Adobe Lightroom Mobile is great at letting you take better photos while traveling. One of my favorite tricks is to use Lightroom Mobile Sync to get all of my RAW files and edits back on to my desktop computer and into my image archive when I return to the studio. In this photo editing tutorial I'll show you how to edit photos in Lightroom Mobile on the go and how to seamlessly move transfer them through the cloud to Adobe Lightroom on my desktop computer. This is one of my favorite tips for how to edit travel photos while on the road.

Rank #4: Why every photographer needs an ND filter

Podcast cover
Read more
Neutral Density filters are extremely useful in video and still photography applications when you want to control light and use lower shutter speeds.

Check out Blackstone filters at http://www.winecountry.camera/
You can get 15% off of anything in the store by using offer code AOP on checkout.

Typically in video you will get the best motion estimation by using a 180 degree shutter. This is double the frame-rate of your video clip. In still photography and landscapes you want to be able to capture motion of things like clouds or water for a dramatic effect.

All ND filters are not created equal. Color casts are a huge problem as are distortions from glass inconsistencies. I use only Blackstone filters for this reason.

Rank #6: Why you won't succeed in photography

Podcast cover
Read more
Success requires work. It also requires understanding how to get people's attention.

I got a question from a viewer about how to succeed in photography. This individual is somewhat frustrated and its completely understandable. I personally believe that everyone in the world has the power to do anything they want. There are countless people who are proof of this. But the bottom line is that most can't/don't/won't which is why my advice should fire you up even more.

• Define what you are trying to succeed at specifically. Chase that goal, but don't close yourself off to other opportunities.
• Be careful about "creating work for yourself"
• Do the work. This is the most obvious, but its the most difficult. Its also what makes people ultimately give up. Do the work.

Rank #7: Why Sony is absolutely KILLING it right now

Podcast cover
Read more
Love them or hate them, Sony has come to a point with their alpha series mirrorless camera lineup where they are dominating the mirrorless market. So much so that Nikon and Canon are aggressively designing mirrorless systems of their own.

As someone who's had faith in Sony since the early days of e-mount, I want to share a few thoughts on what differentiates a mirrorless camera from a traditional DSLR. It goes way beyond the fact that the mirror is gone so the camera can be smaller. Its a system-wide approach and I think this will shed a little bit of light on what Canon and Nikon are facing putting together their own systems.

Rank #9: The WIDEST lens Hasselblad has produced to date :: Hasselblad 21mm f/4 review

Podcast cover
Read more
The Hasselblad 21mm f/4 is the widest lens Hasselblad has produced to date. The closest focal range this would come close to would be the Fujifilm 23mm GFX.

This lens has a full frame equivalent to about 17mm - it is wide. Its also extremely impressive in terms of performance. This is a difficult lens to design within the limitations of portability, price, and fitting in with the rest of the system. The engineers at Hasselblad have done a brilliant job with this lens.

Its very much a technical lens with incredible distortion control and edge to edge sharpness. The 21mm f/4 is perfect for architectural photography - particularly interiors and tight spaces that can be challenging to photograph.

The lens features 13 elements in 9 groups, 2 aspherical elements, an aperture range of f/4 to f/32, central lens shutter with up to 1/2000 sec flash sync, internal focusing with manual focus override and a front filter threading of 77mm.

Hasselblad were kind enough to loan me one from the first production run for a week to test.

Fujifilm has designed a photography gem with the Fujifilm X-T2. The feature I’m most impressed by is the way they have considered the user experience of photographers in the design. Rank #19: Creative Photography vs Technical Photography

Podcast cover
Read more
Photography is a mix of many disciplines - it includes a creative component on top of physics, chemistry, electronics and other various sciences.

We live in an age where we have more technology coming out than we actually use. In some ways we are spoiled to this and its made us lazy in the effort that we put into creating images.

So in this video, I'd like to raise a discussion about where the boundary is between the technical and the creative sides of our art. Where is it for you?
