Eli Escobar is the quintessential New York City DJ. Over the past ten years he's built a reputation around his parties, and we revisit the last days of FatBeats, Turntable Lab, and the New York music scene. A life obsessing over disco records, we chat about Madonna, Velvet Rope, the pandemic, and his new EP Night Class. He was prepared to disregard them entirely until one evening he was listening back and ended up grouping five of those tracks together and began to hear them in a new way. It's an all-encompassing talk that runs the gamut similar to how his nostalgic samples brought you back in time to the classic clubs he came up in as a kid. Enjoy! Eli is NYC's preeminent DJ. Period. For dance music that is, of course there may be other genres other people I've never met care about. There's been others in the past, but it's been him for a minute now. I think Francoise K and Danny Krivit had times. I see my next guest, Justin Strauss, in this other category, he's always been someone I look up to as creating the situation I've enjoyed, but it's like Justin never required the attention. Eli doesn't ask for any attention either, but he gets it. He tells us the story of Tiki Disco, humble random beginnings turned into NYC's best known party really of the decade. He's got his long desired Eli all night long residency now at House of Yes. Welcome addition to NYC dance music calendar after Francoise's Monday Cielo ending. I planned to actually post Eli as my first DJ episode, born and raised NYC DJ, but I wanted to wait until Sunday, so I swapped with Scuba. Sunday, May 24...if I were in NYC. I'd be at Tiki Disco. So cue up one of his mixes after you listen, and pretend for a bit.

In 2008 I started a series of radio shows with fellow Freak and host, Jonny Rock. The original format was based around vinyl. Digital started to creep in, then CD's, then YouTube rips, and so on. But the idea remained the same, that we were sharing our discoveries with an audience.

Fast forwarding a couple of years and expanding on the original concept, I will once again be playing dance music that you may or may not have heard, but this time said music will be readily available, if pointed in the right direction of course. The idea is for you to use me as your selector slash shop assistant in a virtual record store. Not only will I be shouting about both old and new music, but I will also be following it up with a series of compilations to be released on my label, Classic throughout the year. I will be your slightly odd, slightly off-centre, guide. But ultimately and most importantly, your friendly on-line record shop assistant.

1. Moodymann - Do No Wrong - KDJ
2. Austin Ato feat Dave Giles - Drip - Classic
3. Zanzibar Chanel - Drunk at the Jazz Club
4. Roisin Murphy - Murphy_s_Law_(Crooked Man Remix)
5. Rimbaudian - Let Me Beat U
6. Dave + Sam - Your Da Shit (Nick Godmode Remix) - Classic
7. Rootstrax - Harlequin
8. Terry_Hunter-Madness(Emmaculate_Mad_On_Acid_Remix) - Ts Crates
9.  Force Placement - Retinex Retinex
10. Native Dance - Electrozouk
11. Flat White Records - Meowsn'
12. Flaunt Edwards - Plants of Lifge (Kon and Flaunts Scorpio groove) - Flaunt Edwards
13. Horse Meat Disco - Jump In To The Light  - Glitterbox
