2021, We've Been Waiting For You + The Athletic's Jeff Rueter
Season 3 of Steele Some Time is here! Hosts Kelsi Steele and Scott Stewart kick off the 2021 season with some fresh, new segments, while still bringing that day-one banter. Those way too early 2021 predictions take center stage, ranging from MVP to USL Championship Final Winners. The hosts drop their favorites and put up a few decent arguments along the way. Now, what's a Steele Some Time premiere without its all-time appearance leader? The Athletic's Jeff Rueter stops by to drop his bold predictions, USL expertise and a wing recipe or two. Social Moment of the Week and Positive Story of the Week make their return, but this year we're rounding out the show with an entirely new segment with "Rock and a Hard Place".

Jeff Rueter joins the Fair Weather Podcast for a nice chat. Marisa and Alan kick off the show with the announcement of a cool raffle. You have until Friday at 9pm PST. If you see this prior to that time, you can go here. It’s $10 donation for one ticket. Help support a great soccer city. It’s a great collection of supporters and team merchandise. Hop on it! Next, we bring Jeff Rueter to come on and we start with some beer talk. After that he tells his origin story, and it is a fun one. We talk about soccer prior to the folding of NASL and his experiences with the earlier days of soccer in the US. He does share how soccer has changed and why he thinks it did. After that, Jeff shares his perspective of USL from a national standpoint and how hard it is to cover the league. He mentions how the localized podcasts have helped him get a better perspective on the league. We then move on to some silliness. We talk about his recent twitter engagement around group chat names and how he uses his 8 word game reviews. If you make it to the end of the podcast, you can find out why these group chat names are important to remember. Last, we go really off the rails (I mean, it is on brand for the podcast). It starts with our conversation around food. Again, Fair Weather leads to the creation of a new? food item. Chris gives it the name “Rueter’s Russet”. Go check out what that is and hopefully we will see it soon. We would like to thank Jeff Rueter for being so gracious with his time. It was a nice break from all the craziness in the world and we hope you find it a wonderful distraction too.
