Rank #2: Episode 10 - End Homelessness

Podcast cover
Read more
In recent weeks there has been a huge amount of activity in progressing the efforts to address Homelessness in WA. In this episode I was fortunate to speak with some members of the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness. This included Sam Knight Executive Manager of Housing and Homelessness at Ruah Community Services, Michelle Mackenzie (the CEO of Shelter WA) and Katie Stubley ... who is the Alliance’s Steering Group facilitator.
Firstly, there was the release of research (headed by our our very own Professor Paul Flatau) into the State of Homelessness in Australia’s cities using data collected at Registry Week’s across Australia.
The Alliance then released it’s Strategy for Western Australia to End Homelessness ... Titled : - A ten year plan to END homelessness in Western Australia ... Together we can make a difference.
And later in the evening on Friday April 13th, a truely unique event captured the hearts and minds of those in the PERTH CBD. There where over 1,000 performers ... comprising an orchestra; massed choir, professional and community ensembles, all moving through the streets of Perth performing Gavin Bryars' Jesus' Blood Never Failed Me Yet. This event was led by the UWA Conservatorium of Music and co-hosted by the WA Alliance to End Homelessness and The Centre for Social Impact.
For those who missed this stunning event ... the intro to this podcast features some recordings taken from the night.
Please enjoy.
