The Dave Glover Show at the Sallie House

Play
Read more
In this episode, we revisit the Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas – by way of The Dave Glover Show, as Scott's not quite ready to return in person. ; ) Being an Astonishing Legends listener himself, Dave has graciously invited Scott and Forrest to appear on his show several times.  Now it was time to repay the favor, especially since Dave and his crew had a chilling and emotional experience there themselves.  The Dave Glover Show has been driving St. Louis home for 20 years.  Airing regularly from 3 pm to 7 pm Monday through Friday on 97.1 Talk Radio, Dave and his co-hosts Rachel and Tony, along with their producer Ryan, get to discuss their curiosities during the "Paranormal Wednesday" segments.  For their Halloween Specials, the team will investigate a regional haunt, such as the famous Lemp Mansion or the "Exorcist House."  This past October 2019, had the DGS crew investigating the Sallie House, motivated partly because of the house's notoriety and our series on it.  It would be safe to say that many who visit the haunted house don't report much of a paranormal encounter except for coming away with feeling a very spooky vibe and some interesting history about the place.  However, it also seems that whatever unseen forces operate at the Sallie House, they will sometimes single out an individual or group and deliver to them an experience they will never forget, even if the details become mysteriously hazy.  This is what happened to Dave and some of his team, as interactions appeared to tap into thoughts, target their emotions, and affect their physical senses.  Of course, some might chalk this communication up to a series of coincidences.  But then Dave, as well as the rest of us, must consider how many coincidences are too many?  At what point does denying a formation of relevant meaning start to seem illogical or even foolish?

Manufactured Outrage For Sale Or Rent with Dave Glover

Play
Read more
Outrage is for sale or rent to any group that can afford to have it manufactured. There certainly is no shortage of what would be the manufacturers themselves. Messaging campaigns are part of every industry, including politics. And yes it is lucrative. The marketplace for outrage is a true growth industry, just look around. Once outrage has been promoted, the drum beat of repitition must be maintained or increased or softened as required. Of course if you are being told that some issue is unacceptable, there will surely be a hollow alternative you will be encouraged to consume. That generates the monthly billing cycle.

It is said every time without fail, but in 2019 it is a valid statement. Canada has never seen a Federal election like this one in October will be. Political parties have more opportuity and methods to influence you and solicit you for money than they ever have before. The backstop against large funded Political Action Committees in Canada has taken new permissive form. There's just too much to be exploited to not join most of the so-called liberal democracies in letting money and ideology have full access to the system. Right at the head of that line is legacy corporate media to offer their assistance for a price. Infotainment pays much better than journalism.

Scandals are made. Cabinet integrity. Fundraising. State visits. Court cases. Is this anything new? No, but It used to be that a scandal actually was a scandal. That's still possible but it may also be a scheduled release event timeline with a planned purpose.

Dave Glover returns to The View Up Here to discuss this tendency of means buying controversy for gain, among other issues that we will happen upon live. You can catch Dave on The Drive Time from 4 to 7 pm EDT weekdays on Northumberland 89.7 FM out of Cobourg, ON or go to https://northumberland897.ca/ to listen online.

The PCPO Circus Brings FordNation Redux with Dave Glover

Play

The last thing any political party wants a few months before an election is to have to hold a Leadership contest. Especially one that is pushing polling that says they will form the next Government. Thanks, Patrick Brown. He tried his best to create a true three ring circus, but just didn't have the effort. Bullet dodged by the party.

Tanya Granic Allen (Church Lady) brought the regressive revisionism that seemed more appropriate to lead her Synod than a political party. How dare people seek to move Ontario past the 1940's. Her showing turned out to have a large effect by the time a winner was chosen. Caroline Mulroney played what could be a cautionary tale for Chelsea Clinton. Yes. people recognize your name. No, it didn't help. At least Church Lady spoke about her "policies", more than can be said for the suddenly concerned daughter of a Prime Minister not exactly missed by most. She's not here for you. Christine Elliott, after finishing 2nd to Patrick Brown and Tim Hudak in previous leadership contests, seemed to have an advantage in being a known quantity to Ontarians. Considering she won the popular vote and the most ridings, how did she not win the Leadership?

Doug Ford. Yes, that Doug Ford. Now poised to lead the Official Opposition into an election campaign without a seat at Queen's Park. With enough luggage to fill a cruise ship. With all those quotes and video clips from the last decade to bring up. With what some are calling nowhere to go but down.

This is truly a 3-way election now. A minority government seems a real possibility. With so many pressing issues for Ontarians on the table, how much real talk will be in the campaigns? Dave Glover returns to discuss the whirlwind circus leadership debacle, the consequences of Doug Ford and the possible strategies of Kathleen Wynne and Andrea Horwath against him. People love a circus it seems.
