Archibald Hall, the Monster Butler (Part Two)

Skinwalker: True Crime Podcast

Archibald Hall was, by his own accounts, a 'lascivious' lover of sex, jewels and antiques. He was also a petty thief, cat burglar and confidence trickster. Lacking much of a conscience and having little in the way of empathy, the handsome Hall wreaked havoc among the beautiful, rich and powerful of both Glasgow and London throughout his life.Part Two tells the story of Archibald's quick and drastic descent into madness and infamy alongside his murderous companion Michael Kitto through to his eventual capture and imprisonment for his crimes.I'm JS..... and this, is Skinwalker.-------Background Audio courtesy of Audioblocks, all rights reserved.Primary Audio recorded by JS, all rights reserved.Research, Script and Post-Production by: Matt KSources utilised: The Monster Butler: Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer by Allan Nicol, The Wicked Mr Hall: Memoirs of a Butler Who Loved to Kill by Archibald Hall, various print media articles and case files available online.

27 - Archibald Hall: Thief & Serial Killer (Part 2)

Mens Rea: A true crime podcast

In the final episode on the life and crimes of Archibald (Roy) Hall, we chart his activities over the final months of 1977 and into 1978. He had gone from butler and thief to murderer, when he turned against his lover and ex con David Wright. But that was far from his last murder, and the next couple of months he would kill employers, associates and family members, and drive thousands of miles across the UK, criss-crossing England and Scotland. But eventually his crimes caught up with him, and Roy found himself before a court again -  not once, but twice. Our podcast Promo this week is from Barry over at Extraordinary Stories Podcast. 27 - Archibald Hall: Thief & Serial Killer (Part 1)

Mens Rea: A true crime podcast

In the first of a two part series, we take a look back on the life and crimes of Archibald Thompson Hall, aka Roy Hall, aka Roy Fontaine, the monster butler. Roy was born to a working class family in Glasgow, and from an early age wanted to live an extravagant lifestyle. One that he could not (or would not) achieve through hard work and graft. Roy preferred to take what he could. He became a thief and spent many years in and out of prison. In between these stints, he worked as a butler, to be close to the status he desired, and the belongs that went this, that he could steal. How did this supposed high flying and often hapless thief turn murderer? Our podcast Promo this week is from our friends over at The Unseen Podcast! This is a wonderful UK podcast has covered some very interesting crimes and mysteries. Go check it out today! Find us on Facebook or Twitter! With thanks to our supporters on Patreon!
