Genevieve Fisher

Inside Today's Country

The story behind this was inspired by a real life experience for Genevieve. The message is one that so many are able to relate to. "I had just performed at a show in my hometown which I found to be disappointing in terms of lack of support. I quickly began second guessing myself and started second guessing so much of what I was doing. Coincidentally I had already arranged some writing sessions in Nashville with my flight leaving the following day. As I always do, I started to come up with some song ideas. In this case, I specifically started to focus on how I was feeling following that previous night. I vividly remember thinking that I needed to write a song to pick myself back up and get me back on track. I needed to write a song for me. I was drawing from my own emotions. This was one case where I was the inspiration behind this song. I walked into my write with Karen Kosowski and Emma-Lee feeling lost and defeated. I told them I had a title in mind: “Someone Else” - essentially saying that if you could see yourself through the eyes of someone else, that you could see your potential and beauty. I know I’m not alone in this. So often, we can be our our own worst critic. While you would never think of telling someone that they’re not good enough, or pretty enough, or strong enough, we seem to find it easy to think of ourselves in these terms. Sometimes we just need that reminder, to step back, take a deep breath, and try to see yourself through the eyes of Someone Else." Genevieve co-wrote Someone Else with Karen Kosowski and Emma-Lee. The track was recorded in Nashville in late February of 2020. Her production was once again completed under the direction of her producer Jason Massey with engineering by Billy Decker. www.genevievefisher.ca

This Christmas with a Prince You're Getting a Secret Broken Leg and Backstage Passes to Meet Genevieve Fisher

A Lifetime of Hallmark

Les, Kurt, and Jason deliver some Blac Chyna and Lori Loughlin news, but they waste no time dissecting Hallmark's Christmas with a Prince, a movie so bad that Les didn't care about the missed opportunity for a makeover montage, Kurt's wish of the movie ending came true just in time, and Jason made a face after a line of dialogue so cringe-worthy that you've got to see it to believe it (on Instagram @lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast). But despite it's shortcomings, this movie takes giant swings for a Hallmark movie, most notably its level of hordoggedness (including a round of TRUTH OR DARE between adults and children cancer patients). So take a single sip of warm bear, kick up your broken leg that nobody's allowed to know about, and try to enjoy the ensuing career defining performance of a singer you've likely never heard of unless you're Canadian.  Facebook : alifetimeofhallmark Instagram : alifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

Interview with Genevieve Fisher

In The Country with Dave Woods

With 4 top 50 hit songs already to her credit, Ontario's Genevieve Fisher continues to expand her influence on the Canadian Country music scene. Her performance at the 2012 CCMA New Artist Showcase in Saskatoon left an impression on all who were in attendance and helped her take another big step in the right direction. This was followed by Female Artist of the Year nominations at the 2013 and 2015 Country Music Association of Ontario Awards. And now she is nominated once again for Female Artist of the Year at the 2016 CMAO awards. Check out this great organization at www.cmaontario.ca When not performing at some of Canada’s largest Country music festivals, Genevieve finds herself collaborating with some of the brightest songwriters on both sides of the border. She has already shared writing credits with Jason Blaine, Steven Lee Olsen, Patricia Conroy, Jason Massey, Jennifer Schott and many more. If it is true that you can judge a person from the company they keep, Genevieve is poised to make her mark on the Canadian music scene.Tune in for my chat with Genevieve and hear two of her latest songs!
