Episode 21: Chris Dugan, Fighter, Survivor, and Tiger

The Legacy Series Life After Football Podcast

Chris Dugan’s path to the NFL stood on the balance during a minor league tryout that consisted of him only being given one shot to make a 50-yard field goal. If he missed, the tryout was over, and he wasn’t going to get signed to the team. Fortunately, he made the kick, which allowed him to prove himself enough overtime to finally get his call to up the NFL. His time in the league included seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, and Seattle Seahawks. His style of kicking puts him in a rare group as he was a barefooted kicker. Following football, he has had his share of difficulties as he reports he has gone through over 50 brain surgeries, dispelling any myth that kickers do not suffer head injuries. Now, he is trying to help strengthen the football brotherhood and share his story from which others can learn.
