall Line.

On the evening of July 24th, 2018 - a Wednesday - 39-year old Andrya DeGhelder was a no-show for her shift at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. This was very unlike Andrya, a divorced mother of one, who had a reputation for being reliable and punctual.

Her coworkers contacted a friend, who tried to get in-touch with Andrya. Eventually, after paying Andrya an unsuccessful house call, this friend contacted the local sheriff's office, who paid a visit to Andrya's home in Grovetown, Georgia.

There, police would find a chaotic crime scene, which they believe pointed to an abduction. Over the next week or so, investigators and volunteers would work to raise awareness for Andrya's disappearance, highlighting her past struggles, but a shocking discovery just a week later would shock this quiet community...

Rank #10: Chase Massner

In March of 2014, 26-year old Chase Massner disappeared from a friend's home. Chase, an Iraqi war veteran who lived in Canton, Georgia. Struggling to make ends meet and provide for his family, Chase took a job at a Quik-Trip in Kennesaw, located just a mile or so away from one of Chase's friends named Brad Clement.

Chase and his wife, Amanda, had been having issues in the months before Chase's disappearance. Constant financial pressure put a strain on their relationship, and Chase was spending less time with both her and their two daughters. In the days before his disappearance, he had been spending time with his mother, Stephanie Cadena.

On March 27th, Amanda dropped Chase off in Kennesaw. He went to stay the night with his friend, Brad. By Brad's own recollection, Chase was looking for a drug known as roxicodone. The next day, March 28th, Chase was gone. Brad claimed that Chase disappeared, but allegations would continue to sniff around Brad for years afterwards.

Rank #11: Tiffany Nelson

Podcast cover
Read more
In June of 1994, a nine-year old girl was preparing to live out her summer dreams. Tiffany Elizabeth Nelson, a native of Augusta, Georgia, was a tomboy that loved to ride her bike while wearing frilly dresses. She had suffered the loss of her mother just two years prior, and was living with her aunt, Ora, in her home along Getzen Drive - just a few miles away from where Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook had gone missing four years beforehand.

It was the first Monday of summer vacation, when Tiffany rode her bike down to a corner convenience store just a few blocks away. She was last seen at that gas station at approximately 10:00 AM, filling up her bike tires with air. When she went missing, very little was done to find her - or to investigate any of the potential offenders living in the area.

Over the next eleven years, Tiffany would just become a footnote for the area: a cautionary tale for neighborhood children. But in 2005, a forester made a discovery roughly twenty miles south, which proved that there was more to Tiffany's case than met the eye...

This announcement was made on Reddit to very little fanfare. Other than serving as a moderator on a creepy subreddit, /u/ReligionOfPeace was known for being an old, gruff weirdo, who claimed to have a storied military history.

However, over the coming months, curious web-sleuths began to dig into the history of these two Reddit accounts, and found that they were each linked to a website. This website - named Lake City Quiet Pills - had hidden messages buried in its code, which hinted at the site being much more than meets the eye...

In 2008, an unknown gunman would commit one of the few unsolved mass shootings in U.S. history.

February 2nd of that year was a cold and blustery day in the region of Tinley Park, Illinois. That morning, two Lane Bryant employees and four customers would be taken captive by an armed gunman just after the store opened.

The gunman, who posed as a delivery man, would loiter in the store for upwards of 40 minutes, before shooting the six female hostages and making off with a little more than $200. Despite the involvement of national and international law enforcement agencies, the killer's identity - and motives - remain a mystery to this day.

On the evening of December 30th, 2000, a family home in Tokyo's Setagaya district would become a house of horrors.

Mikio and Yasuko Miyazawa had moved to the home more than 10 years prior, back in 1990, and decided to start their family there. In the years since, they had introduced a daughter (Niina) and a son (Rei) to the world, and comfortably lived next door to some of Yasuko's family members.

But it was on the morning of New Years Eve 2000 that Yasuko's mother would attempt to reach the family. First my phone, and then at the couple's front door. When she entered the home using her key, she was unprepared to find the carnage that awaited her...
I originally covered the Miyazawa's story back in 2016. This is a re-recording of that original episode, along with some new edits and added information.

On the morning of November 16th, 1987, a pair of hunters discovered the skeletonized remains of a young woman just a stone's throw away from Shaw Creek - in the woods just south of Eureka, South Carolina. These remains have never been identified, and serve as the jumping-off point for an investigation that now spans over three decades.

In 1991, the remains of a local woman - Jackie Council - would be found roughly half-a-mile away. Then, in 1993, another unidentified Jane Doe was found just off Shaw Creek. As if that wasn't enough, the body of a Georgia woman that went missing in 1989 - named Risteen Durden - was found just a few miles away in 1992.

The state these women were found in point to a single suspect: a killer that terrorized young black women in Aiken County. However, until now, this killer hasn't even had a name... and while there are many of suspects to look at, none of them completely fit the bill...
