In this week’s podcast, Ryan sat down with David Pich, CEO of the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand. David has worked as a leader for more than two decades across all sectors, which has lead to his long held and deep seated passion for sound and impactful leadership. David has truly found his home within leadership and strategy, has his two best selling novels, Leadership Matters and Leading Well, prove this.

Violently agreeing on all topics covered, the two share relatable stories and insights around the importance of growing middle management, how workplace culture can make or break an organisation, the much needed move to a 4 day working week and why everyone should be a feminist.

This podcast was filmed before the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Links·       To connect with David Pich, check out his Linked In·       For more information on The Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia New Zealand.

I have a real treat for you in this episode. My guest is the CEO of the Institute of Managers and Leaders Australia and New Zealand. His name is David Pich. David and I have a terrific, sweeping conversation about the the discipline of leadership and what it means and how we as individuals and approach our own growth and understanding. David is a man quite clearly used to engaging and entertaining an audience. I could have chatted with him for hours.
Lessons Learned

The accidental leadership

Of all the topics we covered - the idea of the accidental leader stands out to me. We all know it - and it’s a constant theme her on the podcast. The technical expert, promoted to a management position. It’s a well worn path - but not necessarily the best for individuals and organisations to take.
7 Attributes of a leader

1. Respect
2. Integrity
3. Emotional Intelligence
4. Ability to inspire
5. Authenticity
6. Self-awareness
7. Decisiveness
