5. Richard Fisher - Social and Education Entrepreneur

On this episode, I sat down with Richard Fisher, the founder of PUSH, which stands for Persevere Until Something Happens. Richard's personal story is one I love to hear. It challenges the conventional understanding of what traditional schooling should look like. I especially like how Richard is leveraging his own realization to get help children from underprivileged backgrounds get access to aspirational and engaging education.

We began discussing Richard's childhood education amidst the responsibilities he had at a very young age, how and why he went from a very bad student in school to an especially good one in university

We talked through how working in a glamorous environment made him realize it was time to start PUSH and focus on helping others, organizing bootcamps the International Film Festival in a village of 2,000 people in Ghana that people from all over the world fly to, and how PUSH is marrying gaming and education to adapt as it takes a digital-first approach in a COVID-world.

Richard is open, honest, and holds very little back as he shares mind-opening and heart-breaking truths. I really enjoyed listening and re-listening to this conversation. I think you will too.

Dr Richard Fisher is an expert on China, especially when it comes to their military and strategic moves. He's written for the Epoch Times and is a senior official at the International Assessment and Strategy Center. He joined the latest episode of Freedom One-On-One with Jeff Dornik to discuss just how dangerous truly is to America.

China is seeking to conquer America, but not in the traditional way of brute force. Instead of an all-out attack militarily, they are looking to cripple us. They know if they destroy us militarily, they'll also destroy many of our resources and what makes America so valuable. So, instead, they have infiltrated our business, entertainment, media and politics in an attempt to defeat us from within.

One of the ways that they are attacking our country is through information, which leads us to the issue of Tik Tok. The security threat to our nation is quite serious when it comes to Tik Tok, since they are going through Chinese servers, with the Chinese Communist Party having access to that information. Dr Fisher dives deep into the details with what China can do once they have that information... and let me tell you, it's not good any way you slice it!

The election coming up in 2020 will have a serious impact on whether China gains more power or not. When you take a look at the Democrats and how they've been talking about China, they've definitely been downplaying their threat and providing cover for their involvement in sinister activities. President Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been quite tough on China and seems to understand the threat.

Any way you slice it, China is a huge national security threat to America. The question is, what are we going to do about it?

Richard Fisher on Too Big to Fail and the Fed

Play
Read more
Richard Fisher, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about the problems with "too big to fail"--the policy idea that certain financial institutions are too large to face the bankruptcy or failure and need to be rescued or bailed-out. Fisher argues that "too big to fail" remains a serious problem despite claims that recent financial regulation has eliminated it. Fisher discusses various ways to deal with too-big-to-fail, including his own preferred policy. The last part of the conversation deals with quantitative easing and monetary policy during the crisis.
